Polynomialone or more

A polynomial is a mathematical expression with one or more terms and index of every variable has to be a whole number.

Eg. 1. 5x3

2. 8y + 7z2

3. m2 – 3m + 4

Page 6: Hiral polynomials mini

Important Note!!

An expression is not a polynomial if there is a variable in the denominator or the index

of the variable is negative or a fraction.

• Eg. 4x – 7x-2

10m + 7m7/2

Monomial

A polynomial of only one term is called a monomial.

Eg. -17.

62p.

53a4b3c.

Page 9: Hiral polynomials mini

Binomial

A polynomial of two terms is called a binomial.

Eg. 3p + 9.

4 – 5a.

17 – b3.

Page 10: Hiral polynomials mini

Trinomial

A polynomial of three terms is called trinomial.

Eg. x2 + 2x + 2.

a - 9 + 2a2 .

13 + n3 – 6n.
