1. Executive Summary

As enterprises migrate from traditional TDM networks to converged networks and then to converged communications, there is increasing disaggregation of modular components and applications, with a corresponding increase in complexity, flexibility and cost efficiency. Enterprises will naturally evolve parts of their infrastructure from one phase to the next as the need arises. As a result, enterprises will often be in more than one of these phases at the same time. For example, the majority of en-terprises today are transitioning between traditional and converged networks, with a few visionary organizations starting to transition to converged commu-nications. Due to this gradual migration, it is essential that businesses deploy solutions that can accommodate existing infrastructures and investments, while providing a foundation for new applications and services as they emerge. Siemens LifeWorks @Com strategy will integrate the technologies, devices and applications used by enterprises and carriers to produce a single, hom o-geneous communications infrastructure with anytime, anywhere availability. First generation IP (1gIP) delivers modest improvements and is a necessary but transitional technological step. The first generation of Internet Protocol-based communications (1gIP) provides a much needed focus on IP-enabling voice and real-time communication infrastructures – both public and private, however it still incorporates the PBX-model of distributed communications as a core element. Second Generation IP Telephony (2gIP), vastly expands the value proposi-tion of IP telephony. Marked by enhanced applications, 2gIP provides inte-gration of communications with business applications and processes improv-ing productivity, efficiency and an enterprise’s supply and value chains. The HiPath real-time IP systems modular architecture allows IP, TDM and analog networks to co-exist, protecting legacy investments while introducing IP’s benefits to the enterprise. Common, standardized components, used regardless of standalone, networked, distributed or hosted / managed con-figurations also make it easier to add or move trunks, stations, sites, redun-dancy, applications, clients and management functions across systems and networks. Siemens is moving to SIP based real-time IP systems for small to very large markets. We provide a step-by-step migration plan to leverage existing real-time IP system through interoperability. We have a comprehensive security, survivability and resiliency practice to limit risk for enterprises. By addressing points of potential system failures, Siemens designed real-time IP systems to go beyond the resiliency of traditional phone systems by leveraging the inherent resiliency of IP technology. HiPath solutions are still the safest convergence investment with more open choices for enhanced asset protection. 2. Today’s environment

Most incumbent leading telecommunication vendors offer choices of TDM, IP or both. Many “IP only” vendors are struggling and may be losing customers due to unstable conditions or expensive business cases that do not meet anticipated business results. Any communications platform must allow users to communicate effectively and efficiently among themselves and with customers and suppliers. To pro-vide enterprises with a competitive edge, communication platforms must also provide the low cost entry-level reliability up to a carrier class reliability with maximum system availability depending on enterprise requirements. They should also minimize operating and support costs, while increasing the ac-cessibility and productivity of all employees, including executives, managers, professionals, remote branch employees, teleworkers, sales persons and mobile workers.

To realize these benefits, a growing number of enterprises are migrating to a converged communications platform to integrate voice and data applications over a common IP infrastructure. In doing so, enterprises seek a smooth and easy migration path that protects their legacy system investments while as-suring the same voice quality. One company that offers such a migration path to a converged solution is Siemens with HiPath real-time IP systems and applications. HiPath real-time IP systems encompass a variety of migration strategy options to move an enterprise to converged communications. The award below is an award from the 2003 European Innovation Awards Wall Street Journal Europe in which Siemens Communications LifeWorks @Com vision placed first in the category of Network-Internet-Broadband innovation and earned third overall.

About 130 applications were received from 17 European nations and judged by a blue-ribbon panel of Europe’s top technology experts. Their assessment involved determining whether the innovation contributes to an improvement in productivity and quality of life.

For the second time in a row this year, the Siemens Com has received one of the coveted Frost & Sullivan Awards. The Award in the “Technology Leader-ship 2005” category went to Siemens in recognition of its extensive portfolio of innovative SIP-based (Session Internet Protocol) products for both the business customer and network operator markets. The annual Frost & Sullivan’s Technology Leadership Award goes to compa-nies that offer their customers market-ready products incorporating exem-plary innovative technology. This year, the focus in the IP (Internet Protocol) usage category was on companies working with the Session Internet Proto-col (SIP), i.e. an open standard that have used the protocol to bring innova-

tive products to the market. Siemens believes that the industry must make a concerted effort in two areas in order to address the complexity of communication. These two essentials are: 1. A Unified User Experience Enables the user to have access and control over the information and re-sources you need in a predictable, intuitive way: without surprises, the way the user is most comfortable, everywhere, regardless of the device they are using. 2. A Unified Network and Applications Domain Enables the user to have seamless, transparent access to services and ap-plications, regardless of which network they are currently connected or who owns that particular part of the network. Allows them the ability to move around and still maintain access to critical business tools, access to impor-tant personal information such as their mailbox, calendar, and buddy list, reach and be reached by critical partners. 4. How real-time IP telephony can revolutionize business communications

1gIP versus 2gIP TM

Fundamental differences between 1gIP and 2gIP VoIP architectures 1gIP architectures (1st generation IP): Replicates the PBX Model in IP Networks by leveraging the feature rich pro-prietary protocols of PBX Systems. It keeps the distributed architecture and the fragmentation of communication services unchanged. 6. Resilience in Communication

“Resilience in communication” – or secure and flexible communication en-sures high-performance and uninterruptible operation of business processes that incorporate data or voice communication. This is one of the key factors for ensuring that companies are able to profit from the improvements gained by 2gIP applications and solutions. Early PBX vendors such as Siemens have spent many years developing a very comprehensive portfolio of telephony features for end users, e.g. caller list, call back, recall, do-not-disturb, override, hunt group, group call, etc., etc. In addition, as one would expect, all major public networking standards are supported. While this is mandatory, regarding the need to interoperate with the PSTN and the PBXs of other vendors, you can question the actual usage of many commonly used telephony features. A typical user may only use a dozen or so features, some features work “behind the scenes” and are trans-parent to the user, but different users use different features and user groups use different features and vertical industries have specialized feature re-quirements. Siemens decision to port virtually everything to IP allows each user to use the same HiPath ComScendo features in the same way, i.e. there is no forced change in the way the new IP phones are employed – no need to compromise. In order to use the HiPath ComScendo full set of features in a network of Siemens real-time P systems, the CorNet protocol is used which is comprised of a super-set of the Q.Sig standard. Furthermore, CorNet falls back to Q.Sig when communicating with the PBXs of other vendors. In an IP environment, the superset protocol is CorNet IP, which is used to transport the HiPath ComScendo full telephony feature set to users. The HiPath ComScendo feature set evolved from HiPath 2000, HiPath 3000, HiPath 4000, HiPath 5000 and HiPath 8000 software, delivering powerful IP solutions, including high reliability, intelligent call processing, comprehensive user and system management, application integration, and enterprise com-munications networking and interworking.

The HiPath 4000 V3.0 real-time IP system is designed to leverage current investments. Most enter-prise’s gradually move from TDM to IP convergence in planned steps. These planned steps, deliver practical convergence limiting risk while leveraging investments as long as possible. What is unique with the HiPath 4000 V3.0 is its ability to support TDM, IP of mixed environments. Customers can move to full IP networks right away if they choose. Media Servers The application-enabling processing platforms is based on industry standard RMX a real-time communications operating system. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 Media Servers provide high-performance centralized call processing that may be distributed across a multi-protocol network. They are effective in PBX, IP-based systems and softswitch systems, giving them the flexibility to support highly diversified and multi-site network architectures. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 uses cPCI (compact industry standard server) archi-tecture for 19-inch rack mount or stackable configurations for one scalable hardware. There are options for duplex operation including a redundant power supply for central control. There are two hardware options, free-stand option providing central control integration in an (Access Point) AP 3300 de-sign and a 19-inch cPCI server rack for the HiPath 4000 V3.0 and application servers. Customers that have the 19-inch TDM connected access points (AP 3500 / AP 3505) will be able to connect to the new HiPath 4000 V3.0. cPCI Architecture HiPath 4000 V3.0 is based on a fully scalable 19-inch compact PCI (cPCI) architecture for central-control components. new cPCI control provides improvements as a duplex option for all configura-tions, full scalability for 0 to 15 access-points (TDM) and 0 to 83 access points in IP distributed architecture (IPDA), free choice for 19-inch rack instal-lation or traditional shelves with investment protection for future system ex-pansions The cPCI architecture enables enhanced serviceability (hot-pluggable) for further investment protection. Integration of standard application servers into the communication system will allow elimination of server farms separate from the communication platform. This reduces operating costs. Full Scalability and Reduced Complexity The HiPath 4000 V3.0 is a single platform. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 contains complete modularity using cPCI standard servers at the host and remote locations as well as cPCI for applications. When using large enterprise con-figurations, the large enterprise mixed-mode gatekeeper is used for IP-Interworking and IP-trunking connection of hundreds of gateways and serv-ing thousands of IP users. Another improvement is increased IP gateway platform bandwidth (2Mbps to 8Mbps) for IP convergence and new business applications. HiPath 4000 V3.0 uses cPCI industry standard server hardware and a new method is used for E-software licensing. E-software licensing en-ables licenses to be generated over a web connection and opens up admini-stration of the HiPath 4000 V3.0 real-time IP systems. Modularity HiPath 4000 V3.0 uses industry standard hardware (cPCI) architecture and a “feature dongle concept” applying a SIM card technology. This allows elec-tronic licensing that would include flexible unlimited 30-day trial period for software licenses allowing faster service implementation. HiPath 4000 V3.0 license indemnification is needed because the hardware and software are decoupled. In order to calculate the number of licenses for users and the hardware required, as well as the type of codecs used for bandwidth compression, traffic models need to be created for proper IP net-work operation. Traffic models need to calculate IPDA and IP trunking gate-ways, calculate the number of possible connections that should be measured for IP client subscribers. Using traffic models ensures the accurate IP net-work end-to-end configuration. Changes to software licensing includes a compression option for the HiPath Gateway HG 3530 V2.0 clients that allows calculation for license indemnifica-tion and user license requirement of 2, 8, 24 user packages to individual licenses per port/user. As the core software feature set for the HiPath 4000 V3.0 Real-time IP sys-tems, HiPath ComScendo feature set lets you introduce IP telephony where it makes sense for your business, serving as the glue that unites both new IP telephones and existing Siemens solutions. HiPath 4000 V3.0 media servers and media gateways distribute HiPath ComScendo feature set, 700-plus telephony features across your IP and TDM network to support medium, large, very large businesses, or even multi-site contact centers. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 scales from under 200 users to as many as 12,000 on a single system - and thousands of users on a single network. Media servers and gateways Survivable Media Gateways These modular hardware elements deliver application-enabling data, voice, fax and messaging capabilities to your network. They support both payload and signaling traffic routed between packet-switched and circuit-switched networks. The HG 3570, HG 3575, HG 3530 AP 3300 IP and AP 3700 IP are offered in two sizes, a 30 channel and a 120 channel version. There is a new SLMA gateway with CLIP (caller ID) for analog phones. A digital PRI (US) gateway is offered for the U.S. markets. High performance IP gateway architecture The HG 3530, HG 3550s, HG 3570, HG 3575 IP gateways have a choice between 30 channels or 120 channels depending on the network needs. When the 120-channel option is chosen, HFA Client overbooking is enabled supporting 240 clients with 120 channels. An improvement of newer technology enables faster DSPs for IP gateways and AP gateways within the HG 3530, HG 3550s, HG 3570 and HG 3575 gateways. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 real-time IP system architecture controls IP Payload switching in the network between HiPath 3000, HiPath 4000 and HiPath 5000 platforms. This is called an “any to any” connection, connecting any IP device to any other IP device. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 real-time IP system IP interworking with the HiPath 3000, HiPath 5000 and HiPath 8000 using Cor-Net IP. Today the HiPath 4000 V3.0 has G.711 uncompressed standards. WAN and VPN Connections (Satellite offices) In addition to real-time IP systems, there is IP interworking with applications. QoS enhancements are built into the IP gateway architecture that will oper-ate in conjunction with HiPath QoS 2000 policy management. Smaller remote sites may have only IP telephones connected through the network. There are options when enabling the IP network and each option has different surviv-ability capabilities depending upon host failure, IP network failure, etc. Direct Media Connections (DMC): Today with HiPath 4000 V3.0, every call via the HG 3530 will be converted from IP to TDM coupled in the TDM Switching unit – and converted back to IP for an intersystem call. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 direct media connection provides native IP switching within the HG 3530 gateways without conversion to TDM for all two-party connections between IP Clients, even when the gateways are using different compression Codecs. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 direct media connection provides significant QoS improvement (less echo & delay), improved gateway performance, dynamic use of gateway resources and multi codec switching allows usage of multiple different codecs within one network. High Performance Gateways for the HG 3500 HiPath 4000 V3.0 has a new generation of more powerful and flexible high-performance –IP gateways. These include the HG 3530 V2.0 – feature ac-cess (HFA) for IP Clients, HG 3550 V2.0 – IP Trunking and HG 3570/75 V2.0 – IP distributed architecture. These new gateways provide significant im-provements of the 4000 V2.0 effectiveness, speed, bandwidth conservation and usability in IP environments. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 High performance gateway improvements include voice compression, payload switching / direct Media connections for HG 3530 Clients, reduction of IP-delays, up to 120 simultaneous connections per gateway with flexible assignment for subscribers per gateway (240 users per 120 channels per gateway) and support of 1st party CTI for IP Clients. The new high performance gateways operate especially well for large IP network configurations, branch offices and configurations with satellite offices that will improve voice quality, bandwidth usage and scalability. The new high performance gateways provide improved customer workflow and better sup-port for a smooth IP migration. HG 3530 gateway within IPDA remote location Workstation protocol is based on CorNet-IP and is available across HiPath 4000 and 3000 platforms. This provides the ability to use decentralized CTI Applications, high flexibility for the desktop, support of the enterprise work-flow tools within IP the environment (LAN, WAN, VPN) and easy to integrate and convert to convergence and an IP solution. HiPath 4000 V3.0 has the capability of placing the HG 3530 IP telephone gateways within the IPDA remote locations as well as the host location. This provides up to 12,000 IP or TDM clients per node. This produces a reduction of IP traffic via WAN, cost reductions, less administration, keeps local traffic local and provides a solution without TDM Components at the central real-time IP system location. HiPath 4000 V3.0 has WAN bandwidth monitoring and calculation. This en-sures current bandwidth of access points will be monitored and execution to reject calls if the bandwidth is not sufficient. This provides enhanced flexibil-ity, customer satisfaction and less administration. HiPath 4000 V3.0 handles Modem and DTMF tones using the HG 3570 gate-way The 4000 V3.0 HG 3530 gateway has a configurable capability for an HG 3530 gateway failure; another HG 3530 gateway will take over operations of the failed gateway. This provides customer satisfaction and survivability for IP telephone in case of gateway failure.

The 4000 V3.0 large enterprise gatekeeper is now internal and can supervise up to 500 HG 3550 gateways. Distributed locations: The HiPath 4000 V3.0 real-time IP systems are distributed and their physical location on the network is not relevant. Thus, a HiPath 4000 V3.0 real-time IP system might control a contact center and be located in North America, but this facility would also be available to agents in Europe and Asia. In practice, however, the network manager would not want traffic to travel backwards and forwards across continents because the application would operate at more than one site. This simple example illustrates the intrinsic flexibility of CoIP (communication over IP). Each communication device automatically identifies itself to the network when it attempts to establish a connection. The physical location is irrelevant. The relevant IP platform confirms the identity of the user and employs an Internet protocol (DHCP) to enable access to authorized services and applications. Security The HiPath 4000 V3.0 supports the Signature Module with the OptiPoint 400/500/600. Authentication is performed in a Smart Card Access Applica-tion SCAA via ACL-C (CSTA). Survivability and Reliability The HiPath 4000 V3.0 has several survivability and reliability options for dis-aster recovery, hardware failure and IP network failure. There is HG 3530 IP gateway hot fail-over redundancy if another HG 3530 IP gateway fails. There is an AP 3700 (cPCI) survivable intelligent access point located within the IPDA that provides intelligent, survivability if the host or IP network seg-ment fails. There are two options for the AP 3700, a 19 inch host shelf with 13 slots and a 19-inch IPDA with nine slots. These options provides 19 inch mountable for full integration into the IP world and a 19-inch option for TDM based access points. Alternate large gatekeeper registration provides registration to other gate-keepers in case of a failure. HiPath 4000 V3.0 host disaster recovery pro-vides a duplicate secondary host HiPath 4000 V3.0 in case of a failure at the primary host HiPath 4000 V3.0. Call forwarding on error requires that each subscriber define an emergency destination. Call forwarding on error will be activated whenever undependa-bility in the IP network is detected or reaching an unavailable device. Emer-gency destinations are enabled as an example: alternative routes to this ex-tension number via CO i.e. 0004989720-4711 instead of 0004989722-4711. Improved CorNet IP Interworking

Application Platform Interoperability: Platform Interworking The real-time IP system portfolio covers any possible customer scenarios; it provides a flexible communications environment and the real-time IP sys-tems provide a user transparency between them. Common components, applications and management suites will ensure less initial investment costs for our customers in multi -platform scenarios. (i.e. HiPath 4000 and HiPath 3000 in the same network). IP Networking with other Vendors At this point networking with other systems is accomplished either through TDM connections or gateways; Q.Sig is still the common protocol. Most vendors support standards like H. 323 H.450 and SIP but a clear IP Network-ing/Signaling Standard is not available. Customers will probably have Mixed Scenarios in the future as they have today. Therefore, a clear and compre-hensive open interface architecture is critical to remain flexible. On the circuit switched side, industry standard signaling protocols such as Q.Sig are employed for interoperation with the PBXs of other vendors. Net-works of Hicom PBXs used CorNet, which is a superset protocol. IP is used on the packet switched side for interoperation with the platforms of other vendors; CorNet IP, a similar superset protocol is employed for networks of real-time IP systems. Organizations can configure any mix of Siemens cir-cuit-switched PBXs, converged HiPath 3000 and HiPath 4000 real-time IP systems, HiPath 5000 RSM’s and HiPath 8000 SIP based real-time IP sys-tems. State-of-Art IP Softswitch with Legacy Support HiPath 4000 V3.0 is a real-time IP system using industry standard cPCI (compact server) and industry standard RMX real-time operating system. The HiPath 4000 V3.0 accommodates IP switching even for users connected to different HiPath platforms. The communication platform is the feature server and TDM gateway.

HiPath 4000 V3.0 has the capability to logon / logoff (mobile HFA) from any IP telephone connected to an HP 3530 IP gateway. Mobile HFA works for single site and in a network. HiPath 4000 V3.0 new optiPoint 410 and optiPoint 420 IP Phone; Entry (8 keys); Basic (12 keys); Standard (self labeling); Advance (19 keys, local di-rectory); Key module (19 keys, self labeling); display module (touch screen, Java applications), support of 4 line display; intelligent pointer handling, im-proved handling of caller list, emergency call and location ID number and the SLK (Self Labeling Key) module for the optiPoint 420. The optiPoint 420 uses “SLK technology” and is a perfect solution for customers making use of Desk Sharing / Flexible Office or those users who often reprogram their function keys and executives. This provides new feature enhancements, less administration and state of the art design and concept. IP Telephony software is available for desktop or notebook PCs, which explains the term softphone. This means that users of notebooks can take their extension with them and can make and receive calls from any location on the corporate network. The functionality is equiva-lent to having all the telephony features of a regular IP phone on a computer. Similar functionality can be enabled on Pocket PC PDAs. An IP softphone also simplifies the provisioning of multimedia contact center agents capable of handling voice calls, emails and interactive Web calls. Upgrade of the HiPath 4000 V2.0 Systems to HiPath 4000 V3.0 will be a software upgrade only. The hardware requirements for the central control are the same as in the 4000 V3.0. Not supported hardware needs to be replaced. If the customer wants to take advantage of the cPCI ability to integrate appli-cation servers, they will be able to order a cPCI Shelf in addition to their ex-isting hardware and host application servers within this shelf. Customers, willing to exchange their central control will need to order a cabinet conver-sion. IP Distributed Architecture and HG 3530 IP Distributed Architecture is available on all hardware platforms, which sup-port the HiPath 4000 V3.0 software release except the HiPath 4300 (con-verted Hicom 330 E / H, 80 CMX) platforms. At the top, are the back office management applications are applications usually behind the scenes and are indirectly accessed via the management applications. These may include databases like corporate directory services or engines for applications that are enterprise-wide applications (examples are: Billing Systems, Service Process Management, …). Management applications are designed for a specific function of manage-ment. Fault management, Accounting management and User management are applications to provide management functions to all of the under laying levels. Access is provided to QoS Policy and Performance, Security and Software License under laying element managers or to the third party applications. HiPath Quality of Service Management provides Centralized collection of QoS data from HiPath components that include analysis of QoS data (Re-porting), QoS based Service Level Management, transfer of HiPath QoS data to external applications and centralized allocation of QoS parameter to Hi-Path devices. HiPath Quality of Service Management reduced life cycle costs such as s in-gle point of allocation of QoS data in the HiPath IP. Within network policy management it provides centralized and automated QoS data analysis as well as SLA Monitoring with automated SNMP alarming. This is the first tool to prove quality within the HiPath IP network.

The DLS Phone Element Manager provides deployment of new software that is downloaded to the IP telephones as new loadware. Element managers manage a single product category or a group of products in the same category. Each component has its own management and administration interface, de-fined as an element manager. Each element manager is complemented by and integrated with the HiPath MetaManagement Application to provide the system administrator with the ability to manage a network of various network components, communication platforms and applications from a single univer-sal interface, to support the administration and serviceability of the entire enterprise solution. Many times the IT department is confused when we present HiPath Meta-Management. HiPath CAP is an “ultimate interworking engine for application platforms”, leveraging current network infrastructures, communication platforms, applications and other items providing crossover investment protection. HiPath CAP brings different worlds together such as mobile networks, carrier networks and enterprise

networks, harmonizing all platforms with applications. Many customers are in a multi-vendor environment today and need to protect those investments. HiPath CAP as the ultimate interworking engine enables non related platforms and applications to interwork as one solution. Normally interworking takes place for voice using the Q.SIG (Q.SIG signaling allows certain ISDN features to work in a single-or multi -vendor network) and CSTA (Computer supported telephony application) standards to allow diverse com-munication platforms and applications to communicate with each other. Hi-Path CAP provides the interworking of these diverse communication plat-forms to interwork with each other and with applications seamlessly. HiPath CAP leverages current Siemens applications, third party applications and management providing access to HiPath real-time IP systems. In addi-tion, the new XML Phone Services interface enables the integration of web services that support IP phones and system phones, and provides a number of interesting phone performance features on an ad-hoc basis. XML also integrates well with back office applications and real-time IP systems. HiPath CAP Configuration Scenario
