Magical LadakhSpiritual Journey to Indian Tibet with Ivan Bavcevic and The Center
of Consciousness in August 2014.
We take you on a unique journey of self-realization to Ladakh, a region within Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir also known as Indian Tibet.
We will enjoy natural beauties and high vibrations of Himalayas and visit many Buddhistmonasteries. Spiritual teachings, lectures and meditations will be conducted during the journey.
Lehthe capital city
We might say that everything in this part of world is unique and fascinating – magnificent Himalaya mountains with snow capped peaks, intense colours of sky and landscapes, green river valleys, specific architecture and simple way of life.Leh will serve as acclimatization and rest base for our trips to Pangong lake and Nubra valley, on the way to which we will follow ancient silk route and cross some of the world’s highest motorable passes.
Thiksey, Shey, Stakna & Hemis
Stakna Monastery, on the bank of Indus river, stands on a hill shaped like a tiger’s nose, and that’s from where the monastery draws its name since the word stakna means tiger’s nose. Hemis, with more than 200 branches, is revered as the largest monastic institution in Ladakh. The Hemis National Park, one of the high altitude national parks in the country, is close to the monastery. The park is famous for rare animals like snow leopard.
Alchi, Likir & Lamayuru
Buddhist monasteries are important centers of spiritual, social and cultural life of Ladakh. Each monastery in Ladakh is distinct in itself and we will experience the uniqueness of Ladakhi monasteries.
Alchi village is famous for the existence of one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh (a national heritage) Alchi Monastery, mainly known for its magnificent, and wellpreserved 11th or 12th century wall paintings. Unlike the other gompas in Ladakh, Alchi is situated on lowland, not on a hilltop.
Pangong Tso
Pangong lake is situated at 4250 m above sea level. Captivating blue colour of lake water and clear blue sky are said to clean and soothe the mind and soul that admire its beauty and purity.
Jeep tour from Leh to Pangong and back through stunning bare mountain landscapes is unique experience. We will stop at Chang-La pass, Tangtse village and Chemrey monastery. We will spend several days and nigts at the lake in tents.
Nubra Valley-Nubra Valley lies in the old Silk Route from
South to Central Asia.
Fed by the Nubra and Shyok Rivers, the valley was once thought to be under a huge glacier. What remains left today are stretches of sand dunes and stark boulder-strewn plains that look almost extra-terrestrial.
The valley is relatively warm during summers and it opened to tourists only in 1994 so is still virgin territory for travelers. We will visit several monasteries in the valley, one of which has a 34- meter statue of Buddha.
