If you’re an adult who re- members VBS from back in the day, or day camp when you were small, or who just has passion and time to help a teenager with her idea, we’d love to have you join team Summer Camp at OHPC. Oak Hill News No. 05 MAY 2017 Volume 67 With Jesus as our guide and community as our goal, we worship, love, serve and grow.
Early in the fall, one of our youth,
Emily Bischoff, came to me with an
idea. She wanted to put on a sum-
mer camp for youth in our commu-
nity and asked if the church could help her do that.
She told me about how she remembered her days in
VBS here at Oak Hill and how much she loved it.
She wanted to make sure other kids had that same
kind of experience.
Now, it was a project for school, and she would have
classmates and friends to help out, but she hoped to use
the church space and experience to plan her camp.
With the help of Youth Leader Christine Woodward,
Emily began to hatch a plan. When some of our church
youth gathered last fall, they started brainstorming to-
gether ideas for the camp. They decided they wanted to
use their mission trip week and devote it completely to
Emily’s project, to Emily’s idea.
Emily is working up the budget, the daily schedule, the
activities and supplies lists. She’s recruiting the volun-
teers and strategizing about getting the word out to po-
tential campers.
And we, oh church, get to help support her in this lov-
ing and generous dream. If you’re an adult who re-
members VBS from back in the day, or day camp when
you were small, or who just has passion and time to
help a teenager with her idea, we’d love to have you
join team Summer Camp at OHPC. We’re looking for
volunteers for the week of June 5-9 who can help sup-
port our youth as they lead the camp. Come for one
day or come for the whole week. Come early before
work to help set up, or join us for the whole morning to
play with little ones, create with crafts, sing silly songs,
and share tasty snacks.
Come, join in the fun, serve your neighbors, support
our youth, and see where this creative project may take
us all!

WORSHIP AND CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
COMMITTEE
A Note from Pastor Erin-
A big thank you to all the many, many who volun-
teered, who came early and stayed late, who washed
dishes and folded crosses, who stuffed eggs and car-
ried boxes, who practiced readings and music, and
so many, many more…. Thanks to all who worked
to make Holy Week, Easter, and Holy Humor Sun-
day such a meaningful and faithful experience this
season. It is an honor being church with you all!
The Wednesday Bible Study Class is currently
watching and discussing Theoacademy’s Introduc-
tion to the New Testament series, featuring the Rev.
Dr. Margaret Aymer. All are welcome to join us for
this 5 week series, on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in the
Theleos Room.
The Adult and Youth Sunday School classes will be
finishing up their year this month, before taking a
summer break from meeting. We offer thanks to

teaching this year.
MISSION COMMITTEE
Wow! First Tuesday Foosball, May 2, and Third
Friday Open Gym, Crafts and Games, May 19, con-
tinue to be a huge success attracting neighborhood
and church youth for fun, fellowship and food. Eve-
ryone is welcome to join us.
It's May and mission teams are starting to arrive,
which means not only do we have first Tuesday
Foosball on May 2, we have second Tuesday,
May 9, and fifth Tuesday, May 30, Foosball! We
are looking for a few people to help volunteer at all
of the Foosball gatherings this summer. It's a fun
time. Basically volunteers help manage chaos and
provide food! The youth are great and you get to
spend time with our Mission Trippers. There are
sign-up sheets in the Large Assembly Room. Every-
one is also welcome to join us even if you aren't an
"official" volunteer, just come have fun! Any ques-
tions? Please contact a member of the Mission
Committee.
Hope to see you on one of our youth outreach nights.
Thank you to everyone who helped out and came
and ate pancakes with us! The Mission Committee
had fun and hopes you did too!
Thank you to everyone who came out and participat-
ed in our Mission Staycation! A lot of work got
done and we are getting ready for a busy summer at
AMEN St. Louis.
