NEED ASSESSMENT STUDY FOR THE CSR INTERVENTIONS OF TOYOTA

INDUSTRIES ENGINE INDIA PVT. LTD.

Before initiating any new CSR project, an in-depth survey of the area helps to

establish the relevant conditions and needs which should be undertaken in

order to assess the future results of the project developed. Needs assessment

is a systematic process for identifying salient socio-economic and demographic

community issues, such as poverty, education, health, education,

unemployment etc.

TIEI had expressed its interest of undertaking research to establish a

benchmark for evaluating the progress of the project. The study is being

conducted by NFCSR which focuses on thematic areas of (a) Education, (b)

Livelihood (c) Health and Sanitation and (d) Environment.

The study uses a mixed methodology for the study and utilises quantitative as

well as qualitative research tools to collect data from 4 villages from Rural

Bangalore namely: Bukkasagara, Krishna Doddi, Yallamana Doddi, and

Madappna Doddi. Five field investigators from Karnataka and one field

supervisor from IICA are collecting the data from the households as well as

various stakeholders such as Gram panchayat, aanganwadi, primary health

centre and school authorities. The data will provide a snapshot of the

demographics and impending needs of the respective villages.

After the analysis of the data and establishing the needs, tangible and

actionable recommendations for implementation in the form of short term and

long-term projects would be suggested which would ensure sustainability.
