“THE NOT SO SILENT NIGHT” Christmas Program Christmas is coming!! And in celebration of that wonderful event, a Christmas program is being planned to share with all of you on Sunday, December 16th, at 6:30 pm. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND INVITE FRIENDS AND FAMILY. Let’s encourage these young people that will be taking part and help them to know the church family supports them. At the same time, hear a thought-provoking message that may change the way you celebrate your Christmas season as the kids present “THE NOT SO SILENT NIGHT.” All kids and youth are encouraged to take part. There is a job or part for everyone, and we need twenty or more people. So invite friends. Practices will be right after church every Sunday in the Sanctuary for the month of November. Dress rehearsal is on December 9th. If you have any questions, see Gloria Ritchie. In the meantime, please pray for God's anointing on this endeavor and on those taking part.

Dear Church Family and Friends, I am getting nostalgic again in November! I am thinking back to an old song that I have heard sung by a number of celebrities and non-celebrities alike. The song was written by Irving Berlin for a movie that is shown every Christmas
Holiday Season on local and cable channels multiple times – most folks view the movie as a classic. Can you guess the name of the movie? Can you remember the person who sang the song to Rosemary Clooney? I will not give you the answers – you’ll need to remember or investigate for yourself. The song is Count your Blessings (instead of sheep). The lyrics to the song go like this…
When I’m worried and I can’t sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep And I fall asleep counting my blessings.
When my bankroll is getting small, I think of when I had none at all And I fall asleep counting my blessings.
I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
So if you’re worried and you can’t sleep Count your blessings instead of sheep
And you’ll fall asleep counting your blessings.
There is therapeutic value to the words and sentiments expressed in this song. In this Thanksgiving Day month of November, I challenge you to practice what this song teaches us. Each night as you close our eyes, offer up a prayer of thanksgiving recalling the blessings that the Lord has placed into your life. I believe as we view our lives through the lens of “being blessed,” then tomorrow is no longer scary, but is transformed into a glorious hopeful day. A day where we can enjoy past and present blessings as we look forward to the good future that God will unfold into the His children’s lives. It is a fast cure for insomnia, and restful for our souls as well! May we learn to rest in the assurance of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and continual blessings. Sleeping Well,
Pastor Bill

Honor & Remembrance “Bells of Peace” to Ring November 11
The World War One Centennial Commission — along with the Pritzker Military Museum & Library, the Society of the Honor Guard of the Tomb of the Unknown, the National Cathedral, The American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars — has announced a nationwide bell-tolling on November 11 as a solemn reminder of the sacrifice and service of veterans of the Great War, and all veterans. “Bells of Peace: A World War One Remembrance” encourages citizen and organizations across the nation to toll bells in their communities 21 times at 11 AM local time on November 11. In Washington, DC, bells will toll in the National Cathedral at an interfaith service, marking the centennial of the armistice that ended hostilities in what Americans fervently hoped would be “the war to end all wars.” The nationwide program is designed to honor Americans who served 100 years ago during World War I, especially the 116,516 who died. The war ended by an armistice agreement at 11:00 AM on November 11, 1918.
Have you lost a loved one, a close friend, or a child? Do you need support in dealing with the loss of someone you love? Losing someone special, a family member or a close friend, can be difficult. The support of others on a similar journey can bring comfort, nurture, healing. You are invited to a 13-week journey called “Grief Share.” The group will meet in the fellowship hall Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, through December. There is no cost to participate. Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. After viewing the video, group members will spend time, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in our lives. During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. GriefShare is a nationally recognized program. More information about this program can be found at their website (www.griefshare.org) or talk with Don Conner, George Stebner or Pastor Deb. You are cared about and you are loved. We would like to help you through this difficult time.
We continue on our study “FINDING JOY” this month at Pastor Deb’s house, 22 Swathmore Avenue. Join us on this “Women of Faith” journey to experience real, lasting joy in our lives. ALL ladies WELCOME! November 6: “Get a Grip on Griping” November 13: “Remember When” November 20: “Joyboosters”
Your Journey from Mourning to Joy
Winter Snow Policy If there is snow overnight the evening before a planned morning church event from Monday through Saturday, due to snow removal factors beyond our control, the event will be cancelled. If there is no school or early dismissal for the Gloucester City School District, all afternoon and evening activities will be cancelled. We will make every possible effort to see that the lot and walks are cleared for Sunday School and Sunday morning worship. Sunday afternoon and evening activities will have weather cancellations at the discretion of their appointed leadership.

Dear Sponsors, On behalf of “Baby” (Christal Mae C. Galvez), I’m her mother writing to you. First of all, I would like to thank you for helping Crystalyn up to now. You are such a blessing to us. (Crystalyn graduated from the Children of Promise program last spring.) Baby, as we call her, is a very active girl. She loves to eat vegetables and play with her cousins within our neighborhood. She loves coloring and dancing. She enjoys attending Sunday School. They do a lot of coloring after the Bible stories, and that is why she loves it so much. Thank you all for the blessings you extend to our family. May the Lord bless you always. Love from, “Baby” Christel Mae C. Galvez
