From the GovernorThis year’s Mid Year Conference was attended by

our administrator Kevin Kruse, Kenny Kapp and myself. It was a breath of fresh air to have Scott Hart named as our new Director General. Scott is 41 years old; his youth should direct our Mooseheart Child City and School in a new direction for the future. Scott gave a very moving and inspiring speech, which was the best Moose speech I have heard.

Getting back to Highland, we have a new chairman of our Moose Riders. Lenny Gall has taken over for our retiring Charter Chairman Kent Wiese. Kent did a very good job of getting the Riders a good start. International Moose Riders raised $60,000.00 for laptop computers for the youth at Mooseheart. September 14 is Illinois Day at Mooseheart, the Moose Riders will have a “drive around” carrying the American Flag that will be raised in a cer-emony at Mooseheart. I hope we have a good turn out for this event. More information will be available later this summer.

We have a Shooting Match on April 21. We need HELP for this event which funds many of our events and is very important for our organization.

Moose Night Out at Trenton House was well attend-ed. Thanks go to Todd Rutz for his hospitality .

The Clothing Drive at Brian Langhauser’s place of business was a success with many members helping. A big thank you for Dave Knebel frying all the good fish, Dave Wirz cooking the steaks and Lango providing the beer. Proving you can have a good time at the clothing drive, with all the card-playing and socializing.

Elections are coming in April and we need good Moose members to step forward and serve our lodge for our future.

Everything was great. Special thanks to Brian & Karen Langhauser for the facilities, donuts & beverages for the Clothing Collection on 3/9/13. Sunshine Child at Mooseheart Regular correspondence is important to the children. Children love to receive mail on their birthdays, on holidays or just a little note letting them know you are thinking about them. Sunshine Children are assigned to you until they leave Mooseheart, or you request to discontinue the program. There is no financial obligation, although each child is issued their own bank account and may receive gifts (checks or packages) anytime during the year. Please be sure to earmark how you want money spent. Mooseheart policy states that any money not earmarked will be divided 80% to child’s savings account and 20% given to the child for spending money. Our kids appreciate anything you do for them, however they do enjoy having a small package to open. They can’t wait to see what is inside! Especially at Christmas or birthday, the anticipation of what is inside is exciting. Gift cards are also a great idea. We have Wal-mart, Target and Kohl’s just to mention a few. All letters, cards and gifts should be addressed to your Sunshine child at the address below. Please always put what Lodge you are sending it from. This will ensure that gifts are handled properly and will be acknowledged quickly.

Please send all correspondence to the following address:Jeff Leigh IIc/o Sunshine Department115 James J. Davis DriveMooseheart, IL 60539

Clothing Collection a Success! We collected approximately 6 tons of clothing at our annual Clothing Drive on March 9, 2013 at Langhauser Sheet Metal. We had a minor problem with logistics and Hoyleton, but our very resourceful Junior Governor Ken Kapp made several phone calls and found a welcome source in Highland - St. Paul CYO. Everything turned out great.

Operation Pantry Sweep

We also collected 86 lbs. of food items during the clothing collection for the food pantry. Great idea and great job Chairman Roscoe Ammann
