The recent successful functioning of the
PolyU developed and made Camera
Pointing System (CPS) on Chang’e-3
lander which soft landed on the surface of
the Moon in December 2013, has made
PolyU the only University in the region
that has a functioning instrument on the
surface of the moon.
CAST has up to now provided/pledged
research funding of over RMB60 million for
another mission which will be launched in
2017. It will take back lunar regolith for
China the first
time.
