Key Responsibilities • Qualify and counsel WIC participants, including pregnant and postpartum mothers, infants, and children under five years. • Breastfeeding education, counseling, and support for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. • Development and implementation of processes to sustain and improve work site performance. • Participation in Agency strategic planning to ensure that the Agency Work Plan is implemented, monitored, and reported out as directed. • Assume an active role in promoting the nutrition aspects of programs, such as the Women, Infants, and Children Program, Nutrition Education Obesity Prevention Program, and other County nutrition programs and projects. • Program quality assurance. • Assist Dietitian II in supervising the training of nutrition education and breastfeeding counseling and support for the paraprofessional staff. • Supervisory responsibilities such as assisting the Dietitian II with creating the weekly staff schedule, assisting in conducting performance appraisals, staff training, communicate policy and procedure updates, and assist with office operations. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet the qualifications listed below by the application deadline • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition, or a related area • Completion of the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education (CADE) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics • Completion of an Accredited Dietetic Internship Program or Accredited Coordinated Program, and become registered within 12 months of hire • Registered as a Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics within 12 months of hire • Maintenance of the Registered Dietitian level throughout employment in this classification with Tulare County
