Rousseau wrote ‘Emile’ in 1762 in which he about the nature of man. We should be raised by nature and not restricted by the ‘chains’ of social order. This would enable our creativity and individuality to develop and would mean that we did not become another cog into the wheel of the Industrial Revolution.
