Sure, there are plenty of hero­battling RPG/strategy games on the App Store. Oneswhere you get to level up a team of heroes, do huge amounts of battle damage, and soon. But how many of them are real games? By which I mean, they have hex grids,because we all know if the game ain't hexagonal, it ain't a real game. It's just the truth.Well, Heroes Tactics: Mythiventures is here to deliver you strategy­based hero­battling...on hex grids. Check out the trailer with all them hexagons:

Honestly, this seems like a pretty cool combination of well­known social RPG mechanics,with more of the strategic elements of turn­based strategy games. And as is becomingpar with social RPGs, you can do auto­battling if you would rather not focus on planningat certain points, especially if you're just grinding. This one will release as a free­to­playgame next week on November 19th, but you might be able to get early beta access ifyou follow the instructions on this post.

Heroes Tactics has somewhat deep gameplay for a phone RPG.

Heroes are either ranged or melee, and do either magic or physical damage.Each has a special attack usable when their energy bar is full. The energybar functions like a rage or limit bar, in that it fills by both attacking and killingenemies as well as taking damage. Each hero also has up to three passiveskills, unlocked as they level up.

This fairly simple system leads to more strategy than you would expect, andevery move feels important. Finishing off opponents before they can use theirsupers is key. You also need to stay out of ranged hero's optimal (2­5 hexes)range, so that they only do half damage. The wait command is key here, as itlets you allow the opponent to go first, while you are out of range, and thenquickly close in by taking two moves in a row.

The game features a stamina system and lots of daily quests like manyphone RPGs, but it's handled better than most. If you grab all the bonusesyou can play between 31­63 battles per day, and each one can take a minuteor two if you are playing manually. If you just want to grind an easy level for
