With the growing challenges in environment posed by globalization of Indian economy followed by signing of GATT, industry and academia cannot grow and develop in isolation. Management institutions today have to interact very closely with industry, on one hand, and the community, on the other. Keeping the global scenario in view, the Kalyan Bharti Trust established the Management Education Centre (MEC) under the banner of Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) with a view to impart management education. MEC, HIT is now formally called Heritage Business School (HBS).The affairs of HBS are managed by the Kalyan Bharti Trust which in itself is the brainchild of a conglomerate of Kolkata based noted industrialists. As such, it has been possible for the Institute to establish and maintain close liaison with many industrial houses. The Institute organizes various courses during semester / summer breaks conjointly with different industries, which not only supplement the University’s syllabi but also provide the students with a cutting edge, which is so very vital in making the students employable and enterprising in future. 2. The two years that I spent at HBS (erstwhile HIT - MEC) is unforgettable period of my life. I made friends and mentors, which I treasure, in these two years. I had the opportunity to meet great people and fine tune my management, interpersonal and professional skills. The exposure which HBS provided me in terms of industry interface and professional development has been vital to my performance in corporate world as well as my career progression. I am an entrepreneur now and the learning is still helping me grow. HBS provided me a perfect launch pad which gave an amazing kick start to my career.

My message to current students of HBS is to consider 2 years which they spend here, as an important period of life and try to maximize the learning and exposure they get here. HBS provides you with a solid foundation which helps you lifelong. Remember that this is the only opportunity you have in life to prepare yourself for a relevant and meaningful contribution to corporate world.

Training & PlacementHeritans are achievers - an eclectic mix of ambition, creativity, enthusiasm and integrity. The Institute is relentless in its pursuit of excellence by nurturing talents with exceptional creative ability.

Training and Placement Cell is the core department in a B-School which compliments the effort of Placement officers and faculty members by organizing value-added programmes. For most management students, “Placement” is the key word. The Placement Cell, guided by a set of rules and principles strives to maintain warm relations with companies. We strongly believe that students’ prime objective should be to make an informed choice about the right career move. We facilitate them to do so by helping them build a career-focused development plan, taking into account their strengths, skills, interests and aspirations.

The training cell help students explore placement opportunities by:

l Tuning with day-to-day business events through realistic case studies / workshops / interaction in class sessions.

l Combining management education with IT.

l Comprehensive survey on Marketing, Investment areas, HRD planning and Financial Control Techniques.

Industry Experts and leaders are invited to our campus and our curriculum reflects the future challenges business graduates would face. The corporate guest lectures, work-shops, seminars helps the students to be exposed to the corporate world and to compete in the global arena. A constant interface with the Managers and other professionals from the companies gives the students a better understanding of their subject matter than what they could learn theoretically.

Training and Placement Cell also makes concerted effort to facilitate better student – alumni interaction. Alumni members of Heritage Business School possess a rich body of knowledge and experience of the industry they are working in. Working with the alumni association, Training and Placement Cell also provides unique mentoring opportunities to the students. The pairing of alumni-student is important for the career growth of the student.

Pre-Placement TalkThe Pre-Placement Talk is a platform where the company officials address the batch about the company’s background, philosophy, values, ethos and share details about the profiles offered, the eligibility criteria, the selection processes, compensation and other details. The PPT facilitates the process of budding managers building their aspirations to join the corporate world. Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone.

This is the only way to great success

Swami Vivekananda
