SECTION MRA: Boda Risk Aversion Read: The next set of questions will ask you to choose whether or not to invest in a risky investment given a certain amount of starting money and a known risk. You will know the chances of gain or loss and the returns to your investment should you win. Then you will have the choice to invest all of the money, part of it, or none of it.

For example, say you were to invest 100 Ksh in bananas. If you sold them all, you would receive 200 Ksh, but if they went rotten before you could sell any, you would lose your 100 Ksh. Investing in bananas therefore has a certain risk—you could make money or you could lose money. I will ask you about several different types of investments. Specifically, this investment will give you back 2.5, 3, or 4 times the amount you invest ½ of the time and will give you back nothing ½ of the time. Do you understand what I mean when I say ½ of the time? This is the chance that if I were to flip a coin in the air, that it would come up heads. SECTION LA: LOSS AVERSION In this section, I would like to ask you about several choices you can make. Mradi huu ni utafiti wa afya na uzaliohaji kazini. Utafiti huu unafanywa kwa pamoja na watafiti kutoka ohuo kikuu cha University of California, Los Angeles na University of California, Santa Cruz. Nchini Kenya, utafiti unafanywa na shirika la I.P.A. Ukiwa na maswali yoyote kuhusu utafiti huu uko huru kuyauliza maswali haya sasa ama baadaye. Utapewa nakala iliyo na habari za mawasiliano.

Lengo la utafiti huu ni kutaka kujua zaidi kuhusu matukio ya shida za kiafya kwa uwezo wa uzalishaji wa watu kazini. Lengo la utafiti huu ni kudadisi madhara ya akiba katika jamii.
