Who knew we were going to host a quilting “rock star?” I have gotten inquiries from at least 10 states! We even have a guest flying here from Germany to attend Bonnie’s workshops. Over half those attending our workshops are from outside our guild! Every day, I receive more inquiries from people who would like to attend. I believe they follow her blog and notice where she will be on her calendar. As of today, we have a waiting list of at least 8 people! There will be NO pre-meeting workshop this month with Marti Chamberlain due to the extra activity with our speaker, Bonnie Hunter. There will be two workshops this month, too, held at Wyoming Methodist church. We expect many guests so please extend a greeting to everyone to welcome them. Introduce yourself to someone you don’t know, and tell them about Helping Hands. There will be bookmarks and business cards available for all guests. Quilters Lunch & Learn is October 22. Personally, I am happy to know the heat of summer is behind us and look forward to the quilt activities planned. We thank Marion Lundgren who was with us last month to share her quilt journey. Her story was so real and heartwarming. The evening culminated by two Quilts of Valor quilt presentations to David Cass, a Vietnam Veteran who shared his story, and our own Mary Kokoszka, who recently retired from the Air Force. Mary worked in the mortuary at Dover AFB and detonated bombs as part of her job. Our website is constantly being updated by Mary Dawn Ditty and Patricia Kokoszka to bring you the latest information. Cindy King recently joined the Board and will be helping with the website and workshop coordination. Please note in March, Patricia will be taking pictures for those. who missed our first sitting and new 2016 members. Bring your favorite quilt and be a part of our directory. Show and Tell Sue Hoecker Show ‘n Tell for this month only: Please bring one or two of your favorite Bonnie Hunter quilts to share. Only Bonnie Hunter patterns this month…we will resume all show ‘n tell next month. Thank you. Bonnie writes a regular column in Quiltmaker magazine entitled “Addicted to Scraps.” She advocates going beyond saving your scraps and gives us ways to USE our scraps. She is the author of at least 7 quilt books. In short, we are having a teacher who is fun and talented and entertaining. She has been easy to communicate with as well. For our evening program, Bonnie will show some of her quilts in addition to her lecture, “Scrap User’s System.” She will have some of her books for sale at our meeting. Cont. p2
