Hello Moore class!
My name is Mr Arnold and I’m going to be your class teacher in Year 4. I am sure
some of you may have seen me around school at various points, but I thought it’d be
good for you all to know a little about me before September. I have been a teacher
for over 10 years, this will be my fourth at River Primary. I really enjoy maths games,
word wheels and I like to think I’m really good at solving riddles but Miss Ward tells
I’m not really! Outside of school I have lots of hobbies – mainly sports. I enjoy skiing,
playing golf and cycling in my spare time. When I’m not doing this you’ll probably
find me at the Rec ground in River being chased by my 2-year-old son – feel free to
say hello if you see me.
Our class name will be Moore class, after Captain Tom Moore who I’m sure we all
remember from the lockdown period. He set himself the target of raising £1000 by
walking 100 laps of his garden for his 100th birthday, he eventually raised over £30
million for the NHS. It has also been announced that he is to receive a knighthood
from the Queen. Our classroom will be where the Year 5 classrooms were this year
and our class Teaching Assistants will be Mrs Clarke and Miss Farebrother. The other
class will have Miss Ward as their teacher. Our first topic will be ‘Potions’ which will
involve us finding out about different liquids, solids and gases, as well you all writing
your own potions!
In class I like to make sure you’re all ready to answer questions, so there’s a no-
hands up rule in class. You will have a rota of different jobs in class that will change
throughout the year so you will all have the opportunity to try different things.
Where you are sat will also change throughout the year, remember that I will always
try to place you where I think you will do your best learning. I know that the end to
Year 3 has been tricky for everyone in different ways, so I think it’s important that
you don’t worry about any missed learning – we will cover this in class from
September. I hope you all have a wonderful summer and stay safe so we can all be
back in school in September.
Take care
Mr Arnold
