Jan,2016. A special morning assembly was
organised on the occasion. The programme
commenced with a play enacted by the students
based on girl child discrimination. Director
Principal Dr.Anita Bhalla greeted the students
and lit the bonfire. She apprised the students
about the importance of this festival and advised
them to avoid using ‘China Dor’. The students
presented a cultural bonanza which included
Punjabi folk dance ‘Gidda & Bhangra’. National
Anthem marked the ending of the programme.
Bhavan’s S.L Public School celebrated the
festival of Basant Panchami with ardour and
devotion on 12th February 2016 on school’s
premises. School’s music team invoked
Lord Ganesha, the Obstacle remover and
Maa Saraswati, the Goddess of wisdom ,
music, art , purity and beauty with their
bhajans. The guest of honour addressed the
students that being a student, the disciple’s
goal should be the strong character
formation, to take the best care of the health
and last but not the least to serve the
country. Some Students were also given
awards in the non-academic field for being
excellent in character.
Academic Achievements 1. Bhavanites Excelled in Bournvita Quiz:
Students of VII and VIII participated in Bournvita Quiz held at DAV Public School on 7th November, 2015. Snehal (VIII)
and Govind (VII) cleared all the rounds and became the winners.
2. Nitya of X participated in Essay Writing Competition organized by INTACH and bagged Best Entry Prize from Young
Intach Newsletter
3. CBSE Board awarded 2 students Vibhor and Amish of XII (2014-15) with certificate of Merit for being among the top
0.1 percent.
4. 4 students attended Regional Writers workshop organized by Katha Utsav and were selected for National & International
writers workshop for students amongst 10,000 participants from all over Asia.
5. Anu Arora was honoured with Best Student Award from Sahodaya Schools Complex at Ram Ashram Public School.
6. 2 students got medals of excellence and certificates of excellence by NCO. Gobind, student of XII got Gold Medal and Merit certificate.
7. Vaibhav & Gobind of XII participated in Reserve Bank of India Quiz on 9th October, 2015 at Art Gallery, Amritsar. They bagged 4th Position and were awarded vouchers of worth Rs. 1500/- each.
8. Anshika of Nur gor 2nd Prize in Inter School Coloring Competition out of 11 schools held in Ryan International School on 26th September, 2015.
9. Various Bhavanites participated in Essay and Poetry writing and Drawing Competitions of different Expression Series
of CBSE on the work and life of eminent personalities of India and won prize of Rs, 2500/- each.
10. Guneet (VI) and Dhriti (III) won prize of Rs 2500/- each in Expression series of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
11. 20 Bhavanites were selected for II level in 18th NSO.
1. Bhavita of K.G got 1 silver (300 m), 1 Bronze (100 m) and 1 Bronze (500 m) in 19th
District skating competition. She also got 1 silver Medal in Inter School Skating
Competition held on 15th December, 2015 in DPS.
2. Students of Bhavan’s Muskaan School –a school for autistic children participated in
18th Punjab State Special Olympics held at Ludhiana from 9th – 11th October,2015. With
their strength, determination and will power, children proved that disability is no bar in
achieving success. Amraj bagged 2 Gold medals in 100 m run and 200 m run, Ekta won 1
Gold 1 Silver in 50 m run and soft ball throw, Mannat got 1 Gold and 1 Bronze in Soft ball
throw and 50 m walk and Aryan got 2 Bronze in 50 m run and soft ball throw. Director
Principal Dr.Anita Bhalla congratulated all the winners.

Boy: Under 14: Raksh (VI) bagged Bronze Medal
Under 19: Akshit (X) bagged Silver Medal
Girls: Under 14: Mansi (X) & Rupali (IX) got Bronze Medals.
Bhavan’s was the host to organize
Inter State Junior Red Cross Camp
from 24th -30th Dec 2015. 256 students
from 13 different states and 15 teams of
Punjab participated in the camp. Chief
Guest Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh
unfurled the national flag. Students
were intimated about the history of Red
Cross, First Aid & Special Services
provided by Red Cross. A cultural
Programme were organized .Students
Padao’ and Swachhata. Chief Guest
appreciated the cultural exhibition of
different sates and active participation
of all the teams. Gidda & Bhangra
presented by Bhvanties mesmerized all.
At the end prizes were distributed to all
the winners. Our school took the cake
in poster making (Deepika –X) ,paper
reading (Kritika –VIII) ,declamation
VIII) & quiz (Piyush –X) .

Dr. Anita Bhalla greeted the parents and
emphasized the continued productive role of
parents in their child’s education .She also
asked the parents to keep a constant watch on
all the activities of their children. Bhavan’s
Chairman Sh. Avinash Mohindru appealed the
parents to give their contribution in
inculcating values amongst their children. He
invited the suggestions from the parents for
the development of the school. A meaningful
presentation was shown to the parents..
The school organized an adventurous trip to Bhavans’ Nature and
Adventure centre at Andheri in Mumbai from 15th -22nd dec.2015.
Students from VIII & IX along with their teachers participated in
the camp. The purpose of the camp was to inculcate the values of
unity, concentration , team spirit and discipline among the
students. Students participated in activities like Commando Net,
Burma bridge, Spider net , Rope Walk , Tyre walk, Flying Fox,
Rock Climbing, rappelling, Archery, Rifle Shooting and rope
Ladder with the help of trained persons. They visited Nehru Science
City, Prince of Wales Museum, Essel World etc.

Scouts & Guide Camp A five day Scouts & Guides Camp from 2nd to 6th Jan ., 2016 was organized in the school premises.104 students from
Classes V to VIII participated with tremendous verve and gusto in many fun- filled multifarious like Pitching tent, cooking
without fire, first aid service , patrol system & following the rules of cleanliness etc. They were trained about the history of
the scouting movement and law premises, knowledge of Patrol signalling & flag song etc. In the closing ceremony, awards
& merit certificates were given to the winners.

To seek the blessings of Almighty , Hawan was performed religiously
under the divine fervour and spirituality on the re-opening of the school on 7th jan.,2016 after winter vacations. The
solemn ceremony was graced by the management members, Director Principal Dr.Anita Bhalla and all the students &
teachers. The soulful chanting of hymns imbued the environment with positivity. The fragrance of Aahutis offered in the
hawan wafted in the air generating good cheer and solemnity. Bhavan’s Chairman Sh. Avinash Mahindru wished students
for a happy and fruitful new year. He told them that the sacred fire & smoke that emanates from hawan purifies not only
the atmosphere but also our body, mind. The ceremony culminated with the devotional singing of ‘Aarti’.
A special Programme was organized to
celebrate Geeta Jayanti on 21st Dec.
2015. Bhavan’s Chairman Sh. Avinash
Mohindru extended formal welcome to
the guests and expressed his views o
the importance of this day. This is the
day when Lord Krishna rendered his
Philosophical teachings to Arjuna to
follow the path of karma on the first day
of the battle of kurukshetra which
resulted in the birth of Bhagavd Geeta
.A vibrant and spiritual atmosphere
was observed when students chanted
10 shalokas from the 15h chapter of
Srimad Bhagvad Geeta. He inspired
children to follow the teachings of
Geeta. Chief Guest Ms. Sunita Sharma
distributed shawls to the widows.
National Anthem marked the closing
of the programme.
Brain Quest
Ganit week was celebrated in Bhvans’s from 16th -22nd Dec., 2015 to commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of Dr.
Srinivasa Aiyangar Ramanujan .For this purpose , different activities were conducted during the Ganit Week. On 16th
Dec., Mathematics Relay Race was organised from Class I to V in which they performed acc. to the questions based on
mathematics problems. On 17th Dec., various mathematical puzzles such as creating Magic Square, Rubik’s Cube were
taken through paper activity. On 19 Dec., class wise quiz competition based on reasoning and aptitude was organized. On
21 Dec., games like Sudoku, Mathematical Crossword and Kakuro were taken from classes 6 till 8 through paper activity.
On 22nd Dec., Innovative projects such as Tangram, Banking, Integrated Projects, Golden Ratio and models of different
topics were made by the students of class IX till XII. All the above activities were displayed in the form of Exhibition on
23rd Dec., 2015. All the students and teachers enthusiastically participated in it.
Patriotic Note
Bhavan’s celebrated Republic Day in all its solemnity and grandeur on
26th Jan., 2016. The whole school was decorated in tri colour and echoed
with Patriotic songs. Amidst dignitaries, the National flag was unfurled
and tri-coloured balloons were released in the air. School’s band team,
NCC Cadets & Scouts and Guides performed the parade ceremony.
Colourful State Dances added lustre to the unforgettable ceremony. The
school reverberated with patriotism and selfless sprit when the students
brought the stage alive with the characters they enacted to show their
passion and love for the motherland. The tiny-tots came in the befitted
costumes of actors, industrialists, journalists, politicians, saints and
sportspersons Director Principal Dr.Anita Bhalla appealed all the students
to build up their faith which is the foundation stone of any project under
taken with a ‘Will’ to complete. Chairman Sh.Avinash Mohindru asked
the students to truly love nation’s resources in order to be an ideal citizen
and forbade them to become the part of communal violence. Programme
concluded with inspiring speech of Chief Guest Dr.Rajkumar Verka who
urged the students to become vigilant and good human beings to prevent
the prevailing corrupt practices.

Sh. P.D.Kumar Memorial Lecture on Service Above Self &
unveiling Ceremony of Kumar Sahib’s Bust:
On the 13th Death Anniversary of Sh. PD Kumar Ji, (Founder Chairman Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Amritsar Kendra), Pujya
Swami Nikhilananda Ji, Regional Head, Chinmaya Mission, New Delhi visited Bhavan’s to unveil the Bust of Shri PD
Kumar Ji & delivered P.D.Kumar Memorial Lecture on “Service Above Self” on 27th Dec., 2015. Chairman Sir Sh.
Avinash Mohindru threw light on the selfless Service of Sh.PD Kumar Ji who sacrificed his whole life for a noble cause.
Swami Nikhilananda Ji unveiled the bust of Sh. PD Kumar Ji and shared his valuable views on “Service Above Self”. He
said that selfless service is the true service to society. Nothing is above the services to society. Swami Ji honoured the
winners of State Level Geeta Chanting Competition. Director Principal Dr.Anita Bhalla extended Vote of thanks to all the
guests.
