Accepted formats y High-resolution PDF (300 dpi, CMYK), saved in X1:A format

y AI or EPS file (300 dpi, CMYK)

We do not accept files generated from CorelDraw or MS Office packages such as Word, Excel, Publisher or Powerpoint.

When creating your ad y Embed all fonts or outline them

y Make sure all images, logos within the ad are 300 dpi and CMYK

y Make sure all RGB and spot colours are converted to CMYK

y Include the text and all important features within the type area only. Avoid running type across the gutter in DPS

y When creating a bleed advertisement, make sure all important material is within the live space and that the bleed size extends on all sides of the ad

y Set up the black text to black only, large areas of solid black to consist of 40% cyan. Total ink weight should not exceed 280% and allow for a 14–18% dot gain.

Advertising Submission y All advertising materials MUST be submitted digitally, email preferred.

y All material must be supplied on time to allow for checking procedures. Late material is liable to incur additional production costs. Additionally, Elsevier cannot take responsibility for the accurate reproduction of ads if material has been supplied late.

y We also accept file transfers via secure cloud file-sharing services such as wetransfer.com or dropbox.com.

Advertising SizesThe journal size is 210 x 280 mm. An allowance of 3–5 mm on each outside edge in addition to the trim size is re-quired for all full pages and all DPS. Text should not come within 10 mm of the trim size of the journal.

DPS adverts must be supplied as 2 separate full pages with 5 mm bleed and a 3 mm clearance on the inside gutter margin.This is a Perfect Bound publication which requires gluing of the inside page margin – please be aware of this when designing your DPS advert. See the “Document” section below for further info.
