A good pharmacist is an invaluable asset for healthy living because they see pa-tients more often than any other health-care provider. The pharmacist should know medicine, be easy to talk to and care about the patient as a person. At the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy® in Affton, located at Heege and Mackenzie, the focus is long-term, quality patient care. They take the time to learn names and medical histories, and answer all of a pa-tient’s questions. Plus, they provide free next day delivery, flu shots, home health aids, medical equipment, certified diabe-tes care and more. Call 314-638-3535 to transfer prescriptions.

Premiere Eye Associates are true be-lievers that excellence in performing all eye procedures is derived from both education and experience. They strive to keep current on the latest techniques and standards so that patients can be provided with the safest treatments and procedures for optimal results. Premiere’s focus is on thorough exams, checking total health before perform-ing any procedures. Surgery, if needed, is never routine, no matter how many thousands of times such procedures are performed. For this reason a review of the patient’s medical history and current health is taken into consideration before any procedure is performed.

The Pilates Method seeks to create flexi-bility, strength and control of the body. At The Scoop—A Pilates Studio, instructors help clients create a plan to take “con-trol” of their health and fitness goals. They offer Classical Pilates on the Mat, and Full Pilates Apparatus: Privates, Semi-Privates and Classes. In addition, they offer the Gyrotonic Expansion System®, Ugi Fit and Piloxing classes and more. The Scoop also has a small retail boutique to outfit clients as well. Call 314-968-9629.

A Metro St. Louis area police chase ended in Webster Groves at about 4:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, after the sus-pect’s grey Chevrolet Cobalt struck a Volvo SUV in the area of Bompart and Big Bend Road, near Webster Univer-sity.

With the help of a police dog, the 27-year-old suspect was immediately apprehended, cuffed and eventually taken by ambulance to a hospital. In-formation on his injuries has not been released.

A long line of police vehicles was in pursuit of the suspect’s vehicle as it headed east on Big Bend. The ve-hicle then struck a Volvo SUV driven by a woman as she pulled out onto Big Bend from a Webster University parking lot. Her vehicle flipped onto its side, but witnesses report that the woman emerged from the vehicle and appeared unharmed.

The suspect’s vehicle had been the target of an area-wide pursuit by St. Louis city and county police, fleeing to Illinois and then back into Missouri. A witness said that more than 10 police cars were on the tail of the suspect, who was wanted for assaulting a St.

Louis police officer during the course of a drug investigation.

As of Wednesday, Jan. 12, prosecu-tors in both St. Louis city and county had yet to bring charges or release the name of the suspect.

Police officers from several jurisdictions stand over the handcuffed suspect on Big Bend near Bompart in Webster Groves. Behind them, more officers help extricate a woman from an overturned Volvo SUV.

Taypayers To Receive Important Tax Information In New Format

The Missouri Department of Reve-nue will be distributing important tax information in a new way.

In previous years, the department mailed a Form 1099-G letter to tax-payers who itemize their deductions on their federal income tax return. Be-ginning Jan. 10, the department will mail a postcard – instead of a letter – to affected taxpayers showing them how to retrieve their 1099-G informa-tion online or by calling the Depart-ment of Revenue. The postcards will be mailed in stages, and all postcards will be mailed by Jan. 31.

The 1099-G notes the amount of overpayment a taxpayer received from the department during the preceding calendar year. The amount noted is usually an income tax refund received during the previous year.

As an example, if a person received a $600 refund from the Missouri De-partment of Revenue in 2009, and he or she previously itemized their deduc-tions on their federal tax return, that person would have received a Form 1099-G letter in early 2010 that noted

the $600 in income received from the department in 2009.

The federal Internal Revenue Ser-vice requires government agencies to notify individual taxpayers about pay-ments such as refunds. This require-ment means that individual taxpayers must also report their refunds as in-come to the IRS when completing their federal tax returns. That fact makes the information on the Form 1099-G crucial to accountants, financial plan-ners and individual citizens who want to accurately complete tax returns.

The postcard will inform taxpay-ers of two ways of obtaining their Form 1099-G information. They can go online and visit www.dor.mo.gov/tax/1099G, or call 573-526-8299. With either option, a taxpayer will need to have his or her Social Security num-ber, their home address Zip Code and the filing status noted on their most recently filed tax return. People who go online also have the option of print-ing their actual 1099-G form.

For more information, visit http://dor.mo.gov/faq/personal/1099g.php.
