ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

Annual Campaign dollars raised provide children, families and

individuals access to Y memberships and programs they other-

wise could not afford. At the Y, no one is turned away due to

inability to pay. This year, more than 882 donors provided

$342,366 to help their neighbors grow stronger in spirit, mind

and body through the Y. THANK YOU!

Your Annual Campaign gift helps the Y ensure that everyone,

regardless of age, income or background, has an opportunity

to learn, grow and thrive.

To learn more about the annual campaign, please contact

Cassie Lloyd, Director of Mission Advancement at

864 585 0306 x 119 or [email protected]

ENDOWMENT

The Y Endowment fund ensures a healthy future for our YMCA by

maintenance and scholarships. Giving to the Endowment is a way

to leave a lasting legacy for your children, grandchildren and the

community.

To learn more about making a contribution to the Endowment

fund, please contact Cassie Lloyd, Director of Mission

Advancement at 864 585 0306 x 119 or

TOGETHERHOOD

Togetherhood is a member-led volunteer community service

program. This program invites Y members to lead and participate

in volunteer service projects that benefit the community where

they live. To get involved, please contact Nichole Turner at

[email protected] or call 864 585 0306 x110.

GINI’S STORY

Gini and her son, Jlynn, pictured above, are grateful

for the scholarship that makes their YMCA

membership affordable. Gini was a single parent for

many years and had to raise her two children on her

own. She adopted Jlynn, whom her cousin had given

birth to. Unable to raise him, she asked Gini to adopt

him and gave him Gini’s last name. Jlynn was born with

autism, and at five weeks, had a pulmonary

hemorrhage. Money became scarce as Gini had to pay

for medical expenses for both Jlynn and her other son,

Jonathan.

Gini had to move from Greenville to Spartanburg to a

house that had been in her family for many years. The

house was built in the 1920s and needed many

repairs. Because of all the expenses, she was unable

to provide Christmas gifts for her children.

Gini visited the Y and learned about the Angel Tree

program. After she signed up, the Y provided her

family with Christmas gifts. Gini and Jlynn have

benefitted greatly from the financial assistance they

receive for their Y membership. Jlynn loves to play

soccer and baseball at the Y and is learning

valuable social skills in childwatch.

“The Y is like a village for us,” Gini said. “You are

literally changing our lives.”
