Water Is The Best Drink

• Drink 2-3 liters of water daily.• Drink more in hot weather/outdoors/air travelling.

• Limit your tea/coffee/all soda drinks/artificial juices.

• Drink more during pregnancy, breast feeding.

• Patients with renal failure/dialysis should consult their doctors for how much amount is taken in 24

hrs.

HYGIENE Good Hygiene Can Prevent Infections & disease.

(1)HANDWASHING:• 80 types of infective viruses & bacteria present on surfaces we touch everyday. They can survive up to 2 hrs. on trolleys, hand railings, door

knobs etc. specially flu & Urine infection from public toilets(WHO)

•Infections spread in public places,schools,offices,malls etc.

•CDC recommends: Regular hand washing and sanitizers use after visiting public places, hospitals, touching surfaces, covering mouth when coughing, sneezing, handling food.

•Educate your children/family about hygiene.

-change your toothbrush every 3 months.

-Regular dental checkups to prevent tooth & gum infections which relates bad smell & heart diseases as well.

(3) BODY HYGIENE-Proper nails cutting(kids/elderly/diabetics).

-Frequent change of under garments/socks etc.

-Take bath daily, avoid using other’s towels, hair brushes, nail cutters.

- Avoid too much cosmetics/perfumes/shampoo/hair colors.

ل2 الخ/ فيه بيت9 ر ت/ق. ي/ف7 ول/م7 قبلى، األنبياء إدام/ كان فإنه ، �ل الخ/ . “ فى Narrated by Umm Sa'ad Radi Allaho Anha that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe

Wasallam said : "Vinegar is the best curry / condiment, O Allah, Descend your blessings in Vinegar, because it was the food for Prophets before me & a house having vinegar (where it is

consumed) will never face FAQR (poverty)". (Ibn-e-Majah) Poverty indicated above can be the poverty in actual, PLUS the poverty caused by diseases.

Reported by Talha Bin Naf'e Abu Sufyan who narrates it from Jaber Bin Abdullah Radiallaho Anh that "Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam took me to his house one day &

Rasoolullah was offered a piece of bread, he asked if a curry / condiment was also available, he was answered that there was nothing except some vinegar". Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said, "Khall (vinegar) is the best curry / condiment", Jaber Bin Abdullah Radi

Allaho Anh said that as I heard this from Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam, I LOVE Khall from that time, & Talha Radi Allaho Anh said that I LOVE Khall from the time I heard it from

Jaber.

Barley Bread(Jaou,Sha’eer) : يبيت وسلم عليه الله صلى الله رسول كان قال عنهما الله رضي عباس ابن عنشعير - خبز خبزهم أكثر وكان عشاء، يجدون ال وأهله، هو طاويeا المتتابعة الليالي

ماجة وابن والترمذي أحمد رواه Ibn Abbas radi Allaho Anh reports that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam & his

family spent many consecutive nights without food, because there would be no supper. The bread of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam was mostly made of BARLEY.

Narrated by Tirmizi & Ibn Majah

. عبد حدثنا الحنفي المجيد عبد بن الله عبيد حدثنا الرحمن عبد بن الله عبد حدثنا: . له قيل أنه سعد بن سهل عن حازم أبو حدثنا دينار بن الله عبد بن الرحمن

: ) رأى" ) ما سهل فقال ي و0ار/ الح' يعني gالنقي وسلم عليه الله صلى الله رسول أكل : ) هل ) له فقيل وجل، عز الله لقي حتى النقي وسلم عليه الله صلى الله رسول : ) لنا ) كانت ما قال ، وسلم عليه الله صلى الله رسول عهد على مناخل لكم كانتثم طار ما منه فيطير ننفخه كنا قال بالشعير، تصنعون كنتم كيف قيل مناخل،

Someone asked Sahl Bin Sa'ad radi Allaho Anh: "Did Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ever ate bread made of white (fine) floor" ? He replied "Rasulullah Sallallaho Alaihe

Wasallam never saw the white flour till he met Allah (till his death)". The questionaer then asked : "Did you people use sieved floor in the times of Rasulullah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam"?

He replied "No, it was not". Then the questioner asked : "How was bread from barley prepared"? Sahl radi Allaho anh replied : "We used to blow into the flour & the big particles flew

out, the rest was made into dough".

“Lit from a blessed tree, on olive, neither of the east (i.e. neither it gets sun rays only in the morning) nor of the west (i.e. nor it gets sun rays only in the afternoon. but it is exposed to the

sun all day long), whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself), though no fire touched it". (24:35)(Al-Noor)

.) oكة ب/ار/ م' oة ر/ ج/ ش/ من فإن0ه به، Tirmizi and Ibn Majah narrated that Abu Hurairah Radi Allaho Anh related from Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam that he said: "Eat the oil, and use it as an ointment,

because it is produced by a blessed tree".

: : قال عنه، الله رضى عمر ابن عن eأيضا ماجه وابن ق.ى وللب/ي7ه/ ( : ن'وا واد0ه. ، يت. بالز0 ائ7ت/د.م'وا وسلم عليه الله صلى الله رسول قال

Al-Bayhaqi and Ibn Majah also narrated that Abdullah bin Umar Radi Allaho Anh reported that Messenger of Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said: "Use the oil in your curries and apply it

as on ointment (for massaging) because it is from a blessed tree (olive tree)".

A Hadith [narrated by Ibn Majah and others] stated that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said:

Make use of the two cures: Honey and the Quran".NOTE: Patients with diabetes should consult their physicians on how much quantity

SUMMARY/TAKE AWAYS

Food Group Healthier Choices Less Healthier Choices

PROTEIN

Meat. Skinless chicken or turkey, fish, shellfish, eggs, extra lean beef (sirloin, ground round, tenderloin) lean veal, buffalo, ostrich, rabbit, venison. Meat should be trimmed of all visible fat.

Deep fried meat, poultry, fish and tofu. Bacon, hot dogs, salami, bratwurst, chorizo, prime rib, corned beef, meatloaf, lamb (ground or rib roast), chicken or turkey with the skin on, dove, pheasant, wild duck or goose. Refried beans (made with lard).

Plant proteins. Tofu, tempeh, legumes (black beans, kidney beans, chick peas), lentils, black-eyed and split peas, soy nuts, soybeans, vegetarian refried beans or baked beans.

VEGETABLESAny fresh, frozen or cooked vegetables OR 100% vegetable juice.

Deep-fried vegetables or vegetables topped with butter or white creamy sauces

These vegetables can be prepared with healthy oils.

FRUITAny fresh, cooked, frozen or canned fruit (without added sugars or syrup), dried fruit, or 100% fruit juice.

Fruit “drinks” (that are not 100% fruit juice) or dried fruit coated with sugar and tropical oils such as coconut or palm oils

DAIRY FOODSSkim or 1% milk, soymilk, low fat evaporated milk, rice milk, low fat/fat free yogurt, low fat buttermilk, low fat sour cream, low fat cheese, and low fat pudding.

FATS & OILS

Olive oil, canola oil, and peanut oil. Olives, avocado, all natural nut butters (peanut, almond, cashew). Most nuts, seeds (ground flaxseed, pumpkin, and sunflower), tub-style soft margarine (trans fat free), tahini paste, hummus, fish oils.

Meat fats, butter, palm oils, coconut oil, shorten ing, chitterlings, cream, stick margarine, coconut, macadamia nuts, white creamy salad dressings or sauces

All fat is high in calories, so control the amount used, even if it is healthy fat.

COOKING METHODSGrilling, roasting, steaming, baking, broiling, stir-frying, poaching, braising, and sautéing.

Deep frying, cooking with butter or other unhealthy oils, cheese or cream sauces.

* Only healthy oils should be used in cooking

SAUCES/CONDIMENTS

Vinaigrette salad dressing, mustard, ketchup, salsa, guacamole*, humus*, canola-oil based mayonnaise*, marinara (tomato) sauce, pesto*, dried/fresh herbs and spices, pepper, low sodium chicken or vegetable broth, or lemon juice. * High in calories, so use

White creamy sauces or salad dressings, alfredo sauce, salt, butter

BEVERAGESWater, unsweetened iced tea, 100% fruit juice*, 100% vegetable juice (preferably low sodium), skim or 1% milk, or soymilk.

Fruit “drinks”, fruit punch, regular soda, full fat milk, full sugar iced tea, lemonade, milkshakes, and energy drinks

* Fruit juice is high in calories, so portions should be controlled for weight management.
