HCE Connection Manitowoc County Association of Home and Community Education February 2017- March 2017 President’s Letter… The New Year is amongst us and hope it has started well for everyone. It has been cold for sure but we do live in Wisconsin and it was going to happen. The holidays are over and many of you were busy, but now is time to get back into a HCE frame of mind. I hope everyone is working on their projects for cultural arts. I am entering something this year, which is going to be interesting for me because I have not done it before. I was always so scared because I am not the craftiest person, but it is time to give it a try. I’m not promising anything but it will be there. The codes for the HCE hours are in the newsletter because several people have asked for them. It is helpful when we are calculating the hours. If you are not sure, just leave the hours without a code and we will place it where it belongs. These are hours that are dedicated to HCE events or activities. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Our Focus Studies are planned for the year. The Community Outreach for the year is The Crossings, a pregnancy program, located in Manitowoc that helps young women who need assistance with a pregnancy and parenting issues. They are accepting various donations. They are starting a home for young women who do not have anywhere to go during this time and need some kitchen items for it and also items for the boutique at The Crossings. Food staples, cleaning supplies and personal care items are among the items needed. Our February focus is “Are We Allergic to What We Eat” with Abbey Bubolz and will only be at 1:00 PM. March focus study is “Keeping Our Brain Fit as We Age” with Kim Jackquart Franzen from UW Extension. Our April focus Study is the Manitowoc County K-9 Unit and will be at 1:00pm only

President’s Letter…
The New Year is amongst us and hope it has started
well for everyone. It has been cold for sure but we do live in
Wisconsin and it was going to happen. The holidays are over
and many of you were busy, but now is time to get back into a
HCE frame of mind.
I hope everyone is working on their projects for cultural
arts. I am entering something this year, which is going to be
interesting for me because I have not done it before. I was
always so scared because I am not the craftiest person, but it is
time to give it a try. I’m not promising anything but it will be
there.
The codes for the HCE hours are in the newsletter
because several people have asked for them. It is helpful when
we are calculating the hours. If you are not sure, just leave the
hours without a code and we will place it where it belongs.
These are hours that are dedicated to HCE events or activities.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Our Focus Studies are planned for the year. The
Community Outreach for the year is The Crossings, a
pregnancy program, located in Manitowoc that helps young
women who need assistance with a pregnancy and parenting
issues. They are accepting various donations. They are
starting a home for young women who do not have anywhere
to go during this time and need some kitchen items for it and
also items for the boutique at The Crossings. Food staples,
cleaning supplies and personal care items are among the items

Our February focus is “Are We Allergic to What We
Eat” with Abbey Bubolz and will only be at 1:00 PM. March

also. Looking forward to learning to put to daily use in my
life.
Again, thank you to everyone for being part of our
organization and continuing to learn and apply what we need to
our daily lives. We can always use extra help with projects and
on the board. New people bring new ideas and that can only
help our group grow and continue to have an impact in the
community. To a great 2017 for all.
Sincerely submitted Amy Kohlmann
