Gaylord Hotels desired to expand its brand into new markets, selecting HBG to create the master plan and design for its Four Diamond Orlando resort. Sited on 60 acres directly outside the gates of Walt Disney World, Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center is the only facility in the area to combine hotel, convention and entertainment amenities under one roof—and it’s not your typical roof either. The project’s signature feature, a four-and-a-half-acre, glass-covered, climate-controlled atrium soars over the resort, creating an enclosed Florida destination-themed entertainment experience with restaurants, retail and attractions. The 1,400-room resort was voted as the Best Resort Hotel in the State of Florida by Florida Monthly magazine for seven years in a row.

As the second brand extension for Gaylord Hotels, Gaylord Texan features 1,500 rooms inside an all-inclusive, resort destination that rivals major convention players in cities from Chicago to Las Vegas. The 1.2 million SF hotel and convention center resort’s signature brand element, the glass atrium, bears a Texas-sized star visible to planes flying overhead. Inside the four acre atrium, lush gardens and waterscapes celebrate three distinct regions of Texas: the Hill Country, the Lone Star and the Riverwalk. The $500 million project has received much recognition since its opening, including Americas Lodging Investment Summit’s (ALIS) Development of the Year. HBG provided master planning and full design services on the project.

This high-energy 12,000 SF Hard Rock venue pulls patrons in with an eye-catching LED-lit guitar ceiling entry feature, and was designed to work synergistically with the resort’s new 1,500 seat event center. Wooden textures, stacked stone and warm colors were mixed with pops of red, hot pink and sparkling mosaic to distinguish the brand, while integrating it with the “rustic-modern” aesthetic of the resort property.

A renovation of two existing buildings at the corner of Bourbon St. and D’Iberville, HBG’s design of the new 10,000 SF Hard Rock Cafe New Orleans is distinctly Southern Gothic in theme. The new venue design blends this historic river city’s iconic, eclectic culture with the high-energy, world renowned Hard Rock Cafe brand. From the bold colors in the porcelain tiled floor to the larger than life custom-made beer bottle chandelier over the bar, this restaurant is truly one -of-a-kind for the brand.

HBG’s Northern Quest Resort expansion project outside Spokane, Washington was honored with two AAA Four-Diamond awards, for the resort and for their fine dining restaurant, Masselow’s. The Wind Creek Resort, near the Alabama Gulf Coast–an HBG designed project–has also been honored with the AAA Four-Diamond award.In the years since we opened our Westin Memphis Beale Street Hotel, the property has exceeded our goals vs competitors on all fronts. Taking visitors along an open road of 92 motorcycles, HBG’s design team created an artful, unobtrusive backdrop to enhance the evolutionary story of these legends on wheels. A touring motorcycle exhibition licensed by the Guggenheim Museum, HBG’s exhibit designs for the Memphis show and its next stop at the Orlando Museum of Art capture the spirit of previous shows with a distinction all their own. To engage the senses, designers worked to develop a hierarchy between dynamic design elements to produce a sensation of continuous movement through the exhibit. The project artfully explores the motorcycle’s elusive reputation from its humble industrial beginnings to its portrayal as a symbol of reckless danger, sex, beauty, speed, independence and freedom.

The new 5-story, 132-key, 100,000 SF Apache Hotel has been called “the most fun hotel from Oklahoma City to Dallas” and is now also one of the most luxurious lodging options in the Southwest Oklahoma gaming market. Hnedak Bobo Group and our design partner, Rossetti Architects, worked with our Client through an interactive master planning and design process to establish and resourcefully maximize new and expanded program amenities – a casino expansion, a new 400-room high-rise hotel and 3500-car parking structure – on two compact urban sites around existing structures in the bustling, historic Greektown District of Detroit. Designers wove the parking structure into the fabric of the hotel tower and utilized a pedestrian bridge over a major thoroughfare to physically link hotel and casino, allowing guests to be under cover, protected from the Detroit weather, from car to casino.

Taking Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion in Memphis to a “higher level,” the new $70 million resort-style Guest House at Graceland will include 450 rooms, a restaurant and sports lounge, a performance center and meeting rooms. The Guest House at Graceland will be the third-largest hotel in Memphis. The project has been on Graceland’s “wish list” since the mansion and grounds opened for tours in the early 1980s. The hotel site is set back from Elvis Presley Boulevard, and beautifully integrated into the surrounding tree-filled landscape adjacent to the Graceland mansion.
