How do I earn an endorsement?Students earn an endorsement by completing the curriculum requirements for the FHSP in addition to:

1 credit of math

1 credit of science

2 credits of electives

FHSP + Endorsement:

● English (4 credits)● Math (3 credits + 1 credit for endorsement)● Science - (3 credits + 1 credit for endorsement)● Social Studies (3 credits)● Languages Other Than English (2 credits)● Physical Education (1 credit)● Fine Art (1 credit)● Electives (3.5 credits + 2 credits for

Distinguished Level of AchievementTo earn Distinguished Level of Achievement students must successfully complete the following:

1. The curriculum requirements for the FHSP; and

2. The curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement; and

3. Successfully complete FOUR credits in science and FOUR credits in math to include Algebra II

Performance AcknowledgementsDual Credit:

● Successfully complete 12 hours of college academic courses, including locally articulated courses, with a grade of the equivalent of 3.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0

○ Basically, earn a grade of 83 or higher on a 100 point scale

Industry Recognized Certification:● Performance on an examination or

series of examinations sufficient to obtain a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification

Performance AcknowledgementsBilingualism & Biliteracy:

● Completion of all English Language Arts requirements and maintaining a minimum GPA of the equivalent of 80 on a scale of 100; and

● Completion of a minimum of three credits in the same language in a language other than English with a minimum GPA of the equivalent of 80 on a scale of 100

In addition to meeting the above requirements, to earn a performance acknowledgement in bilingualism and biliteracy, an English language learner must also have:

● participated in and met the criteria for a bilingual or English as a second language (ESL) program; and

● scored at the Advanced High level on the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS)

Performance AcknowledgementsCollege Board AP Test:

● A score of 3 or above on a College Board Advanced Placement examination

SAT/ACT/PSAT Test:1. SAT - 410 on Evidenced-based reading and

520 on Math; or2. ACT - composite of 28 (excluding the writing

subscore); or3. earning a score on the PSAT/National Merit

Scholarship Qualifying Test that qualifies the student for recognition as a commended scholar or higher by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation
