    General Announcements

    (New) On Thursday, March 31, at 7:00 p.m., WFAAChannel 8 will host aTown Hall Meeting called "Beyond Bullying" at the RHS Performing ArtsCenter on the Utley Campus. This event is part of the Channel 8emphasis on the Rachel's Challenge program and will feature factualinformation from experts, truestory vignettes, questions from theaudience, and a proactive message. The event will last one hour andwill be recorded for broadcast. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. andChannel 8 is asking that audience members try to be seated by 6:45 p.m.so anchor/moderator John McCaa can give the audience some filminginstructions.WE NEED YOU! The information that will be presented will be veryvaluable and relevant and I am sure that RISD staff and parents willhave many pertinent questions for our presenters. This event is freeand open to the public. It is familyfriendly, but would probably be mostappropriate for students in middle school and high school. PLEASE JOINUS AS WE WANT TO SHOW OUR VIEWING AUDIENCE THAT

    ROCKWALL ISD SUPPORTS RACHEL'S CHALLENGE AND THE PROACTIVE ANTIBULLYING MESSAGE THAT WILL BE PRESENTED. Pleaselet me know if you have any questions.

    (New) Opportunity for Student Volunteer Hours Pullen Elementary is hosting a Chili Cookoff on Thursday, April14th. They are in need of Student Volunteers that are interested inearning 5 service hours for work from 4:308:30 p.m. to help with setup, games, and teardown. If you are interested, contact Ms. Moses at

    [email protected]. Springer Elementary is having a carnival and fun run on Saturday,April 16th. The official hours are 6:30am 1:30pm. Students can workas many hours as they would like. We need help with ticket sales,carnival games, set up, breakdown, registration, fun run, photographybooth, etc. You can email [email protected] , or call Cherry Rolfs @9727714622 to volunteer. Volunteer tshirts are available for $4.00.

    Attendance ProceduresAll absences require written documentation the day a student returns toschool. If you are signed up for Family Access, please enter absencenotifications through Skyward in lieu of written notes. Family Accessapplications are available on campus or on the district web site. Allparents are encouraged to sign up for this excellent source ofinformation. For questions or for a student's early release, please call

    4696982601. If your student has athletics 9th period and needs anearly release during that time, please call the office by 2:30.

    Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate all parents bringing in forgottenhomework, athletic clothes, lunch, etc. Students WILL NOT be notifiedthat they have an item at the front desk. It is their responsibility tocheck for items left. Instructional time is crucial and we do not want towaste a moment of it! THANK YOU for your understanding.

    (New)AUTO CLUB RHHS Auto club has red and black H umbrellas instock and ready to sell for our fundraiser. They are great not only forthe rain but to keep the sun off you during all of those out door gamesand tournaments. If you are interested you can contact Mrs. Hyatt [email protected], send a student by room 3702, or ask Ms. Lopezat the front reception desk. The umbrellas are 60" golf umbrellas andthe cost is $30.

    (New)Congratulations, Tori Carney! On March 2526, 2011 AmericanDance and Drill Team held their National Competition at the Universityof North Texas in Denton, Texas. Freshman Tori Carney competed withher Junior Varsity solo. Congratulations to her for winning the JuniorVarsity Division. She was considered the best soloist in that Division.

    Counseling News

    (New) Students who are taking AP classes need to pay for their APExams by Friday, April 1. The AP exam schedule and payment form arein the appendix on page 13.

    Current 11th graders: The Guidance Office still has TEA fee waivers forthe SAT or ACT. All 11th graders planning on attending a 4yearuniversity should plan to take the SAT or ACT this spring.

    (New) This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to attendcollege but have not really thought about how to make it happen. Anystudent interested, please go to the web site and complete theapplication. TACAC's Camp College 2011 June 68, 2011 Huntsville,Texas. Camp College is a threeday summer program for rising college

    bound high school juniors and seniors. Students will learn about avariety of colleges and universities, build relationships with manyadmission representatives and college counselors, as well as spend twonights on the campus of Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, TX).All applications are due April 15.     HBO News

    (New) Important deadline information. It has come to our attentionthat there have been some glitches in HBO membership forms and duesthis year. Since the HBO is a charitable organization and since we wantto be Inclusive instead of exclusive, we are extending the deadline for allHBO membership forms, together with dues payments, as well as allscholarship applications to and including April 1, 2011.Please turn in membership forms with dues and contributions by April1, 2011, to Pam Nunnally in the athletic office or to ChristinaCastleberry, Susie Ballard or myself. If you have ANY doubt as to

    whether youre a current member, please contact Christina Castleberryat [email protected]. Please contact her in sufficient timefor her to be able to respond to you in time to take care of this if yourenot a current member. HBO Membership form is in the appendix (P.11).

    With regard to scholarship applications, please have your senior go bythe counselors office (Mr. Jones office) and complete and turn in thescholarship application no later than April 1, 2011. This applicationdoes take a few minutes to complete, so please remind your student of

    that fact. At this time, the HBO anticipates awarding approximately 10 $1,000 scholarships, and we want all who are interested to be includedin the scholarship process.     RHHS Booster Club Contributions

    RHHS Hawk Booster Organization Membership 2010-2011

    This form is to be completed for any RHHS booster club Contribution or Membership.

    The RHHS Hawk Booster Organization (HBO) is an organization of the presidents of

    participating booster clubs. The HBO provides funds and assistance to clubs and promotesparticipation in RHHS activities. The HBO provides college scholarships annually to RHHS

    graduates.HBO Membership is $10 per person and entitles you to a vote in the HBO Booster clubs. Thismeans for $10 you have a membership (voting rights) for all booster clubs supporting all yourstudents activities. There is no need to join multiple booster clubs. Elected officers andmembers who would like to vote in their own clubs must be a member of the HBO. Membershipis September 1, 2010August 31, 2011.

    To be eligible for an HBO scholarship seniors must have at least one parent as a member OR be amember themselves. The membership must be in place no later than March 1, 2011.

    The HBO scholarships total $20,000 for 2010 RHHS Graduates.

    Booster Club Contributions are appreciated. Please also consider making a contribution to yourbooster club.Contribution levels are: Talon $250 or more Century $100 - $249 Black$99 - $50 Redup to $49
