Singapore: Malay language education• We need to keep up with students’ changing interest, especially

those in secondary schools.

• They are logged on to the Internet-world of MSN, blogging,

Facebook and these have evolved them to be computer-savvy individuals.

• I would like to encourage teachers to be able to use the same platforms to develop a community of young Malay intellectuals who are able to act as a catalyst in creating

critical and creative thinkers.

Student A’s contribution• ‘…there were never times where parents were

satisfied with how well their children have done because they thought that their children could have done better.

• Such a situation does occur for me. Personally, I felt demoralised, despite the fact that I have reach my goals many times, but it was never enough to satisfy my parents.

• However, this does not mean that children should not be compared or ranked. Comparing and ranking are like sweets. Some of it can do some good to the child but too much of it is unhealthy.’
