in this week’s
Hastings Banner:If you didn’t pick up your copy of the April 10th
Banner, here’s what you missed ...• Damaged fence removed from Riverside Cemetery. Aseverely damaged portion of the fence that borderedRiverside Cemetery on the south side of West State Road(left) was recently removed, put into storage and the groundfilled and graded (right) until the Riverside CemeteryAdvisory Committee and the City of Hastings decide whetherthe fence, which once encircled the Barry CountyCourthouse, should be repaired, replaced or removed andpreserved and put to use in another location.
• County board modifies abstractor agreement. CountyBoard Vice Chair Jim DeYoung asked that the agenda itemallowing the register of deeds to hire a new abstractor beremoved from Tuesday’s consent agenda in order to discussthe specifics of the request.
• Inter-county Cuddy Drain saga continues. What began as asimple project to replace rusting culverts on Patterson Roadhas become a major project to repair tributaries to the drain, locate and remove illegal connections to the drain, changethe handling of debris, arrange for disposal of dredged mate-rial, locate the source of E. coli contamination in Gun Lake, and add maybe an odd end or two. All to be accomplishedwith an assessment of costs on a “fair and equitable” basis.
• And much more . . .
