I recently submitted a gift guide. It got rejected because someone made onebefore I submitted mine. While I was putting information into it, I keptthinking of more stuff I wanted to put that didn't really have anything to dowith gifts. So, since they didn't accept my gift guide I decided to make a fullguide. This will only be my second guide so far. Since it is only my second Iwill appreciate any helpful hints, corrections, questions, comments,complaints, or information I haven't included in this guide yet, through email.I hope this guide includes what you are looking for, if not, check again laterand it might be there.

The story starts out with you wandering on to an old man's farm. He invites youand your family to stay on the farm for vacation. Right before you leave heasks you to write to him.

Years later you come back to the farm looking for the old man because he hasnot written you back in a while. When you get there the mayor tells you thatthe old man has passed on. He also tells you that the old man has left you hisfarm in his will. You have a short conversation with the mayor and thensuddenly you wake up in the house on the farm the next day.

Your character, of course, is you. You get to name him and give him a birthday.You also get to name his dog and the farm. Your character's history is in thecity with your parents. He grew up in the city. A chance meeting with an oldman while on a vacation leads to him getting the farm

Menus:To open the menu section press start. To open a particular menu press thefollowing:

Diary-Select it in the menus section.

Rucksack-Press "A" and "B" at the same time

World Map-Press and hold "L" and press "START"

Farm Map-Press and hold "L" and press "SELECT"

Earnings-Press "SELECT"

Moving your character:To move your character, simply press the directional buttons. You can make himrun by holding down the "R" button. You can make him permanently run by goingto your diary, going down to "Buttons" and changing it from "1" to "2".

Controls with items:To pick up an item press "A" while standing beside it. To throw the item awaypress "A" while holding it. To eat the item(if it is food) press and hold "L"then press "B".

Rucksack controls:To put items in your rucksack press"B" while holding the item. To take itemsout of your rucksack press and hold "L" then press "A".While you are on the rucksack menu, you can scroll by simply pressing thedirectional buttons. To select and item press "A". To move from one side ofthe menu to the other press "L" or "R".

Tool Controls:To use a tool, equip it and press "B"(you can't have anything in your hands).To swith tools press and hold "L" then press "B". To charge a tool press andhold "B" then release it when you reach the level of power that you want touse.

Whistling:To whistle press "L".

When you first start the game you have a rucksack that you can keep tools anditems in.

Your rucksack starts out with 3 spaces to keep tools and 3 spaces for items(including the spot for holding the item).

You can buy bigger rucksacks at the supermarket. The first one you can buycosts 3000g and increases your holding capacity to 5 spaces on each side. Thesecond and last one you can buy increases the holding capacity to 9 spaces oneach side.

(5d.) \|/ \|/ -----Stamina and Fatigue----- /|\ /|\

~~Stamina~~Stamina is the amount of Healthy Energy you have. As you work throughout theday, your stamina will go down. You wake up every morning with about 100

stamina points. Doing different things takes away different amounts of stamina.Some tools take away more than others.

~Your character will show signs letting you know about how much stamina youhave left.-When he wipes his forehead, he has about 50 points left.-When he slumps over a little bit, he has about 25 points left.-When he sits down he has about 10 points left.-When he falls down completely he has 0 points left.

~When you eat power berries your max stamina will increase permanently by 5 points

~~Fatigue~~

Fatigue is how tired your character is. After you use all of your stamina youwill start to get fatigue. The number of fatigue points you get will increasewith the amount of work you do after you use all of you stamina. If you get50 points of fatigue your character will pass out.

~Your character will show signs letting you know about how much fatigue you have.-When he shakes his head, he has about 25 points.-When his face turns blue he has about 40 points.-When he passes out he has about 50 points.

~When you eat the Blue Mystic Berry(SEE POWER BERRIES SECTION) the max amount of fatigue you can get without passing out will increase.

~When you pass out you will end up at the Clinic, and it will be the next day.

On your first day you need to explore the town, meet the villagers, get used tothe map, and plant your first seeds. You should start buy heading out the Northexit of your farm. Go to as many buildings as you can and meet all of thevillagers you find in them. As you make your way around the village you willcome by the store in the middle of the most Northern part of the village. Youneed to go here in order to buy seeds to plant on your farm.

Seeds will be the big moneymaker on your farm for at least the first fewseasons and maybe the first year. As you enter the store you should see theseeds in the middle of the room(for other information on the store go to theVILLAGE section). Walk up to them and press "A". You have a choice of Turnips,Potatoes, Cucumbers, and Grass. Do not worry about the grass for now(forinformation on it go to the ANIMALS section). You have 500g and can buy 2-3packages of seeds. It is your choice to which ones you buy, but I advise thatyou go with buying 3 packages of Turnip seeds, seeing as they grow the fastestand cost the least. You can make a pretty good profit off of turnips comparedto the other seeds(see CROPS section for more details). Once you buy them theywill be put into the tools part of your rucksack, unless it is full, then itwill be sent to you toolbox(see YOUR FARM section for more details).

Now explore the rest of the village and return to your farm when you want toplant your seeds.(Go to the CROPS section to learn how to plant your crops).

On your farm you start out with your small house, a mailbox, a shipping bin,a barn, a stable, a wood bin, a chicken coop, an apple tree with a beehive, awater hole, and a huge field.

A. House:

Your house includes a bed, a diary, a tv, a table, and a toolbox. You will beable to get more stuff in your house once you expand it. Every Morning you willwake up at the table and automatically eat something for breakfast. Yourtoolbox already has 5 tools in it. The tools are: watering can, hoe, hammer,axe and sickle(see TOOLS section for more information on them). To use the tvsimply walk up to it and press "A". There are four stations. Press UP to getthe weather station, RIGHT to get the upcoming events station, DOWN to get thelife on the farm station and LEFT to get the miscellaneous station(see TV SHOWSsection for more information). The bed is self explanatory. Use the diary tosave your game.

B. Mailbox:

You will get mail in your mailbox every once in a while. You will usually getmail at the beginning of the season, but you will also recieve mail forannouncements from the villagers.

C. Shipping Bin:

Once you leave your house on the first day, Zack will explain the shipping binsto you.

D. Dog House:

This really serves no purpose because your dog never uses it. It's only fordecoration.

E. Barn:

You will use your barn to keep cows and sheep in once you can afford to buythem. You will find eight spots to put food(fodder) in to feed your cows andsheep. You will also find a spot at the top area of the barn where the food isstored(see ANIMALS section for more information). There is also a shipping binin the barn.

F. Wood Bin:

Your Wood bin is between the barn and stable. When you chop wood it willautomatically go to the bin. You can take it out buy walking up to it andpressing "A".

G. Stable:

The only reason you have a stable is to keep your horse in onrainy days(when you get it, see ANIMALS section).

H. Apple Tree:

Your apple tree will have a beehive that you can get honey from everyday. Youcan ship honey. It will also produce apples during the fall.

I. Water Hole:

Use it to fill your watering can.

J. Chicken Coop:

You will use your chicken coop to keep chickens in once you can afford to buythem. You will find four spots to put chicken feed in to feed your chickens.You will also find an incubator to put eggs in so they can hatch into babychicks(see ANIMAL section). You will also find a spot where the chicken feed isstored. There is also a shipping bin in the chicken coop.

K. Huge Field:

You can use your field to plants crops in. You can also use it to plant grassto let your cows and sheep graze in(see ANIMALS section).

L. River:

You can go fishing there.

H. Woodcutter's House: Gotz lives here. You can get gotz to expand buildings on your farm there.(see BUILDING UPGRADES section.)

J. Entrance To Secret Path: There is a HUGE boulder blocking the way to this path. Once you get the cursed hammer, you will be able to break it. During the fall you will find 2 truffles in this path. Other than that, it is there for no reason.

~~~~~~^~~~~~~(9a. | Regular Tools | ~~~~~~v~~~~~~ You start out with five basic tools that you can find in your toolbox when youstart the game include the Watering Can, Hoe, Hammer, Axe, Sickle, andpedometer.

Watering Can:

Used to water crops.

Hoe:

Used to till the soil in your field before you plant your seeds. Also used inthe mines to dig(see MINING section).

Hammer:

Used to smash rocks. Also used to flatten tilled soil. Also used to smash

ruined fences.

Axe:

Used to chop sticks and stumps to collect lumber.

Sickle:

Used to cut weeds. Also used to cut grass you've grown and turn it into fodderfor your cows and sheep.

Pedometer:

Used to record the number of steps you take.(Kindof useless)

(9b.) Extra Tools

There are more tools you get that you don't start out with. They are thefishing pole, brush, milker, wool sheers, and a bell.

Fishing Pole:

To get it you must have one open space in your rucksack for a tool. Then youmust go to the beach and enter Zack's house. There will be a cutscene(seeCUTSCENES section) and Zack will give it to you. If a different cutscenehappens, just exit after it is done and reenter. Used to catch fish(see FISHING section).

Brush:

Buy it from the Blacksmith.Used to keep a nice, healthy coat on your horse, cows, and sheep.

Milker:

Buy it from the Blacksmith.Used to get milk from your cow.

Wool Sheers:

Buy it from the Blacksmith.Used to cut wool off of sheep.

Bell:

Buy it from Yodel Farm(see VILLAGE section).Used to call your cows and sheep. They will come to you when you ring it.

(9c.) Leveling Up

All of them start out as normal, but as you use certain tools more and more,you get more experienced with them and can eventually level them up. The toolsyou can level up are the Watering Can, Hoe, Hammer, Axe, Sickle, and fishingpole. To level them up you must take them to the blacksmith and he will do itfor you. Once you get 100% experience you can level it up the first time, 200%for the next level, then 300%, then 400% to get it to the last level. In orderto level them up you must get ore from the Spring Mine(see MINING section).

-Once you get 100% you need to take the tool, a copper ore and 1000g to theblacksmith.-When you get 200% you need to take the tool, a silver ore and 2000g to theblacksmith.-When you get 300% you need to take the tool, a gold ore and 3000g to theblacksmith.-When you get 400% you need to take the tool, a mystrile ore and 5000g to theblacksmith.

Any time you level up a tool you can charge it by pressing and holding the "B"button. Charging tools will produce greater effect on the use of them.

Effects of Leveling Up:

X represents squares affected by tool.

--Watering Can: Water a greater amount of squares at one time.

Once you level up all of the tools to Mystrile level you will be able to findthe Cursed tools in the winter mine(see MINING section).

Cursed Tools are more powerful versions of your tools that, once equiped,cannot be unequipped unless removed by Carter or Blessed.

Once you get them you will be able to uncurse them. After you uncurse them youcan upgrade them 1 more time by getting the Mythic stone from the Spring Mine(see MINING section) and taking it, the blessed tool, and 20,000g to theBlacksmith.

Planting crops will probably be your biggest money maker for at least the firstcouple of years. You can get seeds from the supermarket. Each bag of seedstakes up a 3x3 section adding up to 9 spaces.

There are a total of 15 different crops. There are 5 for every season exceptWinter, you can not grow crops in Winter. The crops are all different in the

way that they take different amounts of time to grow and there selling pricesare different. Some crops will grow back without you having to plant more seedsafter you harvest them. You can also plant flowers, I will list them at the endof this section. Here is a list of all of the crops including their name,season, time it takes them to grow, if they regrow and time it takes them toregrow, and the total profit you make from every bag of seeds:

There are 3 types of seeds listed above that you will not be able to purchaseat the supermarket until you meet a requirment. They are the Strawberry,Pumpkin, and Spinach. To get the Strawberry seeds you must ship 100 Turnips,100 potatoes, and 100 Cucumbers. To get the Pumpkin seeds you must ship 100Onions, 100 Tomatoes, and 100 stalks of Corn. To get the Spinach seeds you mustship 100 Carrots, 100 Eggplants, and 100 Sweet Potatoes. Once you meet therequirement for each one they will be available for you to purchase at thesupermarket during the season that they are planted in.

Flowers only serve a couple of purposes in the game. The first purpose is themost important one, gifts for girls. Depending on which girl you are going for,flowers can be VERY helpful when trying to get her to like you. You can findthe flowers in the wild, but you can also plant them yourself by buying seedsfrom Won. Here is a list of the flowers, their seasons, where you can findthem, and how long it takes for them to grow if you plant them yourself:

There are 2 flowers that are hard to come by unless you know how to find them.

Red Magic Red GrassSeason: FallFound: There is only 1 way to find them, and that is to plant them yourself. You need to buy the Magic Red Grass seeds from Won. Then go to your farm and plant them. Most of the time the flowers will grow and turn out blue, but every once in a while some will turn out red. An easy way to get them to turn out red is to save your game right before you plant them. Once you have planted them, go to the map screen of your farm. scroll around until you find the spot where you planted them. You will see pictures showing where they have been planted. If the flowers are blue then they will show up blue. If they are red then they will show up red. If none of them show up red, then just load and plant them again until they turn up red.Purpose: The purpose of the red magic red flower is that you can use it to make recipes. Unlike other flowers, you can sell it.

The White Winter FlowerSeason: WinterFound: This flower is VERY hard to find. First you must be in your 5th year. Second you must be friends with Basil and Ellen. Third you must go to Ellen's house and trigger an event where Ellen tells you about the flower. Fourth you must go to the Peak of Mother's Hill at night after you have triggered the event. There you will see the White Winter Flower

(10c.) Clearing Your Field

Before you can plant your crops you must clear some space in your field toplant them. In your field there are weeds, sticks, stones, tree stumps, bigrocks, and boulders. To get rid of weeds you can use your sickle or simply pickit up and throw it. To get rid of sticks, use your axe on them. I recommendthat you do not destroy the stone because you can use them to make a verystrong fence compared to a wooden fence(see ANIMALS section). If you want touse them later to make a fence, just pick them up and set them down in a partof the field that your not using. If you are not going to use them, use thehammer to smash them. You can not get rid of tree stumps and big rocks until

you level your axe and hammer up to level 1. You cannot get rid of bouldersuntil you level your hammer up to level 2.

(10d.) Tilling Soil

Before you plant your seeds you must till the soil with the hoe. When youlay the seeds out they will always be spread in a 3X3 pattern so that is thepattern you must till. Until you get your watering can leveled up to level 3you will not be able to reach the center square with the watering can so itwould be best to till in the following patterns so you can reach all of theplants(X represents a tilled square):

Personally I think the first one works the best.

(10e.) Planting The Seeds

Once you have tilled the soil you can plant the seeds. Place the seeds in thetool section of your rucksack. Then equip them. Make sure you are in the verycenter of the 3X3 pattern then use the seeds like a tool to plant them. If youdid it right you should see little dots on the tilled soil.

(10f.) Watering Your Crops

Once you have planted the seeds you can water them. If you haven't alreadyfilled your watering can with water, do so at the water hole by the field. Onceit has water in it you can water your crops by standing next to the square youwant to water and pressing "B". If you have done it right the square should bedarker than it was before. Make sure you water your crops everyday. You do notneed to water when it is raining.

(10g.) Harvesting Crops

You will know that your crops are ready to be harvested when you can pick themup out of the ground. When you pick them up simply put them in the shippingbin. Now you are ready to plant more crops.

After a couple of years your animals will become your biggest money maker. Butyou must properly take care of them to make the full possible profit.

(11a.) Your Dog

You get the dog at the beginning of the game, and you get to name him. When thegame starts he is just a puppy but will be fully grown at the beginning of thefall. When he is fully grown, you can enter him into the Beach day contest.

Your dog does not serve many purposes. You don't have to take care of him. Theonly purpose he really serves is on Beach day. If you win the beach day contestthen you get a power berry.

--Taking Care of him--The only thing you have to do to take care of him is bring him inside when itrains. To get him to like you more, simply pick him up and put him down again.

(11b.) Your Horse

You get the horse during the first few days of the game. Barley should show upat your house within the first week of the game. He will ask you to take careof the horse. If you accept you will be able to name it. Your horse will befully grown exactly one year after you get him. Then you can enter him into thehorse races

Your horse serves a couple of helpful purposes. When he is fully grown you willbe able to ride him around your farm. He will also have a shipping bag on hisback. You will also be able to enter him into the horse race to win a powerberry.

--Taking Care of Him--All you have to do is brush him, talk to him, and put him in the barn when itis raining.

About a year after you get your horse, Barley will come to check if you aretaking care of it properly. If you have 6+ hearts you can keep the horse,but if you have less than 6 hearts will take care of it for another year.

(11c.) Chickens

In order to get chickens you must go to the poultry farm and buy one. It willbe about 1500g. You get to name it when you buy it. When you buy a chicken, itis also a good idea to buy some food for it. Which is 10g a piece.

You only have to buy one chicken because once it lays an egg you can put thategg into the incubator and the egg will hatch after 3 days. It will be borninto a chick and takes about 8 days for it to become fully grown.

--Taking Care of Them--To take care of them you must feed each one once a day. If you cannot affordfood for them then you can keep them outside for them to eat worms. You musttake them back inside if it is raining.

Your chickens will produce eggs for you when they are fully grown. These eggs

will become more valuable as your chickens start to like you more. Here is thevalue of eggs and the number of hearts the chicken must have to produce theegg:

Regular Egg-0-3 hearts

Good Egg-4-7 Hearts

Excellent Egg-8-10 hearts

--GOLDEN EGGsYour Chicken will also produce golden eggs if you enter it into the chickenfestival and win. If you win and the chicken does not have at least 8 heartsit will not produce golden eggs until it has the 8 hearts.

--P EGGSYour chicken will be able to produce p size eggs after you meet 3 requirements.You must have 8 hearts or more for it, you must have won the Chicken Festival,and you must have kept your chickens outside for a total of 600 game hours or30 days.

--X EggsX Eggs are completely random and rare. Your chicken must be producing P sizeeggs. Every once in a while it might lay a X egg but it doesn't happen veryoften.

(11d.) Cows

(11e.) Fences and Grass

If you are going to keep your animals outside it is a good idea to build afence to put them in. The fence will keep wild dogs from attacking them andkeep them from getting lost.

Building a Fence: All you need to build a fence is wood and room in your field To make a fence simply get a piece of wood from your woodbin and put it on the ground somewhere on your field, now put more beside that one and make a square shape to eclose the animals.

-Another more efficient way to build a fence is by using the small stones in your field instead of wood

///////////Grass////////////

If you are going to keep your cows and sheep outside you will need to have fullgrown grass in your field for them to eat.

Growing Grass: You can buy grass seeds from the supermarket for 1000g. You grow it just like you would grow any other crop except you don't have to water it. It will grow on its own once you plant it.

--When it is full grown you can put your cows and sheep outside or you can cut the grass with your sickle for fodder. Once you cut the grass it will automatically go into your barn in the fodder container.

There is a reason to have an axe and collect all of that wood. You can expandyour house(twice), Barn, and Chicken Coop. You need wood and money in order toexpand them.

House:

Barn: Cost: 6,800g Wood Required: 500

Chicken Coop: Cost: 5,000g Wood Required: 420

After you get all of those upgrades there will be more available, includinga Bathtub, changing your Mailbox, changing your Window, and changing your Doghouse. The new options for the window, mailbox, and doghouse will be, Blue,Red, and Weird.

In order to get any of the girls to marry you, you must have met all of theserequirements first.

-Have the biggest house and the big bed.-She must have a Red heart.-You must buy the Blue feather.-You have to have seen all of the heart events.(see CHARACTER EVENTS section)-Then you must give her the Blue Feather.

You will automatically get married 7 days after you give the girl the BlueFeather.

If he likes youhe will invite you to the wedding.

You can find him working at the Aja winery during the day after that.

The Harvest Sprites are the most helpful characters in the game. If you becomefriends with them they will help you on your farm by Watering Plants,Harvesting Plants, and Taking Care of your animals. In order to get them tolike you, you must become friends with you by giving them gifts.

Like your animals, they have a heart meter that lets you know how much theylike you. To see their heart meter, go to the earnings menu and scroll untilyou see a menu that says Harvest Sprites at the top. It shows a list with allof their faces, beside each of their faces is their heart meter. They willoffer to help you on your farm once they have 3-4 hearts.

When they first start working on your farm, they will not be the best workers.In order for them to get better at their jobs you must do the following:

If you throw a cucumber in, once a day,for ten days straight, on the last day he will offer you the mysterious bluepower berry to leave him alone. The power berry permanently increases themaximum amount of fatigue you can get by 50 points.

Festivals are the social events of the town that happen every year. They canserve no purpose at all or can benefit you greatly. Here is a list of all ofthe festivals of Mineral Town, all of the festivals are held in the square andstart at 10 am unless it says otherwise.

Spring 1New Year's Day

On New Year's Day you can go to the Bar and have a few Drinks with some friendsor you can go to the square and eat ricecakes with some friends. If you go tothe square, when you leave you will receive some ricecakes, which you can cookwith.

Spring 14Spring Thanksgiving

On Spring Thanksgiving its not really a festival because noone gathers tocelebrate. If you have a kitchen and the right ingredients, you can makecookies or cake for a girl to increase her affection towards you.

Spring 18Horse Race

If your horse is fully grown you can enter the horse race. If you win, youreceive a power berry. If you don't enter you can go and bet on other horses.If you win the bet, you get Horse medals, which you can use to purchase items(including a power berry and jewel of truth from the Mayor. You can onlypurchase these items at the horse race.

Spring 22Cooking Festival

If you have a kitchen and can cook, you can enter the cooking festival. If not,

you can go and watch someone else win. In order to enter the cooking festivalyou must go to the square and talk to the Gourmet, he will tell you what kindof food to make. Go back home and make that type of food. Take it back to thesquare and give it to the Mayor. Then the Gourmet will judge all of the dishesand decide the winner. I don't remember if you get anything if you win, but Iwill let you know.

Summer 1Beach Day

This festival happens at the beach. If your dog is fully grown you can enterhim in the beach day contest. The object is to throw a frisbee as far as youcan and have your dog catch it. If you win, you get a power berry.

Summer 7Chicken Festival

If you have a full grown chicken, you can enter it in this contest. The objectis to cheer your chicken on to get him to scare another chicken out of a ring.You go up against 3 chickens. If you win, your chicken will start laying Goldeneggs as soon as it has 8 hearts or higher for you.

Summer 20Cow Festival

If you have a full grown Cow that isn't pregnant you can enter it in thiscontest. The only this you have to do to get it to win is to take very goodcare of the cow. It must have at least 8 hearts for you and be healthy. If youwin, your cow will start giving Golden Milk.

Summer 24Fireworks Festival

This event occurs on the Beach at 6 pm. If you are interested in a girl and herheart level is green or higher you can watch the fireworks with her to get heraffection for you to increase. In order to get her to watch fireworks with you,talk to everyone on the beach and talk to her last, she will ask you to watchthe fireworks with her.

Fall 3Music Festival

This event occurs in the Church at 6 pm. You can participate by telling Carteryes when he asks you if you want to participate. If you participate, all of thevillager's affection for you will increase.

Fall 9Harvest Festival

If you bring an ingredient to the harvest festival and its a good ingredient,give it to the mayor to put in a pot with other ingredients. If the villagerslike it, their affection for you will increase.

Fall 13Festival at Mother's Hill

This event occurs at the Peak of Mother's Hill at 6 pm. You can go there towatch the full moon with the girl that has the highest affection for you.

Fall 18Horse Race

Its just like the one in Spring except its in the Fall.

Fall 21Sheep Festival

Its just like the cow festival except with a sheep. Your sheep must be fullygrown, healthy, and have wool on it. It must have at least 8 hearts for you tohave a chance of winning. If you win, your sheep will produce golden wool.

Fall 30Pumpkin Festival

Its just like Halloween. When you wake up in the morning, May will come to yourhouse and ask for some candy, Stu will come at 8 am and ask you for some candy,and Popuri will come over at 10 am and ask you for some candy. If you give themsome chocolate their affection for you will increase.

Winter 2Thomas's Request

This is not really a festival. The mayor will come over at 6 am and ask you toget a random rare item for him. He will come back at the end of the day or thenext day(i can't really remember) to get the item. If you get it for him, hewill give you some golden lumber.

Winter 14Valentines Day

This is just like Spring Thanksgiving except the girls give YOU candy and cake.As long as the girls heart is higher than black, she will show up at your doorand give you cookies or cake depending on how much she likes you.

Winter 24Starry Festival

If the girl you are interested in has a heart level of green or higher for youshe will invite you over to her house for dinner. If you go to her house at 6pmyou will have dinner with her and her family. Her and Her family's affectionfor you will increase.

Winter 25Stocking Festival

If you get Ellen to make a stocking for you and hang it on your wall the night

before the 25th, you might get a surprise in it the next day.

Winter 30New Year's Eve

You can go to the peak of Mother's Hill at 10pm and watch the first sunrise ofthe year with some friends or you can go to the square and eat some buckwheatwith some friends. If you go to the square you will recieve some buckwheatwhen you leave.

Finding a wife is one of the main parts, if not, the most important part of thegame. When you get married it's like beating the game. You even get the creditsfor the game in your mail the day after you get married.

The girls you have to choose from are: Ann, Karen, Mary, Elli, and Popuri.(see CHARACTER section for information on them and gifts to give them.

In order to get a girl to marry you, you must get her to fall in love with you.Giving gifts to girls increases their heart level(how much they like you). Theheart levels in order are: Black, Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red.Once it reaches red you can ask the girl to marry you. But it isn't thatsimple. You have to meet certain requirements to get married.

1. Have the biggest house and the big bed.2. She must have a Red heart.3. You must buy the Blue feather.4. You have to have seen all of the heart events.(see CHARACTER EVENTS section)5. Then you must give her the Blue Feather.

You will automatically get married 7 days after you give her the blue feather.You will not be able to do anything on the day of your wedding, so plan aheadand get the Harvest Sprites to take care of your animals and water your cropson that day.

One season after you get married your wife will be complaining about feelingsick. She will go to the Doctor and he will tell her that she is pregnant. 3seasons later, your son will be born. On the day he is born you will not beable to do anything so plan ahead.

Exactly one month after he is born you will wake up to your wife telling youthat he fell or that he is sick. You will automatically go to the clinic andthe Doctor will say that he's fine. You will not be able to do anything thatday, so plan ahead.

When he is born your wife will carry him around until he can walk, so you willnot be able to talk to him or hold him. Exactly one year after he is born hewill learn to walk and you will be able to talk to him and give him gifts.

Your family will celebrate on special occasions. These occasions include, yourbirthday, your wife's birthday, your son's birthday, and your anniversery.

In order to activate these celebrations,all you have to do is walk into yourhouse after 12pm. Your wife and son will be standing there and there will befood on the table. You will automatically go to bed after the celebration, sofinish your work before you go in.

You will also celebrate on certain festivals like the starry night festival.You activate these celebrations just like you activate the other ones.

Mining is an important part of the game because you need it to fully progressin the game. When mining you can find useful ore, jewels you can sell, and eventools.

~~ When you enter a mine you will see rocks and dirt. If you smash the rocks with your hammer you will find ore, jewels, and even new tools(see TOOLS or WINTER MINE section). If you till the dirt with your hoe you will find gold, black grass, and stairs going down.

~~ LEVELS There is more than just one level in the mine. If you till the ground you can find stairs going down. If you walk into them it will ask if you want to go down or not. Obviously if you would like to go down choose "Yes". If you go down to the next level you can go back up by walking into the stairs that you went down on. NOTE: If you go back up the stairs it will automatically take you back to the surface, it will not take you to the level before the one you are on. You can find more rare and valuable items on the deeper levels. As far as I know the mines go down to level 255.

~~ SAVE/RELOAD TRICK You may notice that when you are looking for items that are on the lower levels, you are unable to get them because you get tired before you get to the level the items are on. The first solution to this is to take Bodigizer, Bodigizer XL, and Elli leaves with you

(19b. ------------- / Spring Mine \ |_____|^|_____|

The Spring Mine is located by the Hot Spring and Waterfall. This mine is whereyou get all of the ore you need to upgrade your tools. You can also get the oreyou need to make you the cheese, mayonnaise, and yarn maker and the ore to makejewelery. You get all of these items by smashing the rocks with your hammer.

There are also other items you can find in the stones that can prove useful butare hard to find. These items are the Goddess Jewels and the teleportationstone. You can also find a Power Berry by digging.

Junk OreDescription: It looks like three little black stones that are stuck together.Use: The only use for these are to sell them, but I wouldn't recommend it because it only sells for 1g.

Fishing can be helpful. When you catch fish you can sale them, eat them, andcook them. In order to fish you must get the fishing pole from Zack first.

-To Fish you need to equip your fishing pole. Then you need to stand next to the water and use the fishing pole.

-When the hook goes into the water you will see the bobber on the surface of the water. When the bobber shakes and your character jerks, quickly press the "B" button. If you press it at the right time, you will catch something.

-You will not always catch fish. Sometimes you will catch garbage.

-The higher the level of the fishing pole, the bigger the fish you can catch.

Requirement: Introduce yourself to Barley

In the Spring of the first year Barley will show up at your house in themorning and ask you to take care of a pony. If you agree he will ask you toname it and then put it in the stable. When the horse grows up the next yearBarley will come back to check on it and as long as the horse has a certainamount of affection towards you, Barley will let you keep him

>Fishing Rod

Requirement: Have an empty slot in your rucksack

Enter Zack's house from 11am to 4pm. Zack will be digging through some junk andfind a fishing rod. He will then ask you if you would like to keep it.

> The Tea Party

Requirements: Good friends with the Harvest Sprites

During the Spring if you are friends with all of the Harvest Sprites, they maysend you an invitation to one of their tea parties. Go to the Sprite's houseeand give the invitation to one of the them. They will start the Tea Party. Atthe end you will receive Relaxation Tea Leaves.

>Stu is sick

Requirements: None

Enter Ellen's house on a Wednesday between 11am and 2pm. Ellen and Elli willbe discussing wether or not stu is sick. You will enter, then Elli will ask youto take Stu to the Clinicwhile she finds the Doctor. You will then appear inthe Clinic. The doctor says Stu will be fine. Elli thanks you. When you leave,it will be 6pm.

> Lillia's Birthday Gift

Requirements: Year one before Spring 19

Enter Zack's house between 11am and 4pm. Popuri will walk in and ask Zack ifher package arrived. She tells you that it is a birthday present for her momand she asks you not to tell her mother. If you say that you won't tell Lillia,she will become happy.

> Golden Service Time

Requirements: NoneEnter Zack's house between 11am to 4 pm. Zack and Won will greet you andWon will ask you if you would like to buy anything. Karen will walk in andWon comments on how beautiful Karen is. He will tell you to move out of the wayand begin speaking to Karen. He tells Karen that it is "Golden Service Time"and that she can take one item for free. After Karen leaves, Zach tries to getin on "Golden Service Time" Won then says its over and he must pay.

> Kai Arrives

Requirements: NoneExit your farm on the 30th of Spring on year 1 between 9am to 7pm. You willsee May and Popuri talking to Kai. He will introduce himself and tell you thathe runs the Beach House.

> Rick argues with Kai

Requirements: None

Go to the beach between 1pm to 5pm. Rick will walk up to Kai. Rick tellsKai not to see his sister anymore. They argue briefly and Kai says that hefeels sorry for Popuri for having a brother like Rick. They argue a little moreand Rick storms off.

> Help Kai at the Beach House

Requirements: None

Enter the Beach House between 5pm to 7pm. Kai will say hello and begin tocomplain that his shop has very few customers and he can't understand why.Popuri walks in and says that she has brought some customers. Kai asks you ifyou would help him. You agree and a few scenes are shown. At the end of the dayKai is exhausted and a brief conversation happens between him and Popuri. Kaithen thanks you and you will automatically reappear at your house.

> Gray Visits Kai

Requirements: None

Enter the Beach House between 11am to 1pm. You will see Gray ask Kai for somefood. Kai and Gray will greet you. Kai says that since Gray comes from thecity, he values his opinion. Grey says that Kai makes great food and then saysgoodbye and leave.

> Gotz's Bad Mood

Requirements: Gotz Cannot Be Your Friend

When you go to visit Gotz you might find that he is in a bad mood and doesn'twant to work on your farm anymore because he believes he is underappriciated.You will have to become friends with him before he will say that he is ready towork again.

> Ann's Mothers Funeral

Requirements: NoneThis event happens every year on Fall 5th. If you go to the inn Ann will tellyou that her father took the day off. If you go to the peak of Mother's Hill,Doug will bethere. He will tell you that today was the day that Ann's motherdied. He will leave the summit at 5 pm.

> Fall Grape Harvest

Requirements: None

On Fall 14th Duke will come to your house in the morning and ask if you willhelp harvest grapes. If you accept he will tell you to come at 10 am the nextmorning and to bring a partner with you. The only person that you can ask isCliff. If you do not ask Cliff, he will leave at the end of the year. Go to theWinery on the 15th and manna will ask you to help for a few hours. You and Cliff will talk to Duke and begin harvesting grapes. At the end of the day Dukewill thank you and offer Cliff a permanent job. Cliff will accept and beginworking at the Winery.

> Cliff's Secret

Requirement: Year 1 During the Winter

Enter Rose Square while it is snowing and you will see Cliff pass out, then hewill drop a picture. You take Cliff to the Hospital and the Doctor says that hewill need rest. If you give Cliff the picture he will tell you why he is alwaysupset.

> Drinking Contest

Requirements: Karen's heart level must be green

Go to the Inn when Karen and Duke are both there. You will see Karen and Dukearguing about a tab Duke has ran up. They decide to have a drinking contest andask you to judge them. If you agree the screen will go black and you will seeDuke on the floor, then Karen will slowly leave the bar. Doug asks you to dragDuke home and you will agree. When you bring him to his house Manna will thankyou and then begin to argue with DUke and you will leave.

> Doctor's Mistake

Requirements: None

Enter the Clinic between 1pm to 4pm on a Tuesday. You will see the Doctorapologizing to Jeff about a mistake. The Doctor tells you that he made a mistakeon Jeff's blood type. Jeff leaves saying he is going to talk to Sasha.

"In Japan, blood type is used to determine whether or not a couplewill be compatible when they're married. Some people won't even dateothers who are incompatible with their own blood type. If you talk toJeff again, he'll say he has to go tell Sasha since she has alwaystold him his personality was too kind for his blood type."

> Manna's Advice

Requirements: Friends with Sasha, Manna, and Anna

Enter Rose square between 1pm to 4pm when Sasha, Manna, and Anna there. One day,randomly, you might hear Manna saying that she is worried about her daughter andwishes she would come home. Anna and Sasha tell Manna that they will try toconvince her daughter to come home and Manna becomes happy.

> Sasha and Jeff's Relationship

Requirements: None

Enter the Poultry Farm on a Tuesday between 11am to 1pm. Sasha and Lillia willbe talking about Jeff and their relationship.

> Lillia's Sickness

Requirements: None

Enter the Poultry Farm during the summer. One random day Lillia will tell youthat the store is closed because she is not feeling well. Rick runs in withsome medicine, then Pouri runs in with medicine. Lillia says that she is happyfor having such wonderful children.

> Saibara and Ellen

Requirements: Year 2 or later

Enter Ellen's house on a rainy Friday. You will see Saibara walk in and greetEllen. They begin talking when Saibara notices that you are in the room. He askshow long you were standing there and Stu tells him that you've been there for awhile. Saibara becomes embarrassed and asks Ellen for his lunch then leaves.

> Ellen's Love Letter

Requirements: None

Enter Ellen's house between 9am to 1pm. You will find Ellen, Elli, and Stutalking.They will begin talking to you and Elli will remember that she needs toreturn a book to the doctor. She searches for the book, but she finds a loveletter instead that is addressed to Ellen. Ellen opens it and says it's a letterfrom her husband. After a brief conversation Ellen says that she'll treasure theletter forever.

> Carter Hears a Voice

Requirements: NoneEnter the Church and you may see Carter by his table excited about something.He will tell you that he heard a voice say that something good would happen tohim. Zack walks in and tells him that something arrived for Carter. Carter thensays that the voice was right.

> The Church's Back Door

Requirements: Good Friends With Carter

Enter the Church on a Wednesday in the Fall. You will see that Carter isn'tthere. You will automatically walk through the door that is usually locked. Youwill see Carter talking about mushrooms. He sees you and tells you that he likesmushrooms. He asks you not to tell anyone about his mushroom collecting spot.From then on you can enter the door anytime.

> Gotz's Family

Requirements: Good Friends With Gotz

Enter Gotz's house on a Monday between 10am to 1pm. You will see Gotz talkingto Harris about how peaceful the mountain is. Harris begins talking aboutGotz's wife and daughter and Gotz becomes silent. He then says that he hopes hecan keep the mountain safe for everyone.

> Doctor's Past

Requirements: Friends with the Doctor

Enter the base of Mother's hill where the lake is on a wednesday between 8amand 10am. You will see Doctor looking out into the lake. He will talk about hisparents for a while and then continue to stare into the lake.

>. Playtime With Stu

Requirements: Friends With Stu

Enter Ellen's house on a Wednesday between 10am to 5pm. You will be told thatStu has too much energy. Stu asks you to play with him. If you agree, youwill exit the house at 6pm without much energy.

> Basil has a Problem

Requirements: Good Friends With Basil

Enter the upstairs of Basil's house. Basil will be standing by his desk. Hetells you about a person who became sick because of a misunderstanding in oneof his books. Then Basil asks you what he should do. Tell Basil that it wasn'this fault and he will become happy.

> Zack's Visits Lillias

Requirements: Later than Year 1

Visit the Poultry Farm between 11am to 1pm. You will see Zack talking to Lillia.She asks him if there's a problem. Zack says no and asks her how she is feeling.Lillia says she is doing better, but that he shouldn't get his hopes up. Zackbecomes sad and leaves.

> Fishing for Kappa

Requirements: None

If you fish on the left side of the lake you might catch Kappa, refer to thesecret Characters section. He will dance for a moment and disappear.

> Animal Death

Requirements: Neglect an animal

If you don't feed your animals they will die. You will wake up and be at thechurch. If one of your chickens dies, Rick will be there. If a cow or sheepdies, Barley will be there. Both will scold you and tell you to take bettercare of your animals.

-Q:I need to see the blue heart event for <insert name> but now she is at green. Can I still see it?

A:Yes, her heart doesn't need to be that color for you to see that heart event it just has to be that color or higher.

-Q: All of the girls got married and I'm still single! WHAT DO I DO?

A: Sucks for you, once a girl is married, she stays married. The only one left for you to marry is the hardest one to marry, the Harvest Goddess.

-Q: Where are those little people....the Harvest Sprites? I can't find them...

A: There is a path to the left of the entrance to the church. If you follow it, you will find their house. There is also a map in this guide showing where they are.

-Q: How do you get the Harvest Sprites to help on your farm?

A: Befriend them, give them gifts. If they like you, they will come.

-Q: There is a dog outside attacking my cows!!! Where did he come from?

A: It is a wild dog, you will find them on your farm sometimes. They will attack your animals if they are not in a fence. Your dog will chase them away, or you can just come back later and he will be gone.

Seems to me like that stuffwould be useless without a file. Anyway, to jump in, go to START on the titlescreen (the only option you have if this is your first game). The first screenis to put in your name. Put whatever you like. The next screen asks for yourbirthday. Put your birthday, already. Next is the Farm Name. Come up withsomething. If you can't, just email me. I'll help you out. After that youget to name your dog. Cool, free dog. I named mine Bark. But I'm sure thatyou can do better than that. Game asks if all of that is cool. Say it is,since you had plenty of time to correct mistakes (I mean, really, why do theyask that question?) You then get this really long cut scene, explaining whyyou're there. After the little movie, you get to play Harvest Moon.===============================================================================6. Basic Farming/Ranching/Mining/Walkthrough of first days-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Okay, great. You can play. What should you do, though? First, let's get thatfarm all cleaned up. From where you start, go up to the TV. I assume that youknow what the TV is. I can't help you if you don't. Okay, I'll help. It'sthe big screen in the middle of the top wall. There, happy? :PPress A on it. Wow, TV shows! You can see the next day's weather report bypressing up, see upcoming events by pressing right, see some more tutorials bypressing down, or, for a while at least, play the Harvest Goddess game bypressing left. Play it. Good luck. You lost, didn't you? The best I can dois five. That was only once. Okay, enough of that.Go to that big treasure chest thing in the bottom right corner. Press A whilefacing it. Pull out the Axe, the Hammer, and the Sickle. Be prepared to spenda couple of days doing this. Go outside, and just below you is your farmingspace. It's where you plant crops.Oh, wait, damn those townsfolk. Thomas and Zack come and show you the basicsagain. Listen to Zach, he tells you to put your crops in the bin. Whoo hoo. You may see your poor little dog roaming around.

At the beginning of every day, you should whistle to your dog (UP+L) and pickhim up with A. EVERY DAY. He'll get to loving you soon enough.Now, make some cash. Go to the tree south of your house, it has a beehive.Press A while facing it, and you'll have honey. Go to the bin, and throw it inwith A. Good source of a tiny bit of easy money.Okay, now, to the clearing of your farm space. See that big brown area with alot of weeds, branches, tree stumps, and rocks? Start clearing it out. Today.First, get rid of the little sticks. To do this, equip your axe through theRucksack screen (go to the screen, select the Axe, and move it to the square ontop if it isn't already there). Start chopping all the little branches away(the brown ones, not the green leaves). Don't even try chopping the stumps up.You need a higher level axe (later on that). Then, equip your Hammer in thesame way you equipped your axe, and get rid of all the little grey rocks. Onceagain, don't even try to get the big rocks. Hammer's too weak. Oh, a littletip. If you go to the Farm Map, you can see each and every little thing in thefield. That helps right now. If you go blue in the face and fall down, don'tpress B again. Either go back into your house (press A on the door, FYI) andsleep (press A facing the side of your bed, or go south and search the area fora blue plant. Find it, and pick it up with A. Then, eat it, by pressing L+B.Make sure you ate it. If not, press L+A, and try again. Once you've eaten afew of the little devils, go back to clearing the place out. Don't stray toofar, you may get lost. After you've gotten all the small rocks, you can startclearing out the weeds. There's two ways to do this. The fastest way is byusing your Sickle. That gets you tired, though. The other way is to press A topick it up, and press A to throw it. This takes a while, though, but itdoesn't get you tired. If you did this in one day, good job. If not, don'tsweat it. Just spend another day.There, doesn't that just look so much better? It doesn't? You don't likethose big rocks and ugly tree stumps? Well, we're going to have to dosomething about it, aren't we? Hey, wait, did I say that this was a completewalkthrough? I did?! Well, okay, then. I won't be so detailed anymore,though. You need to get some money to upgrade those Tools. There's quite afew ways to do this at this point in the game, although it's still tough. Thefastest way is to go mining. What? You don't know how to mine?! Okay, letol' JJ teach you, then. Go south out of your farm. Then, along the left wall,there should be a little diagonal path. Take it. There's the spa, two stumps,and a hole in the wall. You brought that hammer, right? Okay. Go in thehole. What, there's a bunch of rocks? Well, smash them! Oh, you found anore! Great! Here's the trick. If it is a little grey thing with three parts,throw it. If it's Copper or Silver, put it in your Rucksack. After two, thesack is full, but you can still carry some. Take them all to your shippingbin. Okay, do this a whole bunch of times, eating blue herbs or using the spato restore your energy.After a couple of days, you should have some money, but, what are you going todo with it? Hey, that kid's back on your farm again, trying to figure out ifthere's really someone living there! I guess it's time to meet the townsfolk.Go to town (go north). Talk to everyone you see. Also, pick out the girl thatseems cutest to you, and stalk her, er, find out where she is at what time.You'll start giving that girl gifts as soon as you can. I've been trying toget Ann, the bar girl. I've found that she doesn't like herbs much, and sheabsolutely HATES minerals (she dismissed a chunk of silver as big as her!).I've also found that she LOVES boiled eggs. You don't have eggs?! Um, let'stake care of that later. You should have at least 3000 by now, and it shouldNOT be Sunday or Wednesday. Then, you can go to the Supermarket (it's thebuilding with the bags sitting on a table in the middle of the store. I toldyou to go EVERYWHERE for a reason, you know :D).Okay, go the the table with the bags, and talk to it. You heard me. SelectCUCUMBERS, and buy, oh, about three bags. Also, buy a bag of grass. No, nota SACK of grass, a bag. If you had a lot of money, like, if you have 3k left,buy yourself a bigger rucksack. It's on the right side of the store. It will

help a lot, especially during your long days of mining. If you have EVEN MOREmoney left, say, five thousand, you probably waited too long to buy stuff, oryou're cheating. But, if you have it, buy the harvest basket. Don't worry,you don't have it permanently, just press A to drop it where you want it.With the harvest basket, you can put your crops and minerals in the basketinstead of the rucksack. It can hold thirty items. Back to your farm! Go andgrab the Hoe, and the seed bags. If you bought a bigger rucksack, then you canalso grab the watering can.Okay, now, this is a little trick I've figured out. When tilling soil, don'ttill in three by three groups. You'll end up with a little plant in the middlethat doesn't get watered, and it takes longer to water them and pick the crops.You'll want to make a patter something like this:X XX XX XOr like this:XXX

XXXThose are the best ways with the non-upgraded water can. Okay, stand in thecenter of your lines:X XXoXX Xand 'use' your CUCUMBER seeds. You throw them up in the air (?!) and theyall miraculously fall down in the right place. Now, for the bag of grass,make a 3X3 patch of tilled soil, like this:XXXXXXXXXThen stand in the center and throw your seeds into the air. You don't haveto water grass. Now, go grab your Watering Can if you haven't already, andwater all of your cucumber seeds. Now, it's just a waiting game. Let themgrow, and sell the profits. That should be enough to get you started. I'llexplain more detailed stuff in its own section, such as upgrading your tools,fishing, and a more in depth explanation on mining. Remember, the stuff saidabove was just to get you into the game with a good start.===============================================================================7. Town:===============================================================================PROBABLY NEVER COMING!===============================================================================8. Tools/Upgrading the Tools-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Okay, time to explain a little better about the tools, and how to upgradethem.*******************************************************************************Axe:The Axe is a tool that you need, but you won't need to upgrade a lot.It is used for chopping wood, and ONLY chopping wood. The little sticks thatyou see laying around are the only things that you can chop up in thebeginning of the game. After chopping quite a few little sticks up (about tothe point where you have eighty peices of wood) you can upgrade your Axe.Upgrading the Axe to the 'copper' stage lets you cut down stumps by chargingup the tool (hold down B) and hitting the stump six times. This gives yousix peices of wood. At the 'silver' level, you get to take one out in threehits. 'Gold' Axes need only hit the stump two times. With the 'mystril' Axe,the bloody little stumps go down in one chop.///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Fishing Rod:

The only Tool you don't start out with. The Fishing Rod can be acquired atWon's shop. Just keep going there until you get a cutscene withKaren. Soon after, go in the store again, and Zack will give you the FishingRod. On the 'copper' level, it can catch only small fish and trash. It tookme a while to figure out how to catch the little bluggers. When you cast out,wait. An ! will appear over your head; when that happens, press and HOLD theB button. You'll pull in whatever bit if you timed it right (how do bootsbite?) I don't have any more info on the Fishing Rod at this time. ComingSoon.///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Hammer:The Hammer is one of the tools that you'll use a LOT, especially if you followmy guide on how to start off the game. Mining requires ONE tool, the Hammer.It can also use another tool, but it isn't necessary. The Hammer also smashesrocks in the farm to get them out of the way. In the beginning, you can onlysmash small rocks. The 'copper' level smashes larger, round rocks to dust withthree hits. The 'silver' level destroys the round rocks in two hits, and cancrush the rugged large oval rocks in five hits. The 'gold' Hammer canobliterate the round rocks in ONE hit, and the rugged ovals in three. Thecoveted 'mystril' can destroy the ovals in only two hits.///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Hoe:No, I'm calling you names. That's the name of the tool, for those poor,uneducated people out there. It is another tool that is sure to get a lot ofuse. It must be used to till (prepare) the soil for seeds, and it can be usedin the mine. The mine? Yes. In the mine, the Hoe is used as a shovel. Youcan find bags of money (10 G), black herb, or, even better, stairs to the lowerlevels. In the lower levels, you find even better minerals, such as gold andmystril. You get tired fast, though, so I wouldn't suggest this until you havethe second rucksack upgrade, so you can take some blue herb with you (don'tforget the lighter, to, um, light the way!) On a side note, no matter how fardown into the mine you go, if it is raining, you can hear it. Strange. . . .As for mining, upgrading the Hoe does nothing. On the farm, though, the'copper' version gets you two tilled squares a hit (don't forget to charge!).The 'silver' upgrade gets you three squares. With a 'gold' Hoe, you till foursquares at once. The 'mystril' Hoe sends a tremor across the land, hitting sixsquares at once (all in a straight line, of course). Why four to six? I don'tknow. Ask Natsume. Pushit up to 'copper' and you get 3x1. Well, actually, it's exactly like the cutpattern on the Sickle. Just look above at that cut pattern. Upgrade this assoon as you can, really. Right after the Axe. Axe first, though, because youwant to upgrade that house soon enough. What?! I didn't tell you how toupgrade your tools!? I know that! That's in the next section, grasshopper!*******************************************************************************Upgrading the Tools-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Okay, now to teach you how to upgrade tools. You've been a pretty good learnerso far, so this shouldn't take so long. What? You skipped right to thissection? Shame on you! Stay and listen anyway.To upgrade the tool, you need three things: The Tool, money, and the Mineral.You can upgrade the tools to four higher levels: 'Copper,' 'Silver,' 'Gold,''Mystril,' and Mythic You can find these minerals in the mine. Dig deeper withthe Hoe to find the last two. When you have these things, go to the Tool Shophat old man Saibarra runs.Talk to Saibarra's counter (not on a Thursday, he won't serve you on a Thursday,even though he's still there).Select the first option, and then select the tool. Finally, select the mineralto finish the process. He'll tell you how many days it will take, and kick youout. You heard me. He'll kick you out. Mean ol' Saibarra. That many dayslater, go back, and get your newly upgraded Tool. Not on a Thursday, though.That's how you upgrade tools. Now, the HOUSE is a different story, later onthat, though.Here's a breakdown of the amount of money needed to upgrade to each level:

To bless a tool, each one has a different requirement. Since I'm such a niceguy, I'll even tell you those requirements. Be warned, they're quitedifficult:

Fishing Rod: Use the Cursed Rod 255 times. A trick I've heard for this thattakes a while, but gets the job done is to use it inside the Bar, and keepordering water until you're strong enough to use it again. Do note, though,that water only restores about .01 of your Stamina. That ain't a lot.

Hoe: Have Carter 'Bless' the Cursed Hoe 10 times.You can have him bless things during confessional.

Ax: Use the Cursed Ax 255 times. All I can say is to use the same trick asfor the Rod.

Hammer: Equip the Cursed Hammer for ten days straight. The only advice that Ican give is to have the Sprites look after your livestock, and do this duringWinter.

Watering Can: Have Carter 'Bless' the Cursed Watering Can 10 times.

Sickle: Equip the Cursed Sickle for 10 days straight. See the Hammer forthe strategy.

To have Carter bless something, it must be during confessional (Thursdayevenings, I think), and it costs 1,000 G each blessing. You can only have himbless one thing a day.Cursed and Blessed tools have the same effects, except for the fact that CursedTools sap your Stamina faster than a Downer. Here are the effects:

Fishing Rod: You can now catch the 'King' fish, as well as Treasure andFish Fossils.

The Mythic Tools need an ore called Mythic Stone for Saibarra to upgrade them.The Mythic Stones only appear after you've had ALL TOOLS BLESSED. You heard meright. All of them. They then appear in the Spring Mine, on floor 60.After you take them to Saibarra, he'll use them to make your Tool an MythicTool, for the nomimal charge of 50,000 G. He'll take about a week, too. Also,the Mythic Stones (which look like burnt wood) sell for 20,000 G A PIECE. Yep,so the cost at Saibarra's shouldn't be too bad after all. Here's a breakdownof the Mythic Tools:

Fishing Pole: Increases chances of catching Fossil or Pirate Treasure.

Now,with that out of the way, we can get into more complicated mining.First, I'd like to point out that there are two mines. There's the normal one,and the one in the middle of the lake. To get to that one, wait until winter.In either mine, there is more than one level. To reach these lower levels, youneed the Hoe. Take that in, and start using it like a shovel to dig. You'llfind one of four things:1. Nothing2. Black Herb (useful for releiving the fatigue and stamina. Hey, that's. . .no, I won't say it :D)3. 10 G (instant profit)4. StairsIf you find the Herb, eat it right away. Even if it's the first thing youfind. It doesn't recover much. The stairs, go down them. As you go deeperinto the mine, you'll find better minerals. After I put this guide on the net a lot of people emailed me saying that theyjust couldn't get it, and that they couldn't understand how to use these codes.Well, first of all, you need a codebreaker. A codebreaker can be bought atplaces like Toys R' Us, Gamestop, Ebay Games, Games For Less, and most storesthat carry electronics and/or electronic gaming products. Once you have acodebreaker all you have to do is plug in the codes listed in here and thenstart your game. For different stages you will want different codes, andsometimes you may want to turn off/on your codebreaker at different points inthe game when using these codes. More on this in the next chapter.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Different Stages And How They Work-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town there are two main types of codes:Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage one codes are codes that are used BEFORE you loadyour game data (aka, while your in the main menu). Many people use these codesbecause you can turn/leave your codebreaker on right when you turn on the game.Stage 2 codes accur AFTER you load your game (aka, when your in the game). Theway that you can tell that you are in a possition to use stage 2 codes is whenyou can move around. To use stage 2 codes players should turn off theircodebreakers, load their game files and then, when they can move around in thegame, they should turn on their codebreakers. This will allow you to use thecodes correctly.

The difference in the stages is simple, a stage 2 code is 2834 + the stage 1code (added hesadecimaly). For those of you who would like to calculate yourown stage 2 codes from stage 1 codes you can follow the following instructions:

1: Open the windows calculator.2: Click on view and then click Scientific.3: Click the hexadecimal button.4: Plug in the value of the stage one code.5: Now, there are two ways to do this. You can either:-A: Click add and type in 2834or-B: Click the Decimal button, then click add, then plug in 10292. Then clickhexadecimal.

The result will be the stage 2 code!

Q. How do I make a fence?A. For a wood fence, just go the the little building next to your horse stable and press A to grab a log (you have to cut some wood first). After that, just place it the way you want it in your field. For a stone fence, grab the small round rocks around the farm and use them like the wood. After a few days, the wood will rot, but will not lose its effectiveness.
