Harvest 2011

DARN GOOD YIELDS. Joe Kinch’s John Deere combine powers its way through the dust as it finishes cutting a portion of a Kinch Farms field on Sutton road next door to the Fletcher Elevator on Saturday. Kinch said the field’s yield was darn good.

DOWNLOADING. Cameron Stevenson opens the hopper on a semi-truck that was unloading wheat at Union Elevator in Lind.

GRAIN SHOWER. Erik Hille unloads grain from a bankout wagon into a waiting semi-truck while working harvest for Bob Walli along State Route 261 south of Ralston on Saturday.

FAST MOVING. Grain races past the grate and into the pit as it is unloaded at Union Elevator in Lind. While most of the grain rushes by the bars of the grate, some rests on the bars waiting for an employee to sweep it into the pit.

READY FOR ANOTHER LOAD. Marc Hickey closes up the openings on a truck that just finished unloading wheat at the Fletcher Elevator. The el-evator was one of the busiest in the region as har-vest finally arrived.

STANDING TALL. Two stalks of Moro stand alone at the edge of a field awaiting harvest.

GRAIN TRAIN WAITING. Train cars waiting to haul grain were staged at the Schrag Elevator on Saturday.

AFTER THE CUTTING. The hollow stalks of the wheat are all that remains after a combine has passed by.

FILLING THE TRUCK. Matt Kulm brought his International combine to a rest in order to fill up a bankout wagon and make room for more grain as he cut a field alongside his father, Fred, who was also running an International combine.
