Harry Melvin Anderson was born 6 May 1914 at Murray, Salt Lake Co., Utah and was sixth of eight
children of Alfred John Anders and Anna Erickson. His parents taught him hard work, and thriftiness.
Harry was born in the living room of his
parents’ home at 4612 So. 2nd
West in
Murray Utah.
The house had two living room (one with
coal/wood burning heating stove), a large
kitchen (with coal/wood burning) cooking
stove, water was supplied by a flowing well
at the side of the house. And two bedrooms
(one for his parents and one for the
children.

In back of the house there was a food storage cellar, barn, chicken coup and pen for pigs. Later Harry’s
father had two large chicken coups built as a small family business that all the children participated in
operating.
The family maintain a large garden, milk cow and were basically self sufficient for food supplies.
His father, Alfred John Anderson, worked at Murray Smelter. He never owned a car and walked to and
from work every day. His mother, Anna Erickson Anderson, washed clothes, cook three meals a day,
maintained a spotlessly clean home, milked to cow and helped tend the garden.
Harry would have attended Bonnyview Elementary School, Arlington High School (through 8th
Grade).
And a year or so at the University of Utah. Harry, like everyone of this time, began work in his teens. One
of his early careers was working for Clover Dairy.

As they became adults, the kids were still frequently found at the Family home particularly Sundays
Gathering during Christmas, Thanksgiving and other Holidays was always a part of the family
Even while working other jobs, Harry continued to help his father with work around the Family Home
On June 19, 1937 Harry M. Anderson married Linnea Hilga Bergstrom. They
had one Son. They were later divorced.

On November 7, 1949 Harry M. Anderson married
“Betty” Ella Marie Josephine Simmonds.
“Betty” Ella Marie passed away 21 November 1997 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
