As part of his tour of Harrow, the mayor visits one
of our very own Carers, Bernard Augar, 94 who is
the main carer for his wife, Patricia Augar. Bernard
was indeed honoured to be able to host the Mayor
at his Edgware residence and without hesitation
shared this moment captured in the picture below/
above with us.
Present at the time was Angela, one of our proud
serving Care Support Workers who was on duty at
the time of the mayor’s unannounced visit.
Thank you Mike, enjoy your retirement!
Message from the staff team
Mike has been working for Harrow Carers for over 15 years and has worked extremely hard to build and improve services for carers within Harrow. He has taken Harrow Carers from
humble beginnings to a point where we are leaders in providing innovative, supportive services for carers and their loved ones.
He has provided great vision and leadership and has been very supportive of the staff teams desire to continually improve and find new ways of providing services for carers.
The staff team wish Mike all the very best with his retirement and hope that he will now have time to do all of the things that he has planned for.
Take care Mike and please do pop in and see us from time to time.

Carers Trust celebrates success of the Working for Carers project
Staff from Carers Trust and its London-based Network Partners gathered in central London to celebrate the success WFC that’s helping unpaid carers move back into employment.
They were joined by carers from across London who have benefited from the project.
Since October 2016 146 unpaid carers or former carers have found employment thanks to Working for Carers, an innovative partnership between Carers Trust and its London-based Network Partners.
A further 84 have moved into education or training while 74 are actively searching for work. Many more of the 739 carers or former carers who have registered with the project have taken a step forward by developing their CV and building confidence through attending project workshops.
Having demonstrated its success in engaging carers and helping them move back into work, Working for Carers will now move into a second phase of growth. The project aims to register and support increasing numbers of carers across London. And it will also implement learning from the first phase of the project, with a stronger focus on both employer engagement and tighter recruitment criteria for carers.
Speaking at the Working for Carers showcase event.
Malcolm Moore, one of the carers who has been helped back into employment, said:
“My Working for Carers Employment Personal Adviser, Nem, has supported
me since 2018. He helps people like myself in difficult and challenging
personal circumstances begin the re-turn to employment with one-to-one
And reflecting on the success of Working for Carers, Director of England at Carers Trust, Kathryn Hill, said
“Three in five of us will become a carer for a family member at some point in our lives. And many such carers will need to give up their job to be able to provide that care. So it’s vital that there is support for carers at that crucial stage. That’s what Working for Carers is able to do, building carers’ confidence and skills so they are ready to take that next step of applying for work when the moment is right.

As from October 2019 our very competitive Homecare rates increased to as follows; Monday to Friday Daytime: £18.00an hour Evening rates during the week from 6pm £21.00 an hour. Weekend rates starting from 6pm Friday evening to 7am Monday morning £21.00 an hour.
In order to keep up with pay rates as they increase in the future, we have introduced a 2% annual
increase which will allow us to meet the demands of providing you with a continued high quality service
into the future.
The new prices will also be more competitive than the UKHCA’s (United Kingdom Home Care Associa-
tion) minimum sustainable price for local authority care provision which is £18.93 per hour. These rates
are calculated to cover the costs of care including; care workers' pay, travel time, travel costs, training and
the providers' requirement to operate a high-quality, sustainable service.

Advertise Here At Harrow Carers we’re always trying our best to make sure we’re doing as much as we can for the community of Harrow and it’s carers. These bulletins go out to over 2,000 people every three months and over half of those being print copies. Since we print our copies and send them out the bulletins can cost a lot to make which is why we’ve made the decision to start offering space to local organisations who want to advertise on our bulletins. We know that adverts could become tedious and potentially annoying which is why we’re aiming to promote the services that we think will really benefit our carers and the community so we can continue to be informative and useful to you, the carers.
If you would like to advertise in the next bulletin. Please Call 02088685224 to request a media pack with information.
