HAROLD NAPPER Newsletter June 23, 2010 Dear Parents and Families, Another school year is coming to an end. We had so much fun and excitement “Passing on the Torch of Knowledge”. The entire Harold Napper School community of teachers, students, parents and support staff ALL contributed in ensuring that the HN flame continued to shine down brightly on everyone. This year at HN, there were so many “high lights from the torch” to look back on. From our colorful Opening Day and our Welcome Back Corn Roast in September, to our Olympic athletes in March, to our Jump Rope for Heart and Fun Day in June, all 10 months of the school year were filled with incredible moments. These special moments allowed us to hold on to the torch and let it lead us onto new pathways of learning. There were days to wear pyjamas, days to wear hats, and days to wear something red. There were times set aside to read, times set aside to watch movies with your family on a Friday night, and times to have a healthy smoothie at recess. Other days at lunchtime were spent knitting, scrap booking, doing arts & crafts and aerobics. We met authors, a war veteran and of course Santa Claus as well. The Olympic athletes came, spoke and inspired us. The Grey Cup arrived for our viewing. The Inukshuk village appeared before our very eyes. We had a Benefit Concert at night as well as an Evening of Song and Dance. We advanced past the ABC’s into the RRR’s and we were introduced to Miss Respect, Mr. Responsibility and Miss Ready to Work. We began to WALK-WALK-WALK all through the hallways of HN. We began Smash Tennis at SaniSport and continued with the Hokey Pokey in our gym. We were always ready to enjoy the performances of the Junior and Senior Rock Choir, our school band l’harmonie and discover music from East India and the home grown sounds from Dent-de-lion. What More Could the Torch of Knowledge Pass on to Us? Congratulations and Bravo to our team of championship students who: -signed the Gold Book -received 3R certificates -participated in SSIAA -participated in Jump Rope for Heart -won a Soni award -completed their elementary studies -took part in the kindergarten celebration -completed all their end of year evaluations
