Statistics of Solar Energy in India

Current status.

• The amount of solar energy produced in India in 2007 was less

than 1% of the total energy demand. The grid-connected solar

power as of December 2010 was merely 10 MW.

• Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, the target was to

achieve 20,000 Mw of solar power by 2022.

• In the Budget, Rs 500 crore was allocated to develop solar

ultra mega power projects.

• Renewable energy comprising solar, wind, biomass and small

hydro currently accounts for 12% of the country's installed

generation capacity.

News on Renewable Energy

• The Narendra Modi government has made the first concrete move towards expanding India's solar generation capacity.

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh would soon tie up with the Centre to execute ultra mega solar power projects with more than 500-Mw capacity each.

• To put at least 5,000-7,000-Mw solar power generation under operation as soon as possible, Power Minister Piyush Goyalhas asked officials to ensure agreements are signed with interested states by the end of the month, a government official said.

• Known to be a clean energy enthusiast, Prime Minister Modi is keen on development of renewable power. The Prime Minister's Office has decided to meet key officials of the energy and infrastructure departments every month, with special focus on developing clean energy.

• Telangana government has decided to distribute Solar Pump

NEDCAP ACTIVITIES

• Solar Energy

• Andhra Pradesh is one of the few states blessed with more number of sunny days. The estimated potential is 5-7KWH/Sq.Mtr. per day which remains un-tapped for various applications like heating, lighting, power generation etc., Under Solar Energy programmes the following are being implemented

• Solar Thermal Systems– Solar Water Heating Systems

– Solar Cookers

– Solar Dryers

• Solar Photovoltaic Systems– SPV Lighting Systems viz. portable lanterns, home-lighting and street lighting systems

– SPV pump-sets

– Mini Power Plants for village Electrification

– SPV Grid interactive Power Plants

Solar Street Light The Solar Array or PV unit is mounted on a panel and converts the sun’s energy into electricity. The PV Panel is made up of individual silicon cells. When sunlight strikes the cells it causes the electrons to move, creating a DC current flowing within the each cell. Solar panels are durable and able to deliver power in extreme weather conditions. All SOL’s arrays include a 20 year warranty. Advantages & Benefits :Easy to install No maintenance except for the battery No monthly electric bills Self-contained solution - Light on/off controlled by automatic daylight sensing No running cost LED lights feature white light without flickering and instant on. Safe 12/24 volt circuit, no risk of electric shockBattery backup for cloudy or rainy days

Solar Water Pump

The solar pumping system mainly consists of PV modules, inverters and pumps. (2) Principle of Operation: The PV modules supply electricity to inverter. The inverter converts DC into AC to drive pump according to the intensity of sunshine. (3) Advantage Auto-operation, labor free Suitable to all kinds of pumps, including three-phase AC pumps, single-phase AC pumps and DC pumps Wide range of input voltage, suitable to different PV modules Modular design, easy to maintain International advanced components, safe and reliable Solar and mains power hybrid, 24 hour operation SMS remote control Customized solutions
