EUBP PAC Report Христос Воскрес! The EUBP PAC wishes everyone a Happy Easter!

Dyakuju to all of the parents and grandparents who helped our EUBP students get ready for and celebrate

Easter! Many helping hands were needed to make paskas (Easter bread), Pysanky (decorated Easter eggs) and set-up/clean-up the hall for the Easter blessing. We are so blessed to have so many beautiful volunteers!

The end of April will continue to be busy for our EUBP students. Our Ukrainian Choir will be singing during the LSSD’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations on April 22nd and our grade 4’s will showcase their Ukrainian dance skills. Grade 6 students will attend Ukrainian Language camp from April 25th-27th at the University of Manitoba. This EUBP sponsored language camp allows students to mingle with other EUBP grade 6 students while they learn about Ukrainian culture and heritage; explore different science disciplines and participate in activi-ties such as wall climbing and swimming.

Mrs. Neil’s Two Sense

The Student Council at Happy Thought School will be starting a Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) club, on April 24th during lunch hour. The club will meet on Day 1’s until mid-June. When we meet, the stu-dents will brainstorm ideas of RAK’s they can do for others in the school; students, teachers, EA’s, support staff, or even members of the community.

I am excited to see all the wonderful ideas they will come up and to see them doing good deeds for others. I am also looking to see the continued rip-ple effect that some Happy Thought students

have already started…how far will it go? If you have seen the effects of their RAK’s I would love to hear from you! If you get the chance to share a Random Act of Kindness that your child has start-ed and how far it has spread, please send me an email at: [email protected], so I can track HTS’s ripple and share these stories in our community.

Bonnie Neil,

Guidance Counsellor

Kindergarten Orientation Please save the dates for Kindergarten Orientation - Tuesday, May 16 at 6:30 and - Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

Kindergarten Registration for 2017-2018 We are now accepting kindergarten registrations for both our English and English-Ukrainian Bilingual programs for children born in 2012. The English-Ukrainian program is available to all children in the Lord Selkirk School Division. We ask that parents register as soon as possible because we provide readiness packages for children prior to their enter-ing kindergarten. This material will help your child be better prepared for school.

For additional information, please contact the school at 482-4521.

Thank you! Thanks to John Perry who donated two sheepskin vests from Ukraine to our EUBP program.

Email News If you have sent us a recent email and not received a reply, please try again. Please bear with us as our school division has changed over to a new email server. All email addresses are still the same but we are no longer on First Class, and have switched to Outlook 365. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Here is more timely information from our HTS/ESMS Food and Nutrition committee who meets every sec-

ond month at 9:30 in the ESMS office area. Our next meeting will be in April 26, 2017. Please join us!

Marathon ClubMarathon ClubMarathon ClubMarathon Club It’s training time again! We are, once again, excited to start Marathon Club. The idea behind the program is that students run a mile each training session for 26 sessions equaling the distance of the actual Manitoba Marathon. All Grades 2-4 students were invited to join Marathon Club. Marathon Club runs during the first break of every school day. Students are running a planned route near the school’s fitness trail.

Students who complete Marathon Club and have shown a commitment to their training are encouraged to attend the marathon and participate in the Super Run (2.6 miles) on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, 2017. The Manitoba Mara-thon is a wonderful experience for the kids and a great Father’s Day family outing.

Cheer Club Congratulations to the grade 2 Cheer Club who presented their cheers at our assembly to kick off spirit week. We met a few times a week and the students prepared their own cheer routines. The students who participated in cheer club were:

Mady S., Daniella P., McKenna H., Leila R., Paisley C., Grace F., Emily B., Jenna G., Mindy S., Zoe L., Emma D., Dannika S., Ainsley S., Callie G., Ella S., Sophie L., Layla L., Paige M., Melissa H., .

Great teamwork girls!!

Skate Donations Accepted We would gladly accept any donations of skates, especially sizes 3-5!
