REMINDER: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CBA FOOD DRIVE Central Baptist Association will have a WORK DAY on Tuesday, November 14th at Congo

Road Baptist Church to put the food sacks together from their October Food Drive. Volun-

teers will be needed to help with this task. Volunteers will also be needed on Monday, Nov. 13

to help move food out of the CBA trailer and into the church. Both days volunteers will need

to meet at Congo Road Baptist Church, 7193 Congo Road in Benton at 9:00 a.m. A few strong

AWANA Christmas Store Needs Your Help

Our AWANA students have been working hard to earn AWANA “bucks”. At their December

store, they use those bucks to purchase Christmas gifts for family and friends. We would like

them to be able to wrap their gifts after they purchase them. If you have extra GIFT BAGS

you would like to donate, we would appreciate your help. Our December store is sched-

uled for Wednesday Dec. 13. Please put your Christmas gift bags in the AWANA box in the fel-

lowship hallway before December 13. Thank you.

Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child

It’s time to start shopping and filling your Operation Christmas Child shoe

boxes. Shoe Box Dedication is Sunday, November 19. You may bring

your filled shoe boxes any time before that date and leave them on the ta-

ble in the fellowship hallway. Please note: NO toothpaste or candy may be included in our box-

es due to new customs regulations. Let’s work really hard this year to meet or surpass our goal

of 400 filled shoe boxes. Remember that every filled shoe box offers an opportunity to share the Good News

of the Savior with a hurting child.

vironment. Call leader Whanda Swihart at 922-2832 for information. “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20

This month we will concentrate on some older books that offer effective knowledge and training that is needed for us to live fulfilling and powerful lives. As we read God’s Word we can recognize and focus on what is important in life. It is important to God that we have more love, joy and peace in our lives—more patience, kindness, and goodness—more faithfulness, humility and self-control. Developing these attributes empowers us to become all that God wants us to be. Joyce Meyer tells us in her book, Secrets to Exceptional Living, how to grow spiritually and to impact those around us as we develop the qualities of nature—qualities that the Bible calls the fruit of the Spirit. Dr. Bill Bright gives us an inspiring, practical book on how you can share God’s love with confidence—with family, friends, neighbors and even strangers in his book, The Joy of Sharing Jesus. If you be-lieve in Jesus Christ, you also have a wonderful story to tell—and here is the help you may want or need for sharing His message clearly and effectively. Dr. Bill Bright was an encourager and he encour-aged all those he came in contact with to never relent or grow weary in sharing the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. “Your life emerges from the greatest mind and the kindest heart in the history of the universe: the mind and heart of God.” Max Lucado tells us in God’s Story Your Story: when His becomes yours, that to be inspired to see how your day-to-day story intersects with God’s grand, over-arching epic of everlasting redemption. Your journey of faith will come alive as you explore the divine narrative through New Testament and contemporary characters, and discover how the Bible reveals God’s plans for you today. One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskam p, beckons you to leave the parched ground of pride, fear, and white-knuckle control and abandon yourself to the God who overflows your cup. This is a beautiful, practical guide to living a life of joy and to wake up to God’s everyday blessings. As Voscamp discovered, in giving thanks for the life she already had, she found the life she had always wanted. For those who are interested in hosting a small group Bible study or just family Bible study you may be interested in Disciples are Made Not Born, by Walter Henrichsen. Just what is a 20th-century disciple and how do you go about becoming one? Henrichsen not only describes a modern disciple but ex-plains how to make disciples of others. It’s a process that begins with sharing the Good News of the Gospel and doesn’t end until you’ve shared your life so completely with another person that he is fully committed to similar spiritual service. This is not a collection of dry, doctrinal dust, but practical and provocative training for those who want to walk where Christ walked. This book invites you to take His yoke upon you and learn of Him. These are just a few of the outstanding books we have available in the BBC Library. We invite you to “Come By and Check Us Out”!

TED & CYNDY TAYLOR

Ted & Cyndy are both Texans; both graduated Texas Tech with BSE’s.

They married soon after college and moved to Ted’s hometown of Decatur.

Cyndy began a 25-year career teaching in the Decatur ISD, and taught 7th &

8th grade Texas and American history in several public schools in TX. Ted

began his career in insurance at Farm Bureau and soon started his own agen-

cy in Decatur. He later joined Nationwide in their Agribusiness Division as

District Sales Manager with various territories from New England to CA.

Their daughter, Alison and husband Dennis, relocated to Germany last April, and Ted and Cyndy are

anticipating a trip to Germany around Christmas to visit their 4 year old granddaughter, Bently. Hav-

ing moved here from Conroe, TX 10 years ago, they built a home on Lake Balboa, but now live on

Isabella golf course.

Cyndy plays tennis and is on a team with Alice Finton. She is a member of a book club and has

attended many Bible studies. One of her most important duties is caring for her mom, who is a resi-

dent at Mt. Carmel. Now for the fun!! Ted is a member of Mountain Valley Sportsman Associa-

tion—as are several of our members. He is an active member of SASS—Single Action Shooters Soci-

ety and participates in Cowboy Action Shooting. At the gun range there are authentic old west fa-

cades, and shooters wear period correct, late 1800’s clothing. The guns are also period correct repli-

cas. Get to know this fun, friendly couple, you will truly enjoy them!

CHARLES & TAWANA LEWIS Charles and Tawana grew up in the Ft. Worth, TX area. Charles graduated

HS at 17, and joined the U.S. Navy, serving 4 years. He began working for

Bell Helicopter as a painter’s helper and ended a 37½ year career as a

Quality Control Inspector. (How’s that for movin’ on up?)

Tawana graduated HS and began working a couple jobs and then began

a 31-year career with First National Bank, which is now Bank of America.

She began in data processing, and with many promotions, ended her tenure

in the Institutional Trust Dept., handling pension plans for both individuals and institutions.

Although they were from the same area, Charles & Tawana did not meet until 1986; they were

married in 1989. In 2003 they bought a 5th wheel and began their nomadic adventure up the West

coast, heading for British Columbia. Along the way they spent time in the Osprey Point RV Resort,

Lakeside, Oregon. Although they continued on to BC, they decided to settle in the Lakeside area.

They lived there for 13 years enjoying their ocean-going water craft and being on a perpetual vacation.

They moved to the Village just this year.

Charles likes to fish and Tawana likes to sing! She joined the choir the day they became members.

Between them, they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren who all live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Say hello to Charles & Tawana; you will enjoy getting to know them.
