Page 1 of 6 Hi everyone, Happy New Year to you all. This is a very busy time for Allen and I as we are settling in at the Village. Very new to us all as we have been in the Strathpine house for 53 years. It is all new and exciting. Lots of people and plenty of things to keep us busy. In the midst of it all there has been little time to tackle any decoupage, however, this week I have started work on a project I have been anxious to do for our younger son's 50th Birthday. He is interested in all things Japanese and so I am working on a lamp with Japanese figures. Coming along very nicely and I am pleased with it so far. I am looking forward to catching up with you all at the meeting. There are many things we have to discuss regarding the future of our guild. I sincerely hope we can come to some good results as I personally would hate to give up the craft I have come to love. Best wishes to all. Regards, Heather.

Hi everyone, Happy New Year to you all.

Regards,

Heather.

Happy New Year Greetings,

I trust you are looking forward to a productive year of Decoupage and associated Paper Crafts.

Time is a precious commodity for all of us, as well as other craft lovers with whom we hope to share our decoupage and Paper craft skills. Utilizing these skills and materials may be more appealing to some.

2020 is off to a good start in February with Ineke offering to introduce us to the Paper craft of Teabag Folding.

A notice inviting others to join the workshop has been requested for inclusion in the local papers.

See below the information on what will be provided and what to bring.

Jenny Aiken, Decoupage Guild Australia, has been in touch in regard to a suggested trip to Melbourne in 2020.

You may remember that Backgrounds was a subject chosen as of interest if this event should eventuate.

Their Guild has slotted this workshop into their April meeting, and is looking forward to welcoming us then or at some other suitable date.

Are you able to come to Crows Nest on March 13-15 for the Decoupage Live-in-Workshop?

If so you will need to phone the Crows Nest Caravan Park 4698 1269 and confirm your cabin booking.

Several cabins have been set aside for the Guild so mention that when phoning. You may wish to self-cater or alternatively use the services of the Park restaurant.

In previous years we have eaten as a group on the Saturday evening.

The 2020 Traditional Trade Fair at Old Petrie Town is scheduled for March 22, and the same site as last year is available to the Guild if there is sufficient interest to participate.

This may be a little close on top of Crows Nest weekend to be viable, but some members may wish to take advantage of the opportunity for sale of craft items.

Please keep in mind your entries for the EKKA. Time to start is now – maybe Crows Nest will help us to get the creative juices flowing.

Trust you can make it to Chermside on February 16

Fruit & Vegetable Tips

How to spot fresh produce • Citrus fruits should feel heavy for their size as this

is a sign they are full of juice. Any that seem light

are probably old and dehydrated.

• Shake a bunch of grapes before purchasing them.

If any fall off, they are not fresh.

• Hold a melon firmly in both hands and lightly

press the area around the tip – the opposite end to

the stem. If it gives slightly the melon is ripe.
