JANUARY 2016 From the Pastor's Desk Sadly there are many for whom life has obviously grown stale. They have suffered heavy and tragic losses. Among these, surely one of the most pathetic is the loss of New Year’s Day. Of course January 1 came to them every twelve months, even as it has to others. But it has for these no thrill of expectancy. It never means a resurrection of hope. It never brings a revival of courageous effort to attain the heights. No longer do they allow themselves to be betrayed by it into making rash resolutions for the achieving of the impossible. In fact this day has ceased altogether to be for them the beginning of a new year. It is only the beginning of another year of boredom and yawns, of disgust and despair, of wearily trudging through a monotonous waste of desert sand. The trouble with these people is that they have allowed themselves to become cynical. They follow what has become a custom. They do not select an attitude that is warm with a sense of the love and fatherhood of God. They do not see life as radiant with the expectation of something better. Their outlook is about as sunny as a sob. It is about as hopeful as a wail of despair. Listen to the bitterness of its “vanity of vanities; all is vanity.” But finding God should have changed all of that. They should come to realize a new conclusion. “Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is the whole duty of us.” The “fear” is “respect”, and the “duty” is “service”. And the new force is “love”. Love puts beauty on the faces of its objects and makes the heart throb in the presence of the ones we love. "Rejoice, O young people, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you along the days of your youth and walk in the ways of your innermost being; in what your eyes see ahead, and know that for all these things God will bring you into your reward.” Better said: “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth.” Remember God while you have the strength to serve Him and the wisdom not to desert Him for someone or something which is indeed hopeless! Dear Church Family:

2015 has been a wonderful year with many new and exicting events in my life and the life of my family!

As you know, Debra and I were married on May 30th and it has been a whirlwind of joy and challenges as we put our lives and the lives of our families together. We enjoyed our honeymoon to New York City and our many trips to Lubbock to see our little Red Raiders (David and Tyler). Tyler will graduate in May 2016 and David will graduate in another year or so.

Sarah and Sutton are doing great in Los Angeles. Sarah is now the director of a non-profit called The Wright Foundation for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She has always had a heart for underpriviledged children and this job is proving to be the perfect match for this passion in her life. Sutton is continually working on a hundred projects at once and will be traveling to India again to shoot promotional video for various ministries there. Sadly to report there are no grandchildren yet. : - (

As we look forward to 2016, I'd like to leave you with this thought: "Prayer equips human weakness with divine strength, turns human folly into heavenly wisdom, and gives the peace of God to troubled souls. We do not know what prayer cannot do." - Charles Spurgeon

May we continually lift each other up in prayer and as we look forward to what God is going to do in the days ahead here at Mayfield through our ministry.

May God bless you and your family in the New Year,Bro. Lee

Dear Church Family, We as a staff want to thank you for your ministry of love and grace through the 2015 holiday season. You have ministered to many through Lottie's Place, Back the Blue and many other events to serve our community. We are priviledged to serve with people who care for our community and the people that make it up. You open the doors of our church to groups such as the monthly meetings of Arlington S.M.A.R.T. Coalition and Maybrook Estates as well as our Girl and Boy Scout troops that meet weekly. Through each of these groups you show the love and grace of Christ as we make available to them the buildings that God has provided. Lastly we want to thank you for your gifts and encouragement that you show us throughout the year and especially during the Christmas season. Each one is a blessing to us and our families. As the new year begins we will have a new face in the office. Our new church secretary is Kelly Wencl and she comes to us from the Arlington Independent School District where she has worked for over 12+ years. She will be a great addition to our staff as she assists Bobby, Lee, Doug and Clint in the ministry here at MRBC. Please continue to pray for God's direction and vision for Mayfield Road. The future is full of opportunities for us to minister to many in the name of Jesus. We wish you all a blessed New Year! Thank you, The Staff of Mayfield Road
