You have not passed this way before…Joshua 3:4

Israel is about to enter the Promised Land!

`1. Israel had been stuck in the Wilderness for 40 years.

2. All the men, 20 years old and older Had died in the Wilderness, except Joshua and Caleb. 3. Some of the men are now 40 years older. 4. They are told to get ready to move in.

Joshua 3:1-8 1 And Joshua rose early in the morning; and

they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.

2 And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host;

3 And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.

4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.

5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you.

6 And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.

7 And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.

8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.

1. Sanctify yourself. Set yourself apart for His Work. Joshua 3:1-8

1. Sanctify yourself each day…Pursue . ‘Set apart’…What is God’s we’ll give it to Him…. a)Joshua 3:5 And Joshua said unto the

people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you.

b) I John 1:7-9

2.Trust God’s promisesJoshua 3:9-13 9 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come

hither, and hear the words of the Lord your God. 10 And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living

God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan.

12 Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.

13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.

The Israelites must Trust in God

They are going through the Jordan River.

They are being led out of the wilderness to the promised land.

They must trust God as He leads them!

We must trust God in 2015…

1. Our daily bread. Matt. 6:11 Be thankful for work…to provide for

yourself and those dependent upon you. Scripture: Eph. 4:28 ; 2 Thess. 3:10 2. 24/7. Being with us. Mtt. 18:20. 3. To help us in our problems. Prov.

3:5-6; Heb. 13:5-6

3. Work your faith. Joshua 3:14-17

14 And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;

15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)

16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.

17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.

They ‘worked their faith” We must be people who work our faith! a) James 2:14-18 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath

faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye

warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:

shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

What America needs: Christians who have faith in God..and work their faith

Demonstrate your faith in God. Matt. 3:8 “Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance. Let people see you mean what you profess . Mtt. 5:16 Be an example of a person who has truly Converted to Jesus Christ…I Pet. 2:21 “for Even hereunto were ye called: because Christ suffered

for us, leaving us an example,that ye should follow his steps “

Mtt. 22:36-40 Love him with all your heart,, with all your soul, with all your

Mind...

Certain Things about 2015

1. You Have not passed this way before. Joshua 3: 4

a) Untrodden ways b) Show me the Way, Lord! c) We’ve never been this way before We need God’s Help!

Wait on the Lord… 2. Wait on the Lord. a)Psalms 27: 14 Wait on the Lord: be of

good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

b. Psalms 37:9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

c. Psalms 37:34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

Isaiah 40:31 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall

renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint

a)Renew their strength b)Fly as eagles c)Run and not be weary d)Walk, and not faint!.

Things We Must Do! 1. Help the poor. Gal. 6:10 Share with

them. Give a coat, a dress, a suit, shirts, shoes, Etc. ..give clothing…give food…give help to

others. 2. Read your bible. Read Acts. Read Job. Study. 2 Tim. 2:15 John 5:39; Read it every word this year.

Don’t put it down without reading and meditating on God’s word.

3. Pray. Get on your knees, or bow your heart before God in prayer.

Don’t just say words. I Thess. 5:17; Acts 2:42; Dan. 6:10 Really pray. Just don’t say words..but fill your prayers with feeling, with heart felt thoughts….Don’t forget to pray!!

In 2015… 4. Talk to others about their souls.

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, told Simon Peter, (John 1:41) We have found the

Messiah.… Andrew brought Peter to Jesus. John

1:42 ..”And when Jesus beheld him him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A Stone. “

… Be excited about Jesus. Share what you know

about Him with others… (Matt. 28:18-20)

In 2015: #5. Assemble to Worship God at the appointed time. a) Acts 20:7 b) Let’s prepare for the Lord’s day… Study your lessons, (2 Tim. 2:15) Make preparations for The Lord’s Day…Get things ready... John 4:23-14. Talk favorably about going to worship our God.. Psalms 122:1 Psalms 118:24

Make plans to leave so you can get here on time… Quit being late. Rejoice…The Lord’s Day …think about it…it is the day that

God’s people gather to worship and serve Him.

In 2015, 6. Quit Murmuring..

Philippians 2:14 - Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

1 Corinthians 10:10 - Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer

Acts 6:1-3- And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

In 2015…

7. Visit and help the sick. Matt. 25:31-46 Do what you can for others!

Don’t say what can Christians do for me,

but rather, what can I do for others!! What can I do…. Be concerned about others

In 2015,

8. Quit making excuses for yourself. Mtt. 25:31-46 When you failed to do what you should

have, admit it! Admit when you have sinned. I John 1:9; 2 Sam. 12:13 “I have sinned against The Lord! ”... And get busy doing what you can!

9. Be a worker for the Lord not a shirker. Jas. 1:22 ; Mtt. 7:21-23; Rev. 14:13

10. “Be content. I Tim. 6:6 Godliness with Contentment is great gain

“Be happy! Be Joyful! Phil. 4:4 ………………. Count your many blessings, name them One by one… James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is

from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We didn’t do so well last year, did we!

We lost some folks…our attendance is down, and contribution is not what it should be.

a. We complain about all of that…but What about giving thanks to God for the ones

we have, the blessings the Lord has given to us.

b. Some of us failed to measure up to what we know God expects of us.

In 2015, we need to remember

1. Sanctify yourself today and each day for doing God’s work, just like Israel

Was told: Sanctify yourself today….John 17:17

2. Trust God. Have confidence in the Living God who is among us! Mtt.18:20 And in you! 2 John 9 3. Work your faith! ‘faith without works’ is

dead…being alone Jas. 2:24

Conclusion: 2 Cor. 13:5 Examine yourself, whether you be in the faith

Clean up the mess. Turn to the Lord. Repent and beg his forgiveness. Ask Him to help you and mean it. He wants You but you have to want Him. Forget pride. Forget the awful things you

have said, and done and hurt others…Renounce them. Repent and ask God to help you to never do it again.

2 Cor. 6:2 Today is the day of salvation….

Live Faithfully

What does it take for an erring child of God to get right with God today?

CONFESS… I John 1:9 If we confess OUR sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse

us from all unrighteousnes. PRAYER. James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another and

pray one for another. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

James 5:19-20 Brethren, if any of YOU do err from the truth,and one convert him: Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins!

WHEN YOU MEET GOD’S TERMS OF PARDON, HE FORGIVES YOU!

Heb. 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness,

and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

“ God will remember them no more… So, if he doesn’t remember them, why should we? “ Be thankful when you can say:Thank you God, I am forgiven!!!!
