Show your appreciation for the entire staff by purchasing a $25

November 2020
Chap Connections is a monthly newsletter with the latest PTO
news and updates from extra curricular groups on WHS campus. All
groups at Westlake High School are invited to submit news each
month, in Word or PDF format. To contribute to the newsletter,
please email Laura Potter at [email protected]
As we move into this season of giving thanks, we want to
reiterate how grateful we are to our supportive parents and
community as well as our hard-working teachers and staff! We
wouldn’t have made it this far without everyone putting in 110% to
make it a successful Fall.
Based on the two general PTO meetings we’ve had, online Zoom
meetings seem to be the way to go to encourage broad participation.
Principal Steve Ramsey and Lead Counselor Heidi Sauer did a great
job at our last meeting giving us the annual college admissions
report. If you missed it, the presentation is at:
https://sites.google.com/eanesisd.net/westlakecounseling/resources/presentations?authuser=0.
This will be our last newsletter of the year, so we wish you the
best over the Thanksgiving holidays and Winter break. We hope to
see you at our upcoming general PTO meetings scheduled for February
23rd, April 20, and May 18. And if you have topics you’d like to
hear more about at those meetings, please drop us an email at
[email protected].
Take care & stay healthy, Kit Spelce & Caroline
Sweeney

First (& Last) Contest of the Season
The Westlake High School Chaparral Band wrapped up their 2020
marching season on
November 14th with a culminating performance at the UIL Region
Marching Contest,
their last (and only) contest of their 2020 season! After three
months of zoom band
camp, in person rehearsals, students were excited to perform
their show, Classic Chap
Celebrations, in front of family, friends, and special
guests.
The Chap Band would like to extend a big “Thank You!” to all
who’ve
supported their efforts this season, including the Westlake
Faculty &
Staff, Eanes ISD Administration, the Westlake Band Parents, and
the
Westlake Community!
2020 Chap Band Seniors
The 2020 Chap Band Seniors have had a particularly strange and
challenging final
marching season. Throughout, these students have shown
incredible leadership. We
thank them not only for persevering through the unexpected
changes of this year, but for
their dedication to the band program for the past four years!
Please join us in celebrating
their accomplishments during “Senior Night” at the WHS v. Austin
High home football
game on November 20th!
