The February 2018 Issue COPELAND 2017-18 WHAT'S HAPPENING AT Highlights: Fresh Starts, Friendships and Celebrating Culture! Hello Copeland Families, It is hard to believe that February is finally here! This is an exciting month with many opportunities to share our achievements and discuss student progress with families. Reports will be coming home on Feb. 7 th and this will be a great time to reflect on Term 1 and set goals for Term 2. Copeland is so fortunate to have such high quality programs and we are very proud of how our students have progressed this term. As January 31 st just passed we take time to value and recognize the importance of “Let’s Talk” and about mental health issues. We understand that this time of year can be difficult and taking time to support each other makes a difference. Copeland works hard to create many opportunities for students to self-regulate, be engaged and get involved at school. As you read through this newsletter you will see the range of clubs, teams and ongoing activities that allow us to keep our bodies and minds healthy. We are looking forward to February 9 th for the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. Go Canada go, we wish you the best! Mrs. Rathbone and Mrs. Trafford Today we say “Good-bye” to two very special coyotes… Mr. Mece has worked very hard with our Grade 2 FI class this term. We will miss his flexibility and his good sense of humour. Ms. Anthony has been supporting many of our students throughout the school this term and her kindness will be missed. We certainly hope that both of our staff coyotes will return on a regular basis to supply here at Copeland! Bonne Chance and all the best!!! On that note, we would like to welcome back two other staff Coyotes! Ms. von Zittwitz has enjoyed her temporary position at the Board Office supporting students in many schools and now will return to her role here at Copeland! Mme. Mattar has finished her maternity leave and will now return to Copeland to teach our Grade 2 FI class. We are excited to have our coyotes return and hear all about their new adventures! Bienvenue and welcome home! "Hello, Goodbye!"

Happenings at Copeland...

Hello Copeland families!!
School Council will be hosting Copeland's annual movie nights on Wednesday, February 7th and Thursday, February 8th. We will be showing Disney's Coco, and look
forward to seeing families there. Don't forget to order popcorn, samosas and other snacks
via School Cash Online in advance. We are desperately looking for volunteers for these
two evenings. It is only with your help that these Movie Nights will be successful. If you
would like to volunteer at one or both movies nights (even for just a portion of the night),
please indicate on the movie admission form, email [email protected] or
leave a note for council in the office. We will continue to have our Pizza and Sub lunches
every Thursday at first nutrition break for the month of February. Pizza days are February 1st, 8th and 15th. Sub day is February 22nd. Vanilla heart and chocolate chip cookies
will be available for purchase on Valentine's Day. Please bring $1 on February 14th to
purchase your cookies!! See the flyer at the end of this newsletter. School Council is an
excellent way to be involved at your child's school, and to be active in planning many fun
and exciting events within the school. Please join us on Monday, February 26th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm for the next School Council meeting. Babysitting will be provided.
