TEXTILE WORKSHOP

Kemeraltı is kind of a trade center. However, it acts like a mass production area that causes to loose its identity. First, all kinds of workshops have been thoroughly researched and that textile shops turned out to be the most dominant than the rest. The project aim is to create textile workshops, which produce their own production. So that the mass production can transform into mass customization. The project is located on Kestelli road. It is a dense location as regard to the textile production. Another designing approach is to create a greenery area in Kemeraltı. Salepçioglu Mosque’s garden helps to cre-ate the landscape in roof part. Finally, component which is the structure of the roof creates the green roof and skylights on top of it.

SUNSCAPE PLAZA

The aim of the projcet is to create a composition by using collage technique. The shape of the landscape is defined by this composition. After that, the garden is divided three areas which are hearing, moving and seeing. These places are designed according to the user of the spaces. The main focus of that project is to use sunlight effi-ciently. Workshop area is added lastly and its sun screen and placement is done by thinking the direction of the project. The screen is occured the body of palm tree.By using ink, the pattern is made.

SEASCAPE OBSERVATORY

In Inciraltı, Izmir there is an artificial forest. The aim of this project is to create 3 different observation rooms which are land, sea sky and one research center. All places are designed and located by using sections. Site sections which are taken in a different locations help to place the observation rooms and research center. The users of the spaces defined the form of the research center. According to the bubble diagrams “T shaped”

research center is occured.

WORKSHOP-MEMBRANEInstructors:

Michael HenselDefne Sunguroglu Hensel

During the 12 days of the workshop, one membrane system and cable-net combinations were developed and two installations constructed to under-stand the design and construction logic at full scale. Each workshop membrane system were designed in response to specific sunlight conditions of Izmir which were ana-lysed and developed accordingly through physical model testing and digital analysis.

TOWER

This project idea is to create a space with using the real tower projects.Bird Watching Tower in Graswarder, Heiligenhafen which is designed by Mein Von Gerkan in 2005 is used. This project is occured by using 4 phases which are observation, documentation, analysis and experimentation. These phases are done digital, hand-drawing and montage technique. This project aim is to create space by deforming the original tower which is the last phase(experimentation). Finally, dancing hall is chosen for an activity. Accord-ing to that the interior of the building is designed for dancers.

WORKSHOP-GENETIC ARCHITECTURE

Instructors:

Karl Chu

The workshop that has been lasting 14 days is about genetic architecture. It contained two parts;one is matrix system and the other is jelly fish.Genetics rely on codes and each of them has different rule system. So that, writing codes by using letters are the key concept of the genetic architecture. Then the rule system is fitted on a grid frames(500*500).After doing matrix system , an-other rule which is done with cartesian in mathematics is used.In the end, all the rule system creates a scheama and this forms the spaces.

STORYTELLING CENTER

This project relies on master plan. It is in Turan, Izmir. After designing the landscape and create a new master plan, the storytelling center is designed. The form of the master plan is occured a metaphor which is roller coster. This metaphor is created after the site analysis.According to that, the site has 3 main transportation area which are bus, train and boat. The location of the build-ing is between the two transportation and in front of the bus drop off area. Designing creteria is to create a relation between the two other part of the site. The location and the form of the building create a transition inside of the building. All the storytelling rooms are located among the connection roads. It creates visual storytelling rooms.

SUSTAIN THE PARTY

The main aim of the project is to create a relationship between urban and the program. Urban analysis and strategies formed the building. The site is in Basmane which is the most crowded places in Izmir. The program of the building is not stable. After used for dance and music hall, it transformed industrial school. That’s why the form of the building is done by using two different type of program. The building is a kind of connection of the two sides of the site. The districtions of the site which are hospital mosque and historical residential areas are communicate that building. The component and form of the building is served the two different program and created a gathering area for the users of the site.
