THE HALLS CUP HAS BEGUN!

This years Freshers is looking to be bigger & better than ever, with a wide range of events and activities happening throughout the two weeks. Luckily for all of you in Halls, none are more exciting than the “Halls Cup”. This will be the inaugural year of this event, pitting the four LSBU Halls (McLaren, Dante, David Bomberg and New Kent Road) against each other - scoring points through challenges and activities in order to win individual and halls wide prizes through-out the year, With the eventual winners being crowned Halls Cup Champions.

The Halls Cup is a great chance to get involved and make friends from inside and outside of your halls. The challenges will see your halls teams compete in a number of tasks; physical, mental and ludicrous. The events will be a great way to meet new people, and fly the colours of your halls proudly.

Sign up a team and you will be able to get involved as much or as little as you want, taking part in the events you’re interested in - though if you really want to win, you’re more then wel-come to go the extra mile! We’ll be starting the point gathering on the first Sunday of Freshers (Sunday the 7th) with Super Social Sunday. You can turn up with your halls wristband get more information and sign up. Keep an eye out for all the HC events throughout the week, where you can try new things and generate points for your halls

SUPER SPORT SUNDAY - 14TH SEPTEMBERBecome a kid again for a day and take part in school sports games at the Super Sport Sunday, win points in Hula-hoop, Basketball shots, Skipping, Three legged race -Piggy back race, Giant Jenga, Tug of War

1. Register with the Welcome team at the Student Centre Sunday 7 September – get a point just for registering!

2. Turn Up to the Super Sporting Sunday – get another point for being there3. Form a team, take part and Win. 10 points for coming first, 5 points for second. Nothing

for anything else so make it count.4. Sports Master Iain will report back to Head Hall with the results.

Super Social Sunday - 7th SeptemberAside from being the best day ever it’s going to be a good start to your point scoring. Make sure you register when you come in and you’ll get your first point which can be added to your team total.

Crazy Golf - 25TH OctoberFind locations with a set number of clues. If you find in fewer clues, you are under-par; if you need additional clues then you are over-par. Oh yeah, and there are ACTUAL golf holes to find. Teams with the lowest overall par will be deemed the winners.

1. Email Sports Master Iain at [email protected] to register your team2. Take part (1 point for each person who turns up) and win. 10 points for coming first, 5

points for second. Nothing for anything else so make it count.3. Sports Ambassadors accompanying your team will report back to Head Hall with your

team name and result.

Dodgeball - 23RD NovemberIn line with the University Dodgeball Championships, LSBU will deliver a tournament for all registered teams. The tournament will be on a straight knock out basis with teams allocated randomly. Teams will achieve points in line with the above table. 1. 1) Email sports Master Iain at [email protected] to register your team2. 2) Take part (1 point for each person who turns up) and make sure your team knock

out the competition. 10 points for coming first, 5 points for second. Nothing for anything else so make it count.

Financial planningKeeping on top of your finances is going to be key to making all other areas of your life go swimmingly. To get you in the right headspace we’ve got an online resource called Blackbullion all lined up for you. If you read it, pay attention and then do it you’ll be exactly where you need to be. We can’t control the last 2 bits but we can give you points for the first bit. So… for 1 point every module1. Go to www.blackbulliononline.co.uk, Log in with your name and the pin 56433 and do

as many modules as you want2. When you’re in a team and everyone has finished email all of your names (including your

team name) to Adele, the Student Life Centre Manager on [email protected]. She’ll reply to confirm the points scored and pass your score on to Head Hall to add

to your total.

Raise and GiveRAG is about student led charity fundraising meaning it puts you in the driving seat. You can take on roles like project manager, communications officer and treasurer - All experience and skills that are fantastic CV boosters. You can plan and run events, improve your knowledge and raise money for a charity that matters to you. As well as raising cash and getting an insanely warm and fuzzy feeling you’ll also get points for your team – triple win. To get started 1. Email Natasha, our Societies Development Assistant, on [email protected] 2. Natasha, will get in contact and get you involved with the RAG opportunities we have.

You can all do different things or fundraise as a team with your friends in halls3. When you’ve finished your fundraising complete the paperwork with Natasha who will let

head hall know just how amazing you are.4. 5 points for raising any money with bonus points available from Head Hall for imagination,

inspiration and all round general impressiveness. If we like it, we’ll put points on it.

Win the Pub QuizHmmm… how much explanation does this need? There’s a pub quiz, every Tuesday at 5.45pm in the bar sooooo….1. Turn up2. Get everything right and win (as well as glory you win a round of drinks if you win a

round of the quiz! AND a round if you win overall. Why would you not be there?)3. Tell Quiz Master (Luke)Murray that you’re in the halls cup – give your team name – and

he’ll report back to Head Hall who will award you 5 points for being so clever.

VolunteeringWhat a great way to get your CV boosted and the career of your dreams in sight. The employ-ability team have loads of different opportunities to get involved with all sorts of different things and if, between your team, you complete 70 hours, you’re in for 70 points. Bonza.1. Email [email protected]. Our volunteering team will be in touch and you can get involved with one of the

opportunities they has. You can all do different things or volunteer as a team for added bonding time… smiley faces and high fives all round.

3. When you’ve finished your work email again with all of your names and your team name and they’ll confirm to Head Hall that you’ve completed.
