Leap of Faith by: Shelley LeGrand 'Twas a beautiful spring morning, A gorgeous sky of blue, 'Twas the fourth year of my parting, My parting was with you. The sun was slowly peaking out, From behind the puffy clouds, I knew that you were somewhere, Just behind those grassy mounds. The fog was slowly lifting, As does a silver veil. I knew I had to get there, I knew I couldn't fail. I heard your graceful whinny, Just like music to my ears. The sweet pounding of your hoofbeats, I hadn't heard in many years. The sight that I was met with, Just couldn't be explained... Your gold coat like the rising sun, In contrast to your mane. My feet they soon were airborne, As was my voice upon the wind. I thanked God for this rare moment, For it was felt from deep within. My hands entangled in your mane, I swung up on your back. Then all my worries ran away, Like hoofbeats on the track. As my heart took wings and flew on high, As does the turtledove, I knew we had received a gift, That comes only from above. My heart had reached the summit, Of the now cloudless sky above. And as you strongly galloped on, I was filled with love. As I looked upon your gleaming neck, Where my hand was gently lain. I was forced to face the downing fact, Of facing life again. My hand resting on your neck, Under the beautiful sky of blue, I asked and pondered carefully, "What do people without horses do?"
