Mural Information
Famed African-American muralist and artist, Hale Aspacio Woodruff was commissioned to paint six panels for Talladega College. Comprising of six monumental canvases, the vibrant murals portray heroic efforts to resist slavery and moments in the history of the College. The Amistad Murals are noted as one of Woodruff ’s best known works. For over 70 years, these highly-valued works hung in Savery Library on the campus. In 2011, Talladega College entered a conservation partnership with the High Museum of Atlanta, Georgia to restore, research, and exhibit the renowned Talladega murals. The exhibition tour started in June 2012 and will continue around the country through 2015. For more information about the Talladega Murals, go to www.amistadmurals.com.
