tAkE CARE to be able to enjoy nature tomorrow, we have to take responsibility in what we are doing today. At Haglöfs, we have great awareness

about our impact on both nature and people. By joining bluesign® and Fair Wear Foundation we have taken two

important steps towards a more sustainable business.our overall sustainability policy is simple: we minimize our negative environmental impact by developing long-lasting

products, by using socially responsible manufacturers and by continuously increasing the proportion of recycled and bluesign®

approved materials in our products.

For us, being a truly responsible brand means integrating sustainability into everything we do. We don’t have a specific

eco collection, instead we keep raising the bar throughout all our product segments and throughout the company. It’s important for us to work together with retailers and consumers to raise awareness and set high demands for sustainable products.

We are constantly looking for improvement.

our sustainability work is a constant work in progress, but our central premise has always been constant; we make products

that last, without any unnecessary environmental impact. to us, sustainability is essential and it is our sincere hope that you think

like us – then the difference will be so much more noticeable. If you want to read more about what we do, take a

look at our sustainability report.

AdvICE FoR A Good NIGHt’S

SlEEP

You will be sure of a good night’s sleep with the right sleeping bag, but there are more tips for

how you can maximize the chances of sleeping comfortably:

Page 49: HAGLÖFS BASE CAMP SPRING/SUMMER 2014

BEFoRE SlEEP: Maintain a good fluid balance and keep energy stores filled

when it is time to sleep. It is harder for a dehydrated and hungry person to maintain his/her body temperature.

duRING SlEEP:use a good sleeping mat since much of the cold comes from

the ground on which you are lying.

Wear a base layer if it is cold and put on socks, gloves and a hat. the clothes you’re wearing during the night should be

made of synthetic or wool fabrics as these materials will keep you warm even if damp. do not

dry damp clothing in the sleeping bag.

use a sleeping bag sheet. It increases the temperature level of the sleeping bag by a couple of degrees.

AFtER SlEEP:Hang the bag to ventilate it and to get rid of all the moist.

then you’ll have a dry sleeping bag for the following night.

BODY HEAT

GROUND COLD

ISOLATING SLEEPINGMAT MOISTURE

AIR

PRE-HEAt YouRSElFWhen you sleep outside in winter conditions, try to raise your body temperature before going to sleep by performing some light excercises. But don’t excercise too hard as you should

avoid bringing too much moisture into the sleeping bag.

PRE-HEAt YouR SlEEPING BAGAnother way to sleep more comfortably during winter is to

pre-heat your sleeping bag. Heat some water, pour it into an aluminum bottle and place it in the foot-box of your sleeping

bag 60 to 30 minutes before bedtime.

Page 50: HAGLÖFS BASE CAMP SPRING/SUMMER 2014

A sleeping bag should have an as optimal a fit as possible in order to avoid any unnecessary

heating of air.

All our sleeping bags are mummy shaped and the silhouette is based on an average sized

person lying on their back.

All our sleeping bags have individual fits, based on the activities for which they are intended.

For example, our warmest sleeping bags have a more generous fit to allow space for

extra clothing.

We use as clean and simple fits as possible in order to avoid unnecessary seams or

constructions. Each detail is carefully considered so as to optimize its purpose.

tHE SlEEPING BAG – HoW It WoRkS

With a well-constructed sleeping bag in the right materials and with the right temperature zone, you have all the prerequisites

required for a good night’s sleep in the outdoors. Remember that you heat up the sleeping bag and not the

other way around. But it is up to the material and design of the sleeping bag to ensure that heat is retained and that the

moisture produced by your body is wicked away. In order for the sleeping bag to function optimally, it is

important that you choose the right one based on yourself and the environment you will be sleeping in.
