Q: Does your college subscribe to online journals? Which online journals have you subscribed to? A: My vision is to make this college, an institution of repute in the field of nursing education which would offer need based academic programs suited to the ever changing demands of the health care sector. A: The mission of the college is to provide quality nursing education in an environment that facilitates all round development of the students. The college strives hard to prepare graduate nurses who are knowledgeable, technically competent and conscientious in their actions. My personal philosophy is relevant to this mission as I have always believed in churning out quality nursing professionals through intensive practical training in the clinical area and quality education with the help of committed teachers. A: As a Principal, I have a major role in helping my students develop academic, ethical and personal values. I believe in giving academic freedom to the students and encourage them to undertake self-directed learning activities to improve their knowledge and skills in addition to what they receive from their teachers in their classrooms. I keep a regular check on the curriculum being implemented and guide the faculty in the smooth conduct of the academic programme. At every stage, the students are encouraged to inculcate personal qualities like honesty, sincerity, co- operation, concern and love for fellow beings. A: Teachers need to prepare thoroughly before every teaching session and update themselves with the latest information through extensive reading, participation in seminars, workshops, etc. Advance planning and timely execution of the program is essential for getting the desired outcomes. Every teacher must take pride in imparting training to the best to their ability. Practical training should be under the direct supervision of the teachers to get the desired benefit. A: Students are provided opportunity for participating in various co-curricular and extra- curricular activities during college week celebrations. Talented students are identified and sponsored for participating in various curricular and extra-curricular activities organized by the university. Every effort is made to improve their communication and interpersonal skills by providing them opportunities to participate in debates, elocution, scientific quiz etc. They are also sent for various educational visits to have direct experiences. A: Catalogues from various publishers and book seller are collected, studied and a list is prepared based on the editions, reprints, content validity etc. Orders are placed with dealers for the supply of books. Our library is updated on a six monthly basis. Library also stacks various nursing journals both Indian and foreign. Since our library is only three years old, we have no obsolete material on our shelves. A: Only by going through the research studies published in various medical and nursing journals as and when time permits. A: Today, health care is a major industry and the health care providers are accountable to its consumers for the quality of care they provide. Nurse educators have the responsibility of bringing out quality nursing professionals from their institutions, who will be able to tackle the challenges in this era of changing technology and knowledge explosion. A: I have been a teacher for the last 27 years or so, and over the years I have mastered the art of developing a trusting relationship with my students and I find no problem in managing the student community. My students are my strength today. They have taught me a lot during this long journey. Even though I am busy with my professional commitments, I still try and find some time for my family as well. A: I would like to establish uniform standards for nursing education in the country and make nurses more accountable for their actions and improve the image of nurses in our country. Nurses need to involve themselves proactively in their professional bodies so that they can learn and advocate for the profession. A: TNAI, NRSI and National Neonatology Forum. A: I expect Gyandeep to update us with the most relevant and useful information from time to time, be it from books or periodicals. A: We have not yet started subscribing to online journals as we are still in infancy and it is not economically viable. Demonstration of various Nursing skills both in the laboratory and in the patient care settings is very vital for effective learning.
