FROM THE DESK OF THE CHAPTER DIRECTOR
HELLO CHAPTER “T” FAMILY
First off I’d like to send out a big thank you to the 2017-chapter team.
Everyone on the 2017 staff did a fantastic job. I appreciate all of your
hard work and dedication to our chapter.
The after-Christmas Banquet was held on January 20th at the Somerset
Country Club. We had 34 members in attendance. The staff at the coun-
try club did an awesome job. The food and the service was wonderful.
After getting our stomach full it was time to hand out some awards. The
Almost Perfect Attendance awards went to Rudy & Connie Cramer with
10 gatherings and Mike & Mary Ann Scheve also with 10 gatherings.
Next up were the Mileage Awards. The working-class awards went to:
First Place Roger & Tammy Snuffer with 23,460 miles. Second Place
went to Randy & Janet Shawley with 11,346 miles. Third place went to
Roger & Debbie Fields with 11,023 miles. In the Retired Class first
place went to Rudy & Connie Cramer with 14,518 miles. Second place
went to Bill & Dawn Wilgus with 5,588 miles. Third place went to Mike
& Mary Ann Scheve with 4,707 miles. In 2017 Chapter “T” rode a total
of 70,939 miles with NO accidents. That’s a great year!!
After the awards were given out we held our auction along with a silent
auction. There were a lot if nice prizes given out. After a few closing re-
marks from Janet & I, our evening came to an end. It just so happened
that the Clark’s were playing the same night. Everyone was invited to
listen to some really good music afterward.
We held our first chapter bowling event on Sunday the 28th at Terrace
Lanes. We had an awesome turnout with 22 members in attendance.
That is the first time in a while that we had to use 3 lanes. Everyone had
a great time. After bowling we decided to go eat at Italian Oven. This
is where Mary Ann admitted defeat and handed $20 over to Mike.
Our next gathering is scheduled for February 9th at King’s Restau-
rant. We will eat at 6pm and the gathering will begin at 7pm.

DISTRICT DIRECTORS
Wow is it February, time to write a newsletter. Time sure does fly when you are having FUN! We know it has only been a month since we became Penn-sylvania District Directors. We appreciate the time that everyone puts it to get-ting yearend paper work done and selling District Raffle tickets while trying to get ready for Christmas and the New Year. This month is the drawing for the District Raffle tickets. We hope you have a winning ticket! A list of winners will be announced weekly through PEDS. At our District Team Meeting, the team decided that the month of February was a good time for the drawing. It gives everyone something to look forward to dur-ing the winter. So, this coming year, District Raffle tickets will be distributed to the Chapters to sell. Thanks for all your help in selling the tickets! There are many events planned by the District and Chapters for 2018. Take time to look at the District website for the flyers. The first page of the District Newsletter has the events that have been posted to the District website events page. To highlight some of the District Events that are quickly approaching. March 10
th – Couple of the Year (COY) Retreat
This is a great time to meet couples from other chapters that have been selected to represent their Chapter. You will learn about the honor and what is expected of you.
April14th
– Officer Conference in Clearfield, PA The purpose of the day is to learn about the office you are holding and the responsibilities of your office along with any changes that home office has implemented. The meeting is open to Chapter Directors, Assistant Chap-ter Directors, Ride Coordinators, Membership Enhancement Coordinators and Treasurers. Please let us know how many will be attending from your Chapter by March 31, 2018.
May 17-19th
– PA District Rally in Uniontown, PA Please send in your registration and make your hotel reservation. At the rally, we have scheduled riding courses. The only course that has spots left open is the ARC (Advance Riding Course) for two-wheeled motorcy-cles. There will be non-riding education classes held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
All Chapters East & All Chapters West Both campgrounds are taking reservations for the event. And don’t for-get to send your registration in to the host chapter. Both these events are FUN so, plan on attending even if you do not camp!
We have been receiving phone calls about planning a Day of Training at your chapter or a couple of chapters going together. Now is a great time to have a non-riding day of training. Please contact Gerry and Bonnie VanArt, PA Dis-trict University Trainers, at 570-759-9304 or Tim and Crystal Brakebill, Assis-tant PA District University Trainers, at 724-816-7734 to schedule a time. Or contact Doug Motter, PA District Educator, at 717-226-3153 to schedule a rid-ing course such as the Road Captains Course at your chapter this summer. Remember to always ride safe! DISTRICT RIDE COORDINATOR
Hello everyone.
In the last newsletter, I talked about the data available on the Rider Edu-cation website. I also explained how to enter this site so you can review your own information.
This month, I would like to explain the difference between Safe Mileage and High Mileage.
“Safe Mileage” begins on the day you join GWRRA. Your safe mileage in-creases for every mile you ride your motorcycle without having a report-able accident. If you have an accident which is reportable for insurance claim or by law enforcement as an accident, your mileage reverts back to 0 miles. The program awards a pin for every 5,000 miles safely ridden.
We have many members with 100,000 miles in the program.
“High Mileage” is just for bragging rights. This is not a GWRRA program. High Mileage indicates the number of miles you have accumulated since you began riding a motorcycle legally. Safe miles bars – awarded in 50,000 increments – are displayed from a head pin. I must say it again, “This is not a GWRRA program.” However, we have mem-bers in the Pennsylvania District with over 400,000 miles…and they are still adding up the miles!
In the coming months, I will explain what the Levels Program is, how the program works, and why it is important to all of us as GWRRA members.
It is up to you to monitor and update your information for the website, but I am here to help when needed. Please feel free to contact me when you have questions or need other assistance.
