• Gujarat is one of the state of Republic India.• The total area covered by Gujarat is 1,96,024 km2.• The capital of Gujarat is Gandhinagar.• Gujarat’s international border with Pakistan is to the

north-west, state border with Rajasthan to the north-east, Madhya Pradesh to the east, Maharashtra and the union territory of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli to the south.

• The Arabian Sea makes up the state’s western coast.

(1) Dwarka

• It is located in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat.• Rated as one of the seven most ancient cities of the

country.• Dwarka, according to Hindu mythology was the

dwelling place of “Lord Krishna”.• It is one of the holiest cities in Hinduism and is one of

the four main “dhams” along with Badrinath, Puri, Rameshwaram.

• Dwarka is also famous for the Dwarkadhish temple.

(2) Girnar

• Girnar is the collection of mountains in the Junagadh District of the Gujarat state.

• The tallest of these rises to 945 meters (3100 feet), the highest peak in Gujarat.

• The five peaks of Girnar are topped by 866 intricately carved stone temple.

• The strong built stone path is the pilgrimage route for both Hindus and Jains

• Its claimed that there are exactly 9,999 steps from the trailhead to the last temple on the highest peak.

• Every year a race is held, running from the base of the mountain to the peak and back.

• The locals in nearby Junagadh insisted that the fastest ever time was 45 minutes, which strikes those who have taken 5-8 hours climbing the mountain.

• In Hindu religion, the legend is that climbing Girnar barefooted earns one a place in Heaven.

(3) Champaner.

• Champaner is a historic town and it is located in Panchmahal district, 47 kilometer from Vadodara.

• Founded by “Vanraj Chavda”,most prominent king of Chavda Kingdom. He named it after his friend & general Champa, who later was known as “Champaraj”.

• Champaner is today famous for “The Champaner-Pavagadh Archeological Park”, which is listed by UNESCO as “World Heritage Site”.

• Sultan Begada also built a magnificent “ Jama Masjid” in Champaner, which ranks as the finest architectural edifices in Gujarat. Its an imposing structure on a high Plinth, with a central dome, two minarets 30 meter high, 172 pillars, seven Mihrabs, and carved entrance gates with fine stone jalis.
