Guidelines for Enjoyment The Rocky and Pee Dee River Blueways have both natural and man-made hazards. Paddling is an inherently dangerous activity and individuals acknowledge the risk by participating. To ensure you have a safe and enjoyable trip, please remember these tips: Follow all local, state, and federal regulations. Lifejackets (PFDs) should be worn at all times. Always carry drinking water and sunscreen. Do not disturb or feed wildlife. Maintain a respectful distance from nesting birds. Check weather and river conditions prior to paddling. Leave a float plan with family or friends on shore. They should know where you’re going and what time you expect to return. While using the parking area or boat launch, the following activities are STRICTLY PROHIBITED and are considered trespassing: Parking area hours dawn till dusk Overnight parking or camping. Consumption or possession of alcohol. Hunting or discharging a firearm. Swimming, wading, or bathing. Fires or portable grills. Use of motorized vehicles including ATVs, motorcycles, scooters, etc. Police authorized to arrest under N.C.G.S. 14-159.13
