How your clients bequest will make a difference to thousands of Australians
You never know who it might help.
One in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before the
age of 85 some while children, some while young parents, others
when grandparents.
Every day, on average, 300 Australians are told they have cancer.
Thanks to advances in early detection and treatment, more than half
of cancer patients will be successfully treated.
But cancer remains the number one cause of premature death
in Australia - more than 43,000 people are expected to die from
cancer this year.
Currently, there are around 300,000 people living with cancer
in Australia.
As the prospects of surviving cancer increase,
the number of people living with cancer
and needing our care and support
will continue to increase.
Cancer in Australia: our challenge
Your clients Will can bring hope to future generationsAfter considering family and friends, leaving a gift in a Will to Cancer Council will make a difference to thousands of Australians.
A bequest in your clients Will can help fund a research program, or help us maintain our important advocacy, education and support services.
Leaving a bequest to Cancer Council is simple and easy to do. Bequests can also be directed towards a particular area that your client believes is important.
As non-government organisations, we rely on community support for our efforts to fight cancer through:
n research to discover the causes of cancer and improve treatment
n education and awareness campaigns that save lives by preventing cancer and detecting it earlier
n services for people with cancer, their families and carers including support groups, palliative and hospice care, accommodation for cancer patients having treatment, financial assistance and resources
n information and support through Cancer Council Helpline, a free* national service (more than 150,000 Australians call for information and support every year)
n advice to doctors and other health professionals about prevention and best treatment.
*local call cost anywhere in Australia
We need your support today and in the future.
Cancer Council Australias members are the eight state and territory Cancer Councils. In addition to funding vital research, each has a long history of providing care and support for cancer patients, credible information and effective cancer prevention and education campaigns.
As Australia's peak cancer control organisation, Cancer Council is the logical choice for clients wanting to support the fight against cancer.

Our researchers have recently discovered a drug that stops cancer cell growth and movement in neuroblastoma, brain tumours and melanomas. We are giving hope where there was none. And we will continue to explore many more frontiers.

Please give a helping hand to a young Australian child who desperately needs our help...
N ow that Sally is unemployed life has become much harder especially for her two children, Jason and Rebecca.Every week it has become more dif cult, not only for the things all growing children need, but also for what they needed for school uniforms, text books, shoes, pencils, rulers, school excursions. And there were no hand-me-downs to rely on.
Weve had some government assistance, and really appreciated it. But it fell well short of helping us to give the children any sort of real boost to pay for these education essentials. However, through you, we are now much more hopeful for the future of our children.
Your thoughtful and unsel sh donation to Compass Youth Education, an MYWF program, can make the essential difference to young Aussies lives like Jason and Rebecca.

Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic disease in the world. Type 2 diabetes, which is closely linked to lifestyle, is doubling every 10 years in Australia, and has now reached epidemic proportions around the world. Type 1 diabetes is increasing at about three per cent a year. Diabetes Australia-NSW figures, based on the number of diagnosed cases, show that nearly one million Australians have diabetes.
If current rates continue, the number of people with diabetes nationally will reach 4.2 million in five years*.

Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service provides emergency aeromedical services to those who live, work and travel throughout rural and remote Australia.
In addition to 35,000 emergency flights each year, our aircraft and crews are also kept busy conducting 40 remote health clinics each week day.

Shedding light on mental illnessThe Mental Health Research Institute (MHRI) is dedicated to improving the lives of one in five Australians who experience a mental illness.
Our research teams investigate the causes of illnesses including Alzheimers disease, Parkinsons disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, as well as depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. We aim to find better ways to diagnose and treat such illnesses, and ultimately, to discover preventions or cures.
To continue our important work we need committed support from the community. Donations are always appreciated and a bequest is the most valuable gift that we can receive. Find out more about our work or how you can support it by contacting the Development Office on 03 9388 1633.
