Peach Blossom TrailPeaches are one of the most popular fruits in the United States and have always been

symbolic of something good as indicated by the saying “pretty as a peach.” The State of Georgiais indeed fortunate to be so well known for such a wonderful commodity (although anyone whohas ever been whipped by a Georgia peach twig may not think so.) Today, Georgia is known asthe Peach State, not because it produces the most peaches, but rather because it was the birth-place of the commercial peach industry.

When traveling in Georgia from mid-May throughAugust, the Peach Blossom Trail offers several road-side stands where visitors can find sweet Georgiapeaches! During their travels down the trail, they cansee thousands of acres of peach orchards. There areseveral farms that offer tours into the orchards, pro-viding a close look at the peach trees and informationon the history of how this fruit from China made itsway to Georgia.

The Peach Blossom Trail runs parallel to I-75. Getoff the beaten path, and travel the Trail. But hurry! Peaches will be gone by the end of August, and these sweet fruits won’t be available again until next year. For more information, visitwww.peachblossomtrail.com.
